I we don’t go the distance this year, I think the only thing we need to add a a guy who is a knock down 3 point shooter. Tim was kinda that guy, but we need someone more consistent! Other than that, this team should run it back!

……. hoping D-Live's "knee strain" doesn't mean ligament damage……. and i saw Josh roll that ankle! When i did that, the recovery was measured in months…. but glad to see Jaden Hardy get some time on the floor…. he's the future! …. and i don't know why people get down on any shooter on this team…. they all have posted percentages and that means missing more than they make… but of the present starting nine, there's not a one of them that shouldn't let it fly anytime they get an open shot! Shooters are streaky… even Luka but he knows his stats and just keeps on shooting….
We need 3 more pieces keep Luka, Irving, Liv, Gafford, PJ, OMax, Exum and Jones solid 8 to build on. Others use for trading, 1st choice LM from Jazz, 2nd experienced Wing that hopefully has championship experience looking for his last chance to win another ring. 3rd backup point guard that can defend on ball and hit open 3's. Start Luka, Irving, PJ, LM and Liv. Exum, Jones, Gafford and new 3 players round out the top 11 players. Omax still developing and hopefully can get into top 10 rotation next year. THJ , Green, Maxi, Hardy and Powell have been given every opportunity and either through injuries or talent doesn't seem to be players that will help us win a ring. If THJ & Maxi can hit their wide open 3's then Yes definitely keep em, but they have just been way too inconsistent this year. Lawson haven't seen him play enough. Hardy just not a balanced enough dribbler, passer but especially defender to break top 10 unless injuries. Powell and Morris round out roster but a experienced back up point and 3DWing that can hit open 3's and give you 5 to 10 quality mins will fit much better IMO. If team as is picks up hitting 3 ball and give effort on D side then just go get LM. Think Luka & Irving at guards with LM at 3 and Liv at 4 and Gafford at 5 would be interesting to see if it would work. Big fan of LM 7 footer who runs floor and finishes plus hits 3. Just don't know if Liv can play 4 and shoot enough so probably gotta keep him and Gafford at 5 and side LM to 4 and run PJ at 3.

There is a reason Luka is doubled more than any player in the league by far and gets other teams best defender full court every play. Yes he still buts up best stats by far to any other player. Clearly this year it should be Luka, Joker and Tatum, IMO. Shai and ANT for MVP. Top 5.

First game where the best player was neither Luka or Kai.
PJ was the man of the game and if he adds better shooting to his S tier defence he will become the 3th star that Mavs desperately need.
in the summer we need to trade for d hunter. trade thj josh green and 2 seconds. hunter has been great… great 1 on 1 Defender, long , athletic (pause) and a great catch and shooter+ Yesterday he showed us he can dribble a bit too. if we find a way to get him and caruso we could be in real title contention

@Marcel – MVP is about making your team and yourself better – NOT about making yourself BETTER – you all have to be HONEST with yourselves period. I have watched several games of the other MVP candidates and they play as a team and STILL score just as many points, assists, defense etc. as Luka. These guys actually do it all and still manage to score a lot of points. They are not going to allow Luka to game the system with Stats. If any of those guys played like Luka the NBA would be done and if they give Luka the MVP based on Stats- this would send the wrong message to the Players. Luka could truly win MVP by being smart and doing what it takes – play team ball, get your supporting teammates involved early, score, defense, WINS. He has to allow the game to come to him, have trust in his teammates like the other MVP Candidates do. Also stop 🛑 looking for the refs to bail him out when taking bad shots period.
Kai in a sense is trying to teach him Bro you can still get your numbers without forcing the issue, Luka is a great player and once he learns the secret he will be able to receive the MVP Award for sure.
I have a hard time committing myself emotionally and having faith in this team. Every conversation always comes back to "when they are hitting their shots." The only constants are that few players outside of Luka and Kyrie can actually hit shots consistently. The other constants are that Lively/Gafford will anchor the defense as long as no other Maverick plays at the center-spot and that PJ is a steady defensive beast. The other constants are that THJ will continue to get significant court time despite a shooting efficiency in the bottom 25th percentile for 95% of the games in which he plays, and that he will always be a defensive liability. I'm hoping the PJ/Exum/DJJ/Green combination can find a groove as we enter the playoffs. Only then will we be a deep threat.
I have to say. Right now I am just happy. I hope we reach the 2nd round, everything else is just Icing on the Cake. I never thought this was a championship Season. I am just happy how good our team already looks. And we have still more room to grow. Internally (Lively/O-Max and overall chemistry with a complete offseason) and externally (we have some trade assets and still room under the 2nd Tax line/Hard Cap line). Either way, the team shouldnt rush Green or Lively. If they miss the rest of the reg Season and only play very small roles in the 1st round to get into shape again, I am fine with that.
As crazy as it sounds… but I am somewhat already planning for next season. My dream szenario… Chicago (finally) and the Hawks break it all down and we can get Caruso and Bogdanovic. Green + 2025 1st for Caruso, THJ + Hardy + 2 2nd for Bogdanovic. Money wise we would still have the full MLE to bring back DJJ. Even if 12.5 Mio might be a bit much for him. Lets say 9 Mio per year and we save the rest as wiggle room for later.
Starter: Luka/Kyrie/Caruso/Washington/Gafford
Bench: Exum/Bogdanovic/DJJ/O-Max/Maxi/Lively
For me, thats a championship roster. And yes, Caeruso is a bit small. But dont forget, that Luka defends SF/PF, not guards. Means Caruso is our PoA 3&D Guard defender, Kyrie defends the off Guard, Washington is our PoA Wing defender, Luka our off Ball Wing defender and Gafford is our Rim Protector. With a lot of good defenders (Exum/DJJ/O-Max/Maxi/Lively are all + defender) and a true 6th Man (Bogdanovic) coming off the Bench, this should be a true contending team that can beat anybody, even the Nuggets.

Luka won't ever win a MVP until he comes into the season locked in and dominates from start to finish. Mavs will need to finish as a top seed while Luka is dominating on offense and taking defense seriously. He's looked really bad on defense most of the nationally televised games with the exception of the Christmas game.
Luka is collecting individual "player of the month" awards. He is better then Jokić every month, but at the end of the season individual MVP award Jokić will win because of better team record (seed).

It's really simple in any team sport out there. Teamwork makes the dream work. Nobody won alone, MJ had that Steve Kerr 3PT shot, Scottie and Kukoc as the best 6th man in the league, LeBron had Kyrie and Wade etc. You can see where i am going with this.
Luka seems tired. If we win the GSW game, maybe give him the day off vs Houston.
Lively situation is not good so Powell needs to ante up with Gafford. Almost more important, Timmy and PJ getting consistently hot is crucial.
Not a fan when we look for our star players to be loyal to us like Luka and Kyrie but we can’t be loyal to our players. Dwight Powel, Maxi Kleber and Tim Hardaway Jnr have been good to us, we need to be good to them
