As an avid KFS listener, Macri has more than atoned for these words. But yes, this is a historic Ice Cold Take 😂

I fw Macri but that Frank talk is the same shit that I hate to the core in the Knicksverse.

Its always “You wont see it in the stats but trust my eye test bro”. Nothing is more (Banned word) than the average Knicks fan eye test when it comes to Homegrown players.

  3. YanksJetsKnicks

I mean, there were a lot of Knicks fans with some terrible takes regarding Frank lol

  4. Odd-Hovercraft-1286

Frank never passed the eye test on offense. Low motor and just completely scared of the ball. Dude couldn’t shoot or playmake and handles were mid asf. Tenacious defender but still too weak to handle bigger guards

  5. severinks

Frank sucked but I was pot committed to the guy so I stayed on board way longer than I should have.

I was once a Frank believer as well. I honestly thought that bigger guards were going to be the new thing. I was definitely wrong and I never even considered that Brunson would be as good as he is
So I admit to two L’s

  7. mightymatty

L take but Macri is still my fuckin guy.

to be fair, their potentials were, in fact, nowhere in the same universe. just got the order mixed up

It’s always interesting to look back at things, but I hate the Monday morning quarterbacking that always happens. These are opinions formed using the information that was available at the time. Of course the judgement is different now. We have the benefit of the numerous years of information we’ve seen since.

I’m not gunna bash an old take for not having the information we have now

Brunson is better than Frank *right now*, but give it a couple years. Their ceilings aren’t in the same universe

No one saw Brunson becoming the player he’s become and everyone looks like a genius with the benefit of hindsight. Macri’s take isn’t far off from the delusional posts here swearing Frank was going to be this lockdowm three and d guy and that Brunson’s contract was an overpay.

  12. I remember when the KP trade happened I was mad that Steve Mills couldn’t even get something minor thrown in like this rookie 2nd round pick Jalen Brunson. We needed a PG too.

He was definitely right about them not being in the same universe

I remember all the talk about Brunson was that he was so skilled and clearly one of the best college players, but the main question was how would his overall package translate to the NBA.

There are many dominant college players that don’t have what it takes in the next level.

But, watching Brunson, especially in the tourneys, he was the complete package.

He had it all and most impressively he could play in the post and finish near the rim with a wide array of moves.

I don’t think, to this day, I’ve ever seen a college player have such a polished post up game like Brunson, other than that guy that won it all with Syracuse.
