Dumb loss. Essentially a two game swing against another tanking team. Could be the difference between the 8th and 10th seed, which is the difference between a 25.6% chance of a top 4 pick and a <10% chance

I will say it was fun to see multiple g league two way players play well

I was at this game and actually put money on the hawks during it to help guarantee the win so you guys are welcome /s

Fun win for the g league guys, really impressive game from Juzang and Micah but also good start for Preston. Ainge has been great with these pickups.

You know, Micah Potter being on the floor with Kessler really made things easier. I forgot when this team was all about size and could do that. Now it seems like we run 3-4 guards at a time.

    GAME NOTES:
This was the first time that we’ve hosted a former coach in a head coaching role since like 1982. That’s wild. Welcome back to Utah Coach Q
For u/Rleb10, the tech on Hardy came when we were up 83-79 in the third quarter. We were outscored 43-42 since then.
This was a solid game for a few guys. Firstly, Keyonte. 25 points on 8-19 shooting,1-7 from 3, but I want to highlight the 8-8 from the free throw line. He was attacking and get calls, and getting points the easy way. This is huge for his development. He also had 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Big fan of his play recently, he looked like the best player on the floor for both teams. Great command of the game. Look at this mf BIG BOY move. C’mon man both of these are insane.
John Collins had a solid showing against his former team as well. 18 points on 7-10 shooting, 2-2 from 3, 2-3 from the line, 11 rebounds (3 offensive), 2 assists, and 1 block. He looked pretty well next to Taylor in the starting unit.
Collin Sexton had a great game too. 21 points on 9-16 shooting, 3-6 from 3, 3 rebounds, 6 assists (including this nutty one to John Collins), 2 steals, and just 1 turnover in his 25 minutes. He had some big minutes, and a giant 4th quarter. He had a nice steal and reverse slam late in the game that ended up being huge. I just love his energy. Big Sextton fan.
Johnny Juzang was our bench MVP. 19 points on 7-11 shooting, 5-8 from 3, 3 rebounds, and a +9 in his minutes. Probably the best game I’ve seen him play in the league. He had 7 points alone in the fourth. His catch n shoot 3’s were looking great.
Micah Potter was also able to jump in and contribute. I’ve been really impressed with his limited role. 11 points on 4-4 shooting, 2-2 from 3, 1-1 from the line, 2 rebounds, 1 assist. Here’s one of his 3’s, and here’s his other, which was an and-1. I don’t know his role in the future, but I love what I see.
Brice started again, and had a solid 14 points on 5-9 shooting, missing all 4 of his 3PA, and going 4-4 from the line. He didn’t miss inside the arc at all, which was impressive. 4 rebounds, 2 assists. Even though his 3 didn’t fall I liked his ability to get inside the arc and attack.
Taylor Hendricks struggled offensively, but was able to contribute on the glass, and defensively. 3 points on 1-7 shooting, 0-3 from 3, 1-2 from the line, 10 rebounds (2 offensive), 3 blocks, but he had foul trouble with 5 fouls in 19 minutes. Solid on-ball defense against the quicker Dejounte Murray here. I want more offensive consistency out of him, but the defense is stellar.
Jason Preston got minutes! Although no triple double, he had 2 points on 1-3 shooting, 2 rebounds (1 offensive), 2 assists, and 1 turnover. +6 in his 12 minutes. I’m glad that he was able to get called up, and hopefully he’s able to take some THT minutes lmao.
Walker Kessler played pretty solid. 6 points in 26 minutes, 3-5 shooting, 9 rebounds (3 offensive), 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks.

We were able to outlast their great 3 point shooting, where the Hawks shot 20-39 from deep, where we shot just 14-36. We did shoot better overall, 46-90 compared to 41-92. We outrebounded them by 8, and had just 11 turnovers. Progress!

    28-37!

Youngest starting lineup in Jazz history. Starting three rookies under 20 and under. Three other G-League players had significant minutes. And they still won.

I can understand wanting the loss for draft positioning, but wins like this led by the young guys are important imo. If this were the last game of the season to determine 9th worst record vs 10th worst record that’s another thing, but there’s still 16 games left. This is how you start rebuilding morale and team culture after it was torn down at the trade deadline.

Advice: Be happy when the jazz, or any of your favorite sports teams, win.

Because winning feels better than losing in my opinion lol

If Danny Ainge hires a shooting coach, we are going to have a bright future.
