What The Pascal SIakam Trade REALLY Means For The Raptors
Breaking news from Adrien Ro narowski of ESPN the Toronto Raptors have traded Pascal sakam to the Indiana Pacers so in this video we break down what this really means for the Raptors going forward and who actually won this trade let’s get into it this is amateur R Sports the YouTube

To be without Pascal zakum he has been traded to the Indiana Pacers and even though it felt like a new era began in the summer when the Raptors lost foran V the frency they fired Nick nurse and replac him with dark rakovich a lot of the themes of last season spilt over
Into this season but finally it seems finally msii and Bobby Webster are attempting to take this team in a different direction and that direction is going to be without Pascal cakam being involved the reset button well and truly has been hit with this trade as cakam has been sent to the Indiana
Pacers in exchange for three first round picks the 2024 first round pick from Indiana the 2026 first round pick from Indiana and a 2024 first round pick which will be the least favorable of the picks from either the Jazz the Rockets the Clippers or the Thunder so Indiana’s
Pick probably going to be in the 20s this year the least favorable of those four teams the way OKC is playing the way the Clippers are playing that’s probably going to be 25 to 30 and the 2026 Indiana pick with the thing they’re building right now probably expecting to
Sign cakam longterm Tyrese Halburn only getting better that’s probably not going to be a great pick either but along with those three first round picks the Raptors were also able to net maybe not the most interesting players in the deal Bruce Brown and Jordan deara come to the
Raptors from the Pacers as well as from the New Orleans Pelicans Kira Lewis so all in all for this trade the Raptors get three players none of which being pretty very interesting prospects and three not so great first round picks like the Allure of hearing three first
Round picks for a player three first round picks for Pascal yakum I mean to perhaps a common NBA fan that sounds great three first round picks I mean pull the trigger this is an expiring contract but not all first round picks are created equal here these are three
Not so great first round picks and on the surface it seems a little bit upsetting here that the Raptors couldn’t swing any player of interest in this trade like they couldn’t get jarus Walker they couldn’t get Ben mathine I mean those two I guess are a bit more understandable but you couldn’t even
Swing like a Jaylen Smith in this deal Jordan Noir is not interesting to me Kira Lewis is not interesting to me the one interesting note about Bruce Brown who I a very big fan of as a player is the one interesting note here is that
Well there’s not really a lot of use for Bruce Brown in this team worst case it is a contract that can come off the books at the end of the year because he’s waking making way too much money he was on $20 million for this season and
He’s got a team option worth $20 million for next season that’s a bit of an overpay for Bruce Brown so hopefully Bruce Brown is a player who could elevated Contender hopefully the Raptors are able to reroute this player maybe add on to the deal a little bit more but
Overall all looking at the situation that was brewing with sakam and what was going on with the player this trade isn’t that bad given this situation the Raptors probably did what they could and got what they could out of this deal in feeling out the market here they wanted
To get this done it seemed like they were very intent on getting this done as quick as possible did not seem like Messiah jiri wanted cakman part of this team’s future as I alluded to actually in yesterday’s video on the channel which I can put up here the Raptors
Wanted to move on from Pascal sakam given the situ situation they did a decent job however the reason the situation was so dire the reason the situation was as bad as it is and as bad as it got was on the front office the front office created this negative
Situation by decreasing Pascal’s value by consistently hinting at a possible trade consistently hinting at the fact that they don’t really want it to be part of this team’s future and based on the way he’s been used this season on court where he has definitely not been
The priority for this team in any shape whatsoever and sure Scotty Barn can be the priority but Pascal seak as good as he is if you want to win basketball games should have had a lot more looks on the court so was everything making it apparent the Raptors did wanted no part
Of shakum the value decreased to the player if they really wanted to trade him they should have kept tight lipped in the summer moved them in the summer instead they take a cut price deal for cakam which I said in yesterday’s video if they want to trade cakam it’s like
Going to be a cut price deal as far as what this means for the Raptors and their plans going forward this just screams out to me that they wanted no part of Pascal cakam and by any means necessary were going to be prepared to trade him they wanted to move on without
Cakam and it’s very rare from messai to go through a cut price deal in order to make that happen now what we can assess of this situation is that seak was on an expiring deal the relationship definitely was tainted between him and the front office so at the very least
Messi has learned from his mistakes learned from the mistakes of last year losing Fred Van vet for nothing and said that let’s just get something out of Pascal cakam now and start fresh and move on through the future but the Raptors the front office they really back themselves down in a corner here
They really backed themselves down in a corner with Pascal sakam and you thought they did that with OG even more so with Pascal sakam so ultimately given where we’re at there’s not a too much of a complaint from myself as far as what the valuation that
They got for Pascal cakam is at least now for the rest of the season there’s certainty we are assured the direction of this team who they are building around and what needs to be done now the depth as far as the forward and Center positions now well when we used to have
All this forward depth perhaps now that is a little bit lacking for this team but we’re going to start to see perhaps Scotty Barnes take on an even bigger role for this team Emanuel quickley and RJ bar are going to step into bigger roles as well and the Raptors along the
Way are going to have to find the right pieces to Tiner this roster to Tinker this team and perhaps get maybe even more as we get closer and closer to that 2024 trade deadline in February here but despite this given the situation three first round picks salary filling players
Perhaps they can rroo Bruce Brown in some capacity who is the real winner of this trade between the Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors now the new Orland Pelicans actually had a small part to play in the deal as well here with kir Lewis being involved and a
Second round pick being involved but let’s consider this from an Indiana and Toronto perspective who is the winner of this trade well considering the way the Raptors handled this whole business the trade as it was it’s hard to say that the Raptors were the winners in this
Deal but you look at the Pacers and what they had to give up here you you you have to expect that there’s some sort of desire in place they were able to feel him out maybe a handshake maybe a winky wink agreement between cakma and the
Pacers that cakma is going to stay with that team long term he’s going to sign his max extension there the Pacers have his bird rights they can give him a big contract perhaps they they can afford to do so with a bit of extra cap space they
Can free up in the summer you’d have to feel as though there’s optimism on the Pacers perspective that he can sign but it’s absolutely not going to be a guarantee and he’s made it pretty clear publicly Pascal that he has no intentions to resign with whoever he’s
Traded to and he kind of wants to test agency so from that perspective three first round picks coming from the Pacers I know they’re not great first round picks three first round picks for possibly a rental player in a year in which like the Pacers look better now
They look better the defense has improved the offense has improved dramatically on this team they didn’t lose any key pieces really and got dramatic ically better on offense with Pascal seagen coming to the team but does that Vault him up to where the Sixers are does that Vault him up to
Where the the Bucks are it definitely doesn’t Vault them up to where the Celtics are so as far as his trade is concerned they’ve really splashed for a rental player maybe not a rental but for now a rental player and they still aren’t one of the best in the Eastern
Conference and to me looking at the trade for the Pacers I don’t really like it for them either so if you absolutely made me pick who won this trade I’d probably have to go with the Raptors though I don’t think this is a stupendous return for the Raptors I’m
Just not sure it really made sense for the Pacers to go and do this right now I guess they really wanted to see what they had for the rest of season really give some help to Tyrese halber for the rest of the season and hey they maybe
They see some openings that they want to attack in the East personally I don’t see it but I’m not going to comment from an Indiana perspective if they resign him and have him long term then maybe this makes sense yakum is still an elite offensive player and he’s is going to
Look even better with the floor space and the Indiana page are going to provide him cakam I mean I’m a huge fan of seak I decided to rock the seak jersey for this one here today it’s sad to see him go but if he’s there long
Term it’s a great situation for him to succeed in a town that’s crazy about basketball and is going to covet a player of his caliber with two two All-Star appearances and two all-nba appearances on a resume MIP a g-league Finals MVP and of course an NBA champion
A basketball crazy place like Indiana is going to relish having a player of that caliber coming into their team and pairing him with Tyrese Halton from a neutral NBA fan perspective thinking about that duo it’s kind of exciting but the focus here is of course with what
The Raptors did trying to brush aside obviously the situation that was created by the front office and that limited what the Raptors could get in this deal the Raptors are starting fresh year three first round picks now all of a sudden they have a late first round pick
Two late first round picks for this season as well as an early second round pick three pretty exciting players the Raptors can swing in the draft for this upcoming season maybe even an extra pick can be added on if they can move Bruce Brown as well and reroute him somewhere
Else where he’s going to be on more of a contending team a 2026 first- round pick to have as well going forward maybe even the Raptors like it’s possible at this point now that they slip to a point where they fall a bottom six in the
Lottery and all of a sudden they have their own first round pick to use this season a lot of that can factor in here but what’s nice and what’s refreshing as much as the deal is kind of me what’s refreshing is we have an understanding of what the direction of this team and
Where this team is heading and who this team is building around and the roster as it stands right now needs work but the work starts now we know what we have we know what we have to do it’s on the front office to start to rectify the
Problems that they created in the past to try and shape this team the way they want to around Scotty Barnes again sad to see Pascal go but ultimately a necessary trade here did not want to see another player leave for free the Raptors stopped wasting their
Time here got it done we’re ready for a new era in Toronto let’s see where this team and this core can take us especially if the core does shake up with three additional maybe four additional players coming in that upcoming draft so what do you make of
The yakum trade who won the trade and what do you think this means for the Raptors give me all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments down below that’s all for me for today smash that like button you enjoyed subscribe for more Raptor content and check out amateur sports’s Sportsbook partner bet

Raptors fans, are you happy with this trade?
The honeymoon is officially over. Let’s see what Scottie is really about.
It’s a good trade and it isn’t over yet. They will trade Brown on draft night packages with at least one pick for youth or better picks. They will trade our expiring contracts and package with a pick at the deadline. This needs to play out. Masai got the best deal he could.
hes prob gonna come back in of season
siakam said he would not sign to any other teams expect the raptors
Pascal screwed them.
"kinda meh!" is the best we can expect from the unnecessarily bad pst couple seasons of front office decisions. The winner IMO is still IND cause they got the best player in the deal. People are all down of the picks in the draft but I don't mins at all. if it were picks from the last three drafts then I would be like, yeah those are bad picks. But 2024 s a diff story cause there are no clear stars in the draft. At best, we have some strong role players / stater level players in the top-5 but that's about it. This 2024 draft is being compared to 2013 and even the 2000 draft where there wan't too much hype on anything. At least now we have a possible 4 chances to get Bronny hehe
Comparing this to the Hawks offer of Deandre Hunter, AJ Griffin and Hawks' 2029 1st, this is still better IMO. Recent picks means we can build around Scottie right away. Hunter and AJ IMO are worth almost the same as two late round picks. A case can be made for a mid-1st rounder for Hunter but IMO he just has't lived upto his high selection level. Griffin may be worth a late first now that his numbers have dripped and out of the rotaion, maybe even an ealy second. The 2029 pick is too far in the future to clearly judege where it will end up.
At the end of the day, we have to be honest with ourselves… no one is going to give away multiple lottery picks without heavy protections for an expireing Siakam. The Gorbert, Mitchell and Murray picks without protections was a bad move by MIN, CLE and ATL. But the deals had soem years on them so maybe it's okay. There should be some level of control over ones future. Even the Raps top-6 protected to SAS is not too bad if Raps end up having a 5th-7th worst record. Raps were never gonna extend Siakam. This is almost the same kinda deal they would have gotten, only slightly better picks. Now we have more touches for the young ones. Look out for more touches given to IQ and RJ.
Really don’t think he resigns there, Philly can just sign him and he gets to play with embiid
Ohh shut up, you are always complaining. You were the one criticizing the front office for not trading core players, now you are unhappy for them trading Pascal for a expiring contract.
All things considered it was a good trade. Pascal is way overrated and should have been gone a year ago. This year he was exposed and couldn't even lead a team to beat a miserable Pistons squad.
saying raptors won this trade is insane lol
At this point I’d sell out and go for a top 5 pick and draft even more Kentucky players
Start Nowell
I couldn't care less about first round draft picks. I only care about starters and battle-tested players who are clutch in today's game. Apart from Scotty, our draft pick selections have been disasters in recent years. I'm not even impressed with our current ones. The Raptors now aren't going to be relevant for the next 3 years out. And that's if these draft picks even pan out. We lost this trade. It's not a good one.
Could have got more if we traded him a year ago. Now we have to get lucky with one of those late 1st rd picks.
Pascal to resign with raps in free agency 💀💀💀💀
The return given the situation isn't bad. But ask yourself, who put and why were we in this situation?
Bruce Brown coming here maybe means Trent Jr. and a pick getting traded for a PF/C? Hopefully McDaniels gets sent too, I think Nwora will take his place.
Not happy with this trade. I felt he was the best player on the team. Siakam is one of the best players in the NBA.
Ffs that sucks man big time
Worst trade for Raptors
Masai better not fail scottie like he did pascal
I bet Masai didn't go up to siakam's face and told him he was being traded.
Pacers can make the conference finals this season
The Pacers will finish in the top 5 in the East. Expect another move before the trade deadline or during the off season. Brown is a nice player but is overpaid and the picks out of this will all be early to mid 20’s. Pacers don’t lose on any level.
I would have finished the season with him and then offer 3yrs on a new contract, but he wanted 4yrs. So unfortunately I'd trade him too at that point. Trade itself is fine. Management didn't want to take on larger contracts and get themselves tied down in the future.
Bang on assessment. Wasn’t the best trade, but not the worst either. Re-signing Siakam wasn’t an option for supermax money and getting something for him versus nothing was preferable. As you said, the deal should have been done in the summer, and quietly. But what’s done is done now.
Yes and no. I really like that Toronto got three firsts back, which makes a lot of sense. I also like the team option on Bruce Brown’s contract which gives them a lot of flexibility. I don’t like that they couldn’t work Jarace into the deal, and feel that they possibly could have if they pushed things closer to the deadline. All things considered, a great return. I ❤️ Pascal but am sure glad I’m not the team that will need to offer him a massive contract to keep him.
I like the trade, 3 first round picks. Smart move/
🎉😂
Well, it's interesting that one of our best games of the season came the first game post Pascal. This could turn out to be a great trade. I'm excited.
Raptors traded OG and Pascal for
Immanuel Quickly
Rj Barrett
Kira Lewis
Bruce brown
Jordan Nwora
3 1st round picks
Detroits 2024 2nd round pick
W?
Were not Siakam and Anunoby late first round picks?
Siakam pounds the ball into the paint and goes for a spin shot, He goes for fake lay up shots looking for the foul then misses 1/2 those. that's it. He is not a team leader. He is Demar Derozan
No. You raptor’s fans would not let the situation lie. All of you with big mouth will come on you tube everyday trade siakam or masai is in trouble. Unnecessary content. You guys want first round picks you got one. Everyday Masai traded our VP first round pick ,
No 2024 first round pick
Nice take.
The trade is good, I think they could’ve done it last summer bit maybe there wasn’t a package that they liked. We don’t know that yet. I don’t think the trade is done either. Also for reference Michael Grange reported that the raptors did end offering pascal a deal last year I believe, but Pascal wanted more money and that’s why they didn’t get it done. pascal wanted the supermax and they didn’t want to pay him.
I was expecting or hoping for a proven young elite 3rd year type player like RJ Barrett is. I would have preferred John kuminga, Moses moody and wiggins for siakim and another player like Otis porter or Trent jr or whatever for me I dont like it either we got nothing but I understand the circumstances but yeah they should of pulled the deal a year earlier.
Ur opinion on rj was very wrong in the other video
This means that the Raps are all in on Scottie, Quick and RJ and now understand what it means to truly build a roster around them that makes sense. Cheers to Pascal but I'm all about this new era Raps squad which is only going to get better with the draft capital we just acquired.
I want to see this trade open up Yacob Poetl, no one is giving their take on his usage going forward.
IND alright now won this trade…. A- (if Siakam doesn’t resign)but could be A+ (if Siakam resigns)
Reason: they didn’t give up any of their good young assets and without Siakam they are already a top 4-6 team in the East….and if Siakam walks then they will still be in the same position next year… which is a really good place
Raptors I give a C+ but still to TBD to see if Brown can be flipped for other picks or players and what players the select with the picks or what other trades they make…
It's so bizarre that some like Bruce Brown makes like 50% more then Conner McDavid and Austin Mathews. I just cant take the NBA seriously because of it. The contracts are just wild, and unjustified for their contributions to the league.
It can be a great trade if they draft well. Barnes and Barrett and Quickley need more talent close to their age.
