OK, I just gotta rant for a sec… The Nets seem to have a peculiar amount of confidence rn in getting a star here.

This isn’t just a “We want to develop the right way” or “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there” scenario. All the signs are saying they want to get back to championship contention after THIS summer. My question is… Who in the world are they putting stock in to come here?

They must be talking with someone, and have gotten some sort of lowkey handshake agreement. Because if we leave this summer without a star in some shape or form, then Marks truly does need to be fired. There’s too much smoke right now to just end up running it back with this pathetic roster.

    This franchise is actually embarrassing.

quite literally our only hope is is donovan mitchell jions as a free agent in 2025. We can’t trade for someone this team sucks too much to do that. Mitchell joins as a free agent, and then you can potentially attract another star in trade. that team still isnt elite or anything but it’d be a solid playoff team.

  4. I mean they’re not wrong. It’s kinda the point of why we handled Harden, Kyrie and KD with the kiddie gloves. It showed the rest of the league that we’re very player friendly, and it’s paid off to some extent. We’ve since had Dame, Beal and DJM include us in their preferred destinations.

I’m sure stars want to come here and and hear louder cheers for the opposing team on their home court. Or even hear cheers when they miss free throws when they play the knicks.

Uh, fellas……..this is the NBA. You’re not running the Duke basketball program.

    “Recruit players”. Lol.

It makes sense, wouldn’t say it works but clearly there’s a draw to coming here for some

All I’m hoping for is that all these reports about BRK’s direction going star chasing is a tact to try and get HOU anxious about the value of their 26 pick and 27 swap (Since those picks would be 20~25 if we go star hunting) so there is some off season trade with Mikal. It wouldn’t make sense for BRK to leak that they plan to rebuild (Thus lowering their position).

Going star chasing will only result in (imo and feel free to disagree):

    * Another 3~5 years of no draft capital (since all will be used on a trade)

*25 season being a rehash of this year as we get rid of Simmons contract

    * All our rooks/ CT being used as trade pieces

    * 2nd round ceiling at most. Most championships in the past decade are won through drafting at least 1 franchise player (DEN, MIL, GSW) and several contendors (BOS, MIN, OKC). I just can’t see another KD/ Kyrie happening in the current CBA.

It seems that they want to follow the Miami model, which can be done in Brooklyn. But not without a Pat Riley type at the helm…

They are going to overpay for mid tier stars to field a competitive team and be the Pacers so get ready

Because it worked so well for 40 years with the Knicks

  12. It’s hard because we barely have players of any strong value (I guess there’s mikal but we tanked his value after this season). What makes it harder is that we don’t even have a coach that players want to play for. Nash and jv were definitely not it.
