Chet Holmgren: “If there’s a game where health-wise it’s not smart to play, yes, I’ll put my health in front of my ego. But if I can go out there and play, I’m gonna go out there and play. If you give me the option to play, I’m gonna play.”

Hey folks, I’m David, and I have a [profile today on GQ Sports](https://www.gq.com/story/chet-holmgren-rookie-year-profile) about Chet. I wrote [this story about him in The New York Times](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/20/sports/basketball/chet-holmgren-oklahoma-city-thunder-nba.html), which you all were nice enough to share and discuss. Hope you enjoy this new one too, and I’m happy to answer any questions if you there are any. I’ll check back in later tonight. Thanks for reading!

  1. Great article and the presentation on the webpage is nice as well.

Question: Did Chet ever mention feeling any pain left over from last year’s injury? Did he mention or chalk his fatigue up to anything other than a tough schedule?

Refreshing mindset from a player this day and age, a lot of guys looking for any little excuse to take games off. Got that dawg in him

    > “I’ve been hearing it my whole life: ‘He’s not gonna be able to hold up. He’s too skinny,’” Holmgren told me on the phone in late March. “Then last year happens, and it’s like, ‘Ah, fuck, I gotta hear it 10 times as much for this whole year.’”

This is confirmation that Chet ain’t resting. He’s going to fight Vanessa before he is seen in street clothes.
