Coach obviously they were missing some guys tonight but a physical game like you expected how do you feel your guys uh you know met met that in terms of mindset and approach oh outstanding I think um you know going into the game the biggest concern I had was one

Obviously scoring against our defense number one defense the last 10 games but then there going to be our ability to defensive rebound they’re the number one offensive rebound team in the league uh and to only give them four offensive rebounds is a a testament to our guys

Being locked in engaged and have having a physical mindset um that’s a good team they’ve won four in a row I know they have guys out um but you know the score I think 66 in the paint 16 in transition 17 Second Chance points um obviously Michael franchise record now 193 made

Threes in the season uh he continues to shoot the ball 13 to 16 uh I told him just now I said go to Cabo whenever you want I’ll pay for it go to Cabo uh Nico another triple double and um obviously Jamal Aaron eight assists so I thought

Everybody contributed and they went on that run to start the fourth quarter we got our guys back in and kind of retook control of the game and were able to hold on can you speak on Michael’s physical nature too of how he’s playing yeah well he he looks you know healthy

He looks rested um I mean that move he had he drove didn’t have anything threw it off the backboard and went up I mean that’s that’s a hell of a play to do in a live basketball game you don’t see that very often but then on top of that

Just some of his aggressive drives to the basket like he’s not just a jump shooter he’s shown he can get downhill attack and finish in traffic uh so I think Michael’s game right now is just uh firing on all cylinders and and he’s healthy which is a big part of that did

Uh did Jamal just turn an ankle on that landing at the end or was there anything else yeah just turned his ankle a little bit okay did you talk to him at all as he was he uh just quickly you know um was in there we’re talking to all the

Guys but go back in there always get the uh the Roundup from our training staff to make sure everybody’s good bron bron finished with 26 but I thought the job kcp did work it was really phenomenal I I couldn’t agree more and uh you know he got defensive player of the game again

Um and you know all the guys in the locker room they call him first team I I just really sincerely hope that the national media and and everybody else following this great League really takes into account the job he does every night we see it I see it

Every day you guys get a chance to see it but he is an incredible defensive player and you don’t stop a guy like Jaylen Brenson I mean he had two 40o games on this road trip but I thought he made him work for everything tonight and

Um now you can’t say enough good things about kabi’s cwell Pope he’s a pro he’s a leader he’s about all the right things completely selfless and he goes out there and does his job every single night uh to the best of his ability and uh and that’s why we call him first team

CU he is a first team all NBA defender in our eyes you kind of touched on it but Mike was 10 of 10 inside the arc where have you seen his kind of comfort or confidence grow most when he’s driving or pulling up for Mees yeah you

Know after shoot around this morning you know I grabbed him quickly because he in Minnesota you know we don’t win that game without Michael Porter you know he goes on a 70 run by himself in the middle of an 18 to6 run and there was you know he he gets so much attention

And people are trying to keep him from coming up the floor and he back cut it and got a big dunk and I told him to I said there are so many easy baskets out there for you like you don’t you you don’t have to work as hard as you’re

Working sometimes and cutting uh moving without it running the floor uh but then just uh the ability to put the ball on the floor operate in traffic and they go up and finish um that that’s to me is the as you mentioned 13 and 16 only took

63 and all the other ones were right at the rim and he was finishing at a very high percentage I know nothing is totally unbelievable with Nicole but could you tell that uh that shot with about five minutes left went over the back and over the top of the

Backboard yeah I mean it’s uh every time the guy shoots the ball whether it’s from half court against Golden State or behind the backboard tonight uh he has an uncanny uncanny ability to make and uh make tough shots and um again you know I just caution everybody not to

Take it for granted not that anybody does but um another triple double his numbers since the All-Star break I think we’re 13- two he’s averaging close to a triple double in that time um almost two steals about a block per game and doing it at a very high percentage from all

Areas of the floor um he’s he’s an MVP candidate every year for a reason there were loads of highlights tonight did you have a favorite uh the final score yeah the final score is always a favorite uh highlight um but I I think some of the defensive plays I mean like kyp and

Transition you know not quitting on play staying in there I thought Jamal Murray had a couple of great passes Aaron Gordon had a couple of great passes um yeah it’s we’re playing at a high level and the and the challenge is for 12 to go can we continue to keep this up and

Stay healthy while doing so um but I I think our players deserve so much credit for their mindset and approach every single night sorry coach uh joic rarely shoots tons of free throws and I’m just curious if you think there’s any chance playing through that a lot maybe helps

Prepare him for games like these or the playoffs where maybe a lot of modern offensive players they eat at the free throw line yic that’s not really his approach well yeah I mean he’s playing he’s been playing through fouls in contact for nine years right I mean uh

There have been plenty of emails and phone calls about obviously we always think he deserves more free throws um you know we got 20 tonight they got 17 are pretty close in terms of uh you know being even across the board I do know that I think free throw attempts have

Been uh we down since the All-Star break in general um but yeah I think Nicole uh I give him a ton of credit um just playing through the the H holding the grabbing the fouls that may not be called and that’s what the playoffs are

I mean you know we went through for 20 games last year playoff basketball is a grind and you’re going to get beat up and uh not allowing that to take you out of your game staying the course early in Nicole’s career that was an issue and as

He’s grown up and mature he handles that adversity uh a lot better and uh I’m proud for him as he continues to improve in all areas of the game on and off the court thank you thanks everybody
