[Haberstroh] Scoring is way down in the NBA. A big reason? Referees have subtly swallowed their whistle on just about everything. Shooting fouls, non-shooting fouls, techs, Def 3 seconds, … all down significantly.

It’s pretty easy to see they’re letting them play way more physically. I like it and I thought the scoring had gotten way too high but at the same time I’m scared some teams (heat) will take advantage of this and cause injuries.

Seems like something they probably shouldn’t have done in the middle of the season imo
But also it’s not “subtle.” The refs were letting guys get away with some crazy stuff last night that wouldn’t have flown earlier in the year

It’s the unevenness of the officiating. For a min in the late 3rd I thought the scorers table was going to start distributing knives to the players as they checked in.
But Kyle Lowry was still getting fouls called when he whips his head back upon getting barely grazed.
I’ve been trying to figure out if it benefits the Bucks or not. Allowing Brook to run through drivers with his hands in the air is about the best possible outcome. But it also makes Dame nearly irrelevant. I personally don’t like how far the pendulum has swung and believe some semblance of balance needs to be struck.

It’s most important to be consistent. After that, I say let them play (within reason).

Except for when we play defense.
