This is Looking Much WORSE for the Raptors…

This is a major concern for the Toronto Raptors is one of the centerpieces in that Pascal cakam trade ahead of this year’s trade deadline was Bruce Brown and obviously that deal was made to acquire draft Capital to open up some flexibility for the future for this Toronto Raptors team and the team had

The opportunity to flip Bruce Brown once again for another first round pick the New York Knicks in particular in this year’s NBA draft however the team opted to keep Bruce Brown thinking his value would remain the same ahead of this year’s trade deadline however recent sort of reports and just eye test out

There on the court reveal that this probably isn’t still the case so we’re going to break down the concerning fact that Bruce Brown might be walking for nothing in the off season as well as a little update regarding Gary Trent Jr’s future contract and Jordan War getting

Some praise and looking at him as a potential keeper for the Toronto Raptor so lots of stuff to sink our teeth into so let’s dive in the first topic of discussion first thing we’re taking a look at is Bruce Brown potentially walking in the off season now anyone

That’s been watching or at least following the highlights you know subscribe to Raptors digest keeping up to date on the latest Toronto Raptors news kind of knows that Bruce Brown the Bruce Brown experiment hasn’t really worked for the Toronto Raptors his stats haven’t been horrific haven’t been you

Know crazy bad since he’s joined the Toronto Raptors I mean you know with the Indiana Pacers was averaging 12 points that’s only down to 9.4 you know the the rebounds are down he’s only shooting 27% from behind the three-point line which is pretty gross pretty ugly but they

Haven’t just completely fallen off a cliff so that’s one thing that might be taken as a little bit of a positive but he’s a guy that you know is 27 years old doesn’t really fit exactly what the torona Raptors want to do and he’s kind

Of been like a square peg in a round hole for the Toronto Raptors he doesn’t really fit you know around when Scotty Barnes was playing healthy you know the lack of shooting stuff like that now with Gary Trent Jr and Grady dick in the lineup you know hasn’t really been

Fitting perfectly and now the Raptors haven’t really been able to maximize haven’t really been able to elevate his trade value to close out this season and that’s what the Raptors in a bit of a conundrum and Michael gra sort of addressed this in a very speculative

Sort of piece you not really a lot of reporting in this one for Michael gra but basically said that Bruce Brown he’s a pending free agent unless the Raptors pick up his $23 million player option or um Team option his contract calls for for next season so he’ll be looking for

A new deal somewhere else the Raptors could be in that mix but Brown will have plenty of suitors at the midlevel and might be hard to keep as an awkward fit around Gary Trent Jr as well as Grady dick and uh if the lad are back I’d lean

In towards no him potentially being brought back again Michael grach I don’t think this is actual particular Insider information even though he is pretty locked in with the Raptor’s front office and maybe some will say oh gra 6 is gone he’s definitely coming back but basically what this reveals to me in the

Language used by Grange and just from us from Common Sense Raptors fans are the Raptors going going to buy in are they going to pick up a $23 million player option for a guy that again even looking at his entire season this year you know 64 plays the position that all the

Raptors are kind of loaded at right now you know PG shooting guard and small forward right not able to space the floor really to an extreme extent you know can be a role player can play off of different guys but is he a player that you really want to bring back for

20 plus million dollar maybe if it ensures you keep him if it ensures he’s back with this team and and you don’t want to let the asset walk but it doesn’t seem like at least Grange is thinking and I think a lot of toron raptors fans believe even though it’s an

Expiring it’s a one-year deal it makes sense for the Toronto Raptors to pick up that team option at the $23 Million number Mark so that leaves the Toronto Raptors in a tough spot because one that could just lead Bruce Brown to walk and maybe that’s the better option than

Giving him $23 million for next season but the factor in the Raptors could have had a first round pick and not a horrible first round pick either I mean the Knicks have been really good but they’re not you know the the Boston Celtics that’s early 20s mid 20s you

Know it’s still a solid draft pick in this year’s NBA draft so they could have had an assets such as that first round pick for him and you know it just it’s a sunk cost I guess at this point we can’t be stressing about stuff like that but

The Raptors trading away Pascal cakam for a pick that turned into Kelly oen and aaji which again I don’t think is horrible it’s a good return for that late first but then a per future protected Indiana pick as well as you know this year’s Indiana pick which

Could be Sol and stuff I don’t know for Pascal cakam it feels pretty light it feels like not the greatest of sort of pieces in return for the Toronto Raptors then you have an asset where you could have cashed in some value for him ahead of this year’s trade deadline I don’t

Know man I it just sucks to see because if he does end up going into free agency the Raptors don’t pick up that player that team option there’s no world he comes back to the Trump Raptors it doesn’t make sense for his game there’s going to be a bunch of teams interest in

Picking him up at the midlevel sort of uh the midlevel exception number I mean why on Earth would he stay with the Toronto Raptors it doesn’t it just doesn’t make sense especially if the team refused to give him that $20 million number so I don’t know it seems

Like there’s a real possibility the Raptors could get nothing for Bruce brown maybe you know trading him at the NBA draft that value could be there but we’ll see we’ll see how that all plays out let me know if you guys are concerned about Bruce Brown’s feature

With this team and next thing we’re taking a look at is a little quick update on Gary Trent Jr again uh updat SL speculation I know people don’t like Michael Grange and people are going to complain in comments y y y but gr did address uh Gary Trent Jr’s fature with

This team as well and he’s been a hot topic of discussion and he discussed how at this point it would be a mistake to let Gary Trent Jr walk for nothing as a free agent so borrowing something crazy happening I would predict he’ll return on a deal that not at all is different

From the one he just is finishing up with let’s say 3 years $60 million which keeps him around and keeps him tradable so $20 million per year for Gary Trent Jr that’s not a number that I’m going to you know pull my hair out scream at

Messi Jerry if he’s brought back for but the Raptors are trying to have flexibility they’re trying to have these sort of things and as Grange brings up $20 million per year still tradable you know it’s an interesting number but that is a lot for Gary Trent Jr who is extremely inconsistent even though

Overall he’s a net positive three point shooter but comparative to other guys in the NBA I mean Kevin herder you know does a little bit more out there on the court is also inconsistent as a three-point shooter himself is making $15 million per year again sign this contract the earlier you sign your

Contracts you know the the less the salary cap is up and things like that so that’s herder’s number I Bro Look broke these down yesterday’s video as well Duncan Robinson’s also making less and that number was looked at as a Ben have an overpay for the Miami Heat for a long

Time there but he just had a crazy game for the Heat last night so uh you know that’s sort of the going rate am I in love with that contract no but that’s sort of a number I guess we can expect for Gary Trent Jr if a deal were to go

Down so you know I think the open Market’s going to probably give him that number should the Raptors remains to be seen But the last thing we’re taking a look at is another guy that plays the shooting guard position and another guy that’s sort of in this boat and it’s

Jordan War who had a solid game against the Orlando Magic last night got some praise from Josh lomberg you know Following last night’s game basically saying Jordan War has been one of the bright spots in his two games set against the Orlando Magic he’ll need to get better defensively his future in the

NBA depends on it but the due can score even against Elite NBA defense 32 points on 12 of 16 shooting 47 from the three-point line in his last 35 minutes so again I’ve been the proponent that we should give Jordan War some more run to see if it’s worthwhile to keep him on

This team as a potential sort of microwave Off the Bench I mean wara he’s had some numbers he’s put up some numbers over the course of his NBA career particularly That season with the Indiana Pacers then went down with injury and stuff and that’s just sort of

How that season ended up going but uh you know de with some stuff and you know that 2023 2022 2023 double some injuries in that year but when he was traded to Indiana average 13 points per game he’s a guy that can put up numbers at the NBA

Level in terms of scoring again the rest of it as uh Lumberg kind of brought up defense and stuff I just want to see him play I want to see him get some opportunities for this team because he’s 25 years old now at this point and this

Should be really telling in terms of whether or not the team brings it back so I mean Darko rakovic has the opportunity to sort of play a lot of these deep bench guys I feel like war is a dude that’s earned a little bit more of a leash a little bit more opportunity

And we’ll see how things end up shaking out but let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below about all this Toronto Raptors news you guys the best make this far subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already I’m signing out cheers

Toronto Raptors guard Bruce Brown hasn’t been the right fit for the team so far, and now there’s serious concern that he might walk for nothing this off-season. Ben Rogers breaks down the latest on him and updates on Gary Trent Jr. and Jordan Nwora.

  1. Raptors should look to move Brown during the NBA playoffs when non-playoff teams can make trades and/or draft night to a team that is looking to create salary cap space in return for some serviceable players. 23 million for Brown is an insane amount though. I hope Masai doesn't pick up his option. 3/60 might not be enough for GTJ as some other team like Utah, SA, Orl, Det, might offer GTJ more. Nwora (25 years old) is good for a minimum contract non-rotation end of the bench player. When the Raptors are fully healthy his impact on the court will be minimal.

  2. BRUCE BROWN doesn't fit in RAPS culture
    GTJ is inconsistent but
he was shoved a lot this season with inconsistent minutes
He'll get probably 3/20 mil in the FA since he's
    25th 3P% shooter in
NBA. It's business we'll see soon enough 👍😮

  3. Val Demarr Pascal for 0. No champioship if 2 super stars on GSW dont go down in playoffs. Those 3 still playing like studs.

  4. Man Kuminga, or Mathurin straight up for Siakam would have been solid if not better then our trade return. RJ, Barnes and one of those two would have been sweet.

  5. I have no clue what the hell Masai is doing these days. Prob too busy counting all the money he's getting. I can only imagine what tannenbaum is saying these days after trying to convince everyone else he wasn't worth the contract they offered and eventually signed him for. Serious over pay.

  6. Brown can’t walk because his contract is a team opinion and not a player opinion. Either way I can see them packaging him with our second round pick to either get a late first rounder or a player if he can’t be moved alone for any real value. The reason they didn’t trade brown was because he couldn’t be packaged with other players or picks to get the most for him at that time. It made sense at the time to keep him because Imagine trading Brown for a first round pick to a playoff team and he goes on to help that team like he did with Denver and up’s his value. That team could then flip him for even more than just the first would pick they gave up for him because now he can be package with players and a pick in the offseason. It’s easy to know what we know now and say not trading Brown at the deadline was a bad move but I can understand why they didn’t do it. The Knicks could have ended up flipping Brown for more in the off season if he was successful there and the Raptors would look stupid. Just because he looks like trash here it doesn’t mean he would look like that on another team if the fit is right like it was in Denver. Also Brown is not playing for anything here so he’s likely not pushing himself like he would on a playoff team. . If the raptors get all 3 picks we don’t know if they plan on keeping all 3 either way so the thinking could have been if his value drops we can always package him with that 2nd round pick. That team option the Raptors have with Brown contract give’s them flexibility because they can control what to do with him. They can let him walk, they can trade him, hell they can offer him a new contract. If he had a player option than he control’s what he wants to do and could just walk.

  7. Of course the raps pick up the team option, then trade him next season. Why would they just let another player with value just walk away for nothing again? If they do then Ujiri has lost his mind and needs to explain his plan.

  8. Guys it doesn't matter if we keep Brown or if we let him go…. we're going to suck next year too and the year after.

  9. Knicks got better players without having to give up any first rounds picks. There ended up being no first round pick offers for brown otherwise they would have traded him. Again there was no first round pick offer from the knicks. It was reported rumoured discussions.

The Center piece of the Pascal trade was always the picks not the players……

I think if there’s a player in free agency that the raptors can use some of that money to upgrade I could see brown being let go. The nature of his contract doesn’t allow him to be extended. If they pick up that team option they could hope his play improves abit and a contender wants him as an expiring rental for a playoff run. There’s some options there. A lot of the players playing right now will not be around next season.
GTJ 20 mil a year to pigeon hole your team into starting him, when he’s a 7th/8th man on any contending team in the NBA no thank you.

  10. I would not be upset if Brown and GTJ left for “nothing” this off-season because it’s not really for nothing – it would clear a lot of cap space and offer flexibility to the front office. All that cap space is more valuable than the late first you could get for these guys at best along with longer contracts you’d have to take on.
