Trey Murphy III talks Devin Booker’s performance, loss | Pelicans-Suns Postgame Interview 4/1/2024
Yeah I mean with with Booker tonight was that just a a great player making great great plays what’ you see early on specifically with him um that just came out with a lot of pace um a lot of energy um he had some tough shots but
Also he contribute to it a little bit as well you a lot of that comeback you guys made it was you know Zion at the five um I guess what do you think just like worked in those minutes with the all tonight I mean the biggest thing for us
When we have him at the five is rebounding um if we’re able to rebound then offensively the teams aren’t able to guard us because there just so much space on the court and then Z is able to operate and get to wherever he wants to yeah these last two games we’ve seen
Them be real blatant about just leaving their Center in the lane and kind of ignoring the fives I guess what do you think y’all should do to respond when teams are being that aggressive trying to keep people in the paint to to protect you know the R against Z
Different things we can do obviously connecting um hitting handb backs hitting the five in you know finding another shooter you know because of five man is in the paint they’re not able to contest that um and also our F can knock it down just stay there be confident
Knock down shots as well and we talked a lot coming into this home stand about how big it would be for y’all you know playing a lot of the elite teams just getting off to a slow start I guess what’s the the message between you guys
About you know finding a way to respond in these last two games um just coming out first quarter and really setting the tone um Ian we played probably a good 28 minutes and um it’s just not enough especially against good teams like that especially with guys that can hit shots so I think
That’s the biggest thing you talking about those like handbag situations or just you know those bigs to kind of pull someone out the paint just going into hand offer but shooter um is that have to be a read and react thing on the court for you guys or is there like
Active like play calls um so you guys R of things I mean that’s just playing basketball it’s just we just got to get to it um obviously it can be a play call but for the most part that’s just playing basketball seeing who’s open and just making that next level decision
Next Level uh playmaking decision it it seems like this season um you guys have done a lot of different things offensively I think early on in the season the shooters were moving a lot more just coming off a lot of screens and stuff right now it appears to me
That there’s just a lot of you’re spacing more so than than moving would you say that’s a fair characterization and and in two like should that be like a more matchup dependent thing yeah I mean that’s something we go over and film spacing is our key when we don’t
Have spacing then we’re not able to really run good offense and so U we just got to be really um just really really uh paying attention to getting to our Corners as well as high slots and you know getting the iso spacing for you know Z and uh CJ as
Well and Trey with no bi and uh you’re just now talking about the spacing is that why we saw Zion I think not get his first field goal to until about eight minutes in I mean I I don’t I don’t know for sure I’m sure he was just just playing
Within the flow of the game I don’t I don’t know for sure if that has anything to do with uh B being missing or anything I think he was just playing with within the flow of the game
