The Lakers have never recovered from losing Kuz, KCP, Caruso and abandoning the 2 big lineups. They were positionally bigger than every other team and could defend anyone. They also lost the veteran presence guys like Rondo and Dudley provided

Lakers were better when they were better. Great post.

It is disappointing but little point In looking back. Atleast we replenshied some younger talent.

Far better from the Russ, bazemore, melo and ariza squad.

Crazy how some people don’t think 6’9 250lb lbj isn’t a big man just bc of traditional positions.

He’s literally bigger than many bigmen and SCORES inside better than most bigmen and REBOUNDS like a big man and can GUARD bigmen like a big man.

How many 250lb SF do you know????

No one wants to admit it but we suck now because father time partially caught up with Lebron and AD fell off a cliff offensively. Together they are a magnitude worse today than they were in 2020. That’s what the difference has been. Last night 2020 lebron/AD with the same roster and Ham as the coach blow out the Kings. They were that good and aren’t anymore.

Kuzma underperformed. He was always going to get traded after that Suns series. He’s a better rebounder than Rui, but he went missing more often than not offensively. The real miss was losing KCP and Caruso. We got Rondo back, but he was washed and his voice got drowned out in the locker room. Dudley was also washed but having an enforcer would be nice

Let’s not act like the teams in the west aren’t significantly better either

  7. Y’all still sleep on what Danny Green provided us. There is a reason he’s a champion many times over.

Mate, let’s move forward and focus on the present. Jeannie and Pelinka haven’t proven themselves to be exceptional, so I’m not expecting much with such a strong Western Conference. I believe the Lakers’ window with LeBron is closed. Jeannie will capitalize on his presence for as long as possible because he brings substantial revenue to the franchise.

even thought it was an overreaction to blow the team up for basically nothing after that suns series… but the lakers haven’t been the same since hill dived at lebrons ankle

That was a quality squad from top to bottom. Even Quinn Cooke was the garbage time GOAT.

Kuzma is trash, I’d be more disappointed about losing Ingram

  12. KingNephew

The fact that KCP, Caruso and Kuzma are in their primes with a good while left is sickening.

you still need to make improvements, i highly doubt their 2020 Championship team could beat Denver, all teams in the west improved drastically. That roster would be obsolete. Dont forget Danny Green, Dwight kinda looked washed the very next season same thing with Rondo. His stint with atlanta was trash. I miss KCP and AC tho, would pick them over Dlo and Reaves any day

  14. Neat_Golf4450

Imagine kuzma and Kcp still on the team. Rob fumbled a solid couple years

  15. hugscott

Ya’ll are so dumb lol cover up LBJ’s name and just show his stat line and try and argue that “Player x” is bad for the team lol

  16. Swaggyzilla69

This sub is weird. A lot of you want Kuz gone, same with KCP after he shot 22% from 3 in the 2021 playoffs.

A 2 big man lineup doesn’t work today because AD can’t really consistently stretch the floor anymore, and LeBron will not be chasing players around consistently at the 3.

  17. yeah, we know, we’ve discussed it to death the last 3 years

  18. rbilsbor

Don’t forget Josh Hart. The ideal guards at point around Lebron are 3-and-D guys exactly like KCP, Caruso, and Hart, and we let all three of them go. Now our POA defense is garbage and we can’t guard Jamal Murray or DeAaron Fox

  19. Competitive_Swing_59

There is a reason Duncan played the 4 & the Lakers could learn a thing or two from that.

  20. thediggestbick2

Losing KCP and Caruso really hurt the perimeter defense of the lakers. They are the ones who would chase people around screens and play incredible defense.

  21. thesonicvision

Agreed. They lost their identity, plus Bron and AD faced age-and-injuries.

  22. Supyloco

Trading for Westbrook was the biggest mistake.
