POSTCAST – Utah Jazz clip the Hawks 124-122 in battle to final seconds

Quinn Snyder returns to Salt Lake City the Jazz start three rookies and there’s a multitude of stars for you to choose from tonight as the Jazz pull off a close win late 124 122 and we’re talking about it next on postcast you are locked on Jazz your

Daily podcast on the Utah Jazz part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day David lock along with Ron Boon is the Utah Jazz win it tonight over the Atlanta Hawks 124 122 fun game tonight for the Jazz lots of guys step forward Jazz started three

Rookies tonight Quinn Snyder returned to Salt Lake City was all sorts of fun and then we started the fourth quarter with a one-point got ball game uh or Jazz Le it by two and we finished with a two-point game went down to the wire as a lah Hawks left side three does not

Fall to win it at the horn and the Atlant Jazz win it 124 to 122 uh Jazz led by six after one then trailed at the half and then went up by two as we head to the fourth it was a pretty close game all night not a lot of ties and Lead

Changes but just kind of a close game all night um and then a lot of just stud plays uh and a lot of little Heroes we’ll get into it tonight um but Ron and I are going to start off with a debate that we actually were just asking each

Other as we went to break who who made the bigger plays late was it Colin ston or was it Keon George it’s pretty the Jazz let it with seven minutes left seon hits a big three to make it 116 106 the Jazz went up 10 then deante Murray gets

Hot deante Murray scores four straight the Jazz then go up by Johnny juen play then keante hits an eight-footer with 338 left to put us up eight and then free throws by Johnson Saxton makes one of the hustle plays of the night keante misses a three and Saxon knocks

The offensive rebound away goes up and reverse dunks it to put the Jazz up by eight Murray answer but then Keon makes the scoring play to put the ja keep the Jazz back up by eight after they score then Murray hits back to back threes and

Next thing you know it’s 124 122 so it’s pretty hard like if you go down to the final eight minutes Ron we got saon hitting a 20-footer we got sexon hitting a three we got sexon with the rebound pull away we got Keon with a nice little

Eight-footer but I think the answer is we have to find that one and probably will make a decision on it later saon probably makes the bigger plays late than Keon but both them were very good late in this game yeah it both of the from the guard line and and I totally

Agree with you as far as sex is concerned that play he made where he comes up with the steel and then dunks the basketball was remarkable and he just those hustle plays and you can just tell every time he makes a basket he runs down the floor like he’s he just

Won the ball game you know for the most part but he is so much fun to watch and you can always counting on him trying to make make the big play but you can just see this guard line which at the beginning of the year would not have

Worked as far as those two guys playing together but right now getting it together they took 35 shots between the two tonight fourth quarter tonight uh in this ball game keontay George Goes two of six has four Colin Saxon goes three of six has seven they score uh almost

All the Jazz points down the stretch Johnny juing uh also had some monster plays he had seven points in the fourth quarter but let’s zero in on Keon for a second he just is playing so free had another monster game tonight 25 points his efficiency is terrific eight of 19

Eight free throw attempts tonight we’re just seeing massive growth out of this kid massive growth and and he’s not tiring he played 34 minutes tonight he seems to be playing very much under control um but I like not only him I think the Jazz get a little careless with with the basketball sometimes

Careless meaning if there’s a Defender within where they can you know range where they can steal the basketball they still try to make the pass and and that’s how some of the passes get uh get picked off and I think uh uh that uh keante is guilty of that but otherwise

You know you’re looking at a guy that’s with tremendous growth from the beginning of the year and you could just tell he’s gonna be a star in this league you know Taylor Hendricks tonight got the assignment on Deonte Murray and deant Murray really was not very good

For most of the night he hits those big plays late but I think Taylor Hendrick length really bothered Deon Murray he had a miserable third quarter he went over 12 minutes in the middle of the game without scoring I think Taylor Hendricks kind of had that defensive

Night the jazzer open have and frankly I saw some things out of Taylor Hendricks tonight that has me much more excited about some of his offensive game than I ever seen he put the ball on the deck aggressively drove to the basket showed some things honestly we have not seen

Before that if they were a part of his repertoire it could really turn into something so the fact that the Jazz are not switching you can just see could be helping y more so than than hurting uh even though they give up some points Murray ended up what 10 for 27 I think

The only points he had in the third quarter was a field goal and the rest was free throws and then he comes to life there in the fourth quarter now uh Taylor ends up picking up five fouls most of those coming in the third or fourth quarter what did I have third

Quter he didn’t play much in the four in the third quarter and trying to defend Murray but you know he’s learning and he has the length uh I think the quickness footwork needs to be a little bit better but I think um he’s he’s learning two guys that stood out tonight deserve a

Lot of recognition Johnny Juan and Micah Potter got rotation minutes they both been in the g-league with the Jazz this year juang played 25 minutes had a career high 19 points uh tonight hit five Threes And if you remember he came to the Jazz as a mid-range shooter out

Of UCLA and he’s had to learn that three he had some tough summer league minutes when he’s had some tough last year at the end of the year he couldn’t hit anything it just looked so much better he had a neat little jab step that created some space quick release three

From the top just got to give give a kid a lot of credit for the amount of work he’s put in yeah it’s without a doubt I mean you the g g league is doing its job it’s helping develop players uh and and along with the developmental coaches you

Know so it’s doing its job and giving these guys a chance to coming to next season ready to go wjo uh doing a great job there deserves the shout out Steve uh his first year head coach of the Salt Lake star Scott Morrison Jazz assistant was the head coach last year Steve taken

Over this year done a really wonderful job the former Marquette head coach and um carried them through uh and done a and really been a a nice nice piece for them developing this Talent did did I hear he had a elementary school or junior high or something named after him

Or oh did he really something like that and you tell me I did not know someone needs to help me out with that but I yeah something to that effect Micah Potter is a personal favorite of ours because of who he is as a person what

Have you seen from him when I saw in the G League exactly what I saw tonight I mean he can he can play in this league he just needs time I I I think I think he’s ready and I think the Jazz think he’s ready there as well rebound he’s

Big I mean he’s strong enough he can shoot three I don’t know why that uh he he’s you know I think he’s ready to be on the team uh Jazz win it tonight 124 122 the last play of the game was really interesting Quinn Snyder throws it in

The back Court jant Murray what Quinn’s always like to do that’s his favorite thing he used to do with Donovan all the time and as he comes to front Court Jazz throw a double to jante Murr the M CRS half C crosses half court Murray makes

The ni nice play sends the skip pass across away uh and a missed three Will Hardy on top of that one and really the players executed that perfectly yeah executed it perfectly and just think about the timing because when he came across the the the time zone I me the

Three half court line they didn’t come right away and then once he start playing with a little bit and then all of a sudden Here Comes John Collins comes over they double now you got to make that cross score pass to um was that uh C cie and he ends up missing

Missing missing the shot because he didn’t have enough time to really catch you know and get rid of the ball and he probably did not expect C he probably did not making a rare NBA start and a guy who the Hawks releas last year playing because of the fact they have

The amount of injuries they have right now he probably did not think he was gonna be in an NBA Road Arena trying to shoot a gamewinner gamewinner the game winners are different Jazz also doubled off the right guy frankly give to jante Murray credit he made the right play at that

Point got rid of the ball gave them an open three to win it and that’s the right play late is to get that three so you know sometimes the irony of that by the way is the Jazz have been so horrifically unlucky recently on three-point shooting defense there is a

Level in this league where honestly wide openen three-point shooting is just luck of whether guys are making it or not and opponents are now making 41% of w open threes which is well higher than League average and there it was finally a wideopen three did not go in against the

Jazz to bring the numbers back back to their side um on that one but that has been that has been a a bad luck thing for the Jazz so far let’s go to the starting lineup you know with the Jazz started tonight with those three guys and John Collins an undersized Center um

Going against Capello it works um and but he’s boy he just rebounds he knows how to go get go to the glass he comes up with with with rebounds and and sometimes he gets in foul trouble because he you know under size but that lineup uh against this

Team uh worked tonight Jazz win it 124 122 they’ll be back at it tomorrow against Minnesota mik Conley’s return Rudy goar as well and their stars tonight Ron Boon uh how about Johnny Johnny juang and that’s Colin seon I mean he makes some hustle plays and

Makes some big plays Jazz win it fun night tonight we’ll be back tomorrow make sure you join us for postcast or join us on the broadcast Jazz win at 124 to 122 fun to see all the members of the Hawks coaching staff as well good
