Last time the west was this competitive

Due to the competitiveness in the western conference this year, I was curious the last time it was like this. So wild Denver was an 8th seed with 50 wins back in 08.

I would be so annoyed missing the playoffs with 48 wins

    Edit: 48 not 38

This was when the East was horrible. The wolves would have made playoffs in some of those years damn near lol

Weird, I don’t see the wolves on this list. Must’ve been before expansion, right? Right?

Wow the hornets were actually good once?

Lots of wins gained from the wolves that year

This has to be one of the Kevin Love years right?

That was such an insane year. 50 wins needed just to get into the playoffs was unreal. I was shocked we managed to win 22 with a third of our games against 50 win teams.

That was an insanely dominant West at the top.

But damn… 48-34 and missing the playoffs? Meanwhile a 37 win Hawk team got in in the East. The Cavs were a 4 seed in the East with 45 wins.

    41-41 there is the 10 seed…

As of today, The Warriors are the 10 seed. They are 42-34 and on a 23-10 run over the last 33 games. In that run their win% is 69.7%. That’s a better win rate than their last two teams to make the NBA finals.

Meanwhile LA is in the 9th seed. Same place they were before New Years at 24-25. Since then they’ve gone 20-8. And are still the 9th seed.

And at the end of it all, Lakers go 12-3 in the Western Conference playoffs… then lose 2-4 to the Celtics.

This must be 2010-11ish? One of my favorite eras of the league. Kobe, Nash, Duncan, Deron Williams, CP3, Dirk, Melo, Dwight. Many of them being in their prime. And the Celtics big 3 along with the heats new big 3. I remember every round of the playoffs being a bloodbath.
