First time I see a video that appreciate Sochan defense efforts, thanks
Kawhi is a two time dpoy brother but good video
Kawhi has two DPOY'S
Except Wemby is the defensive stopper for the Spurs. Sochan's defense as of right now doesn't impact the Spurs. Stats alone can back this up. Without Wemby on the floor Spurs has one of the worst defense in the league, if Sochan's defense is really that good then it shouldn't be that case. Also to add, the Spurs defensive anchor on Duncan era was Bruce Bowen, not Manu or Tony Parker. Very casual take man.
stop it sochan dont have elite defense. just trade him and picks for m. bridges
Bro just stop 1 minute into the video, u really think sochan can win a ring without wemby?? u crazy bro … bro they are the worst defense with him last year and with him this year too wtf u talk about bro …
I'm not buying it. The Spurs defence shoudn't be so terrible. They have literally the best defensive player in the league, the best coach ever, and Devin Vassel as a starter, who was supposed to be a defensive specialist when he came into the league. If Sochan is a defensive prodigy, they should be at least passable. know it is weird to blame Sochan, and it isn't his fault, but there's something not adding up in San Antonio.
As a Spurs fan, we were excited for the team prior to Wemby coming. In fact, Spurs fans would have been happy with getting Amen Thompson last year in the draft if we didn't get 1st pick. This team is going to be undervalued and underappreciated the same way every team Lebron has ever been in. The difference is that no one will break up this squad and they will grow together. The NBA is in trouble. Its just a matter of time
People who don't watch the Spurs dont realize that Jeremy has maybe the toughest job on the team outside of Wemby. Wemby gets to stay in the middle and block shots. Sochan guards the best opposing player every possession. Often he switches from one player to another so he can start a possession guarding KD, then switch to Booker, then switch to Beal, and stay with every single one of them. He is one of the true can guard every position defenders in the NBA. And he's 6 months older than Wemby. He's never going to be worse than he is right this second. Sochan is coming to get everyone
Just imagine for a second, Spurs get Cooper Flagg to add to these two on defense. How do you score on Wemby/Cooper/Sochan? You literally can't
Sochan gets hate for his defense, but Pop wouldn't have put Sochan on the other team's best players if he was bad. Later in the season there was more standing around, but then we find that Sochan has been experiencing ankle/foot pain and that explains most of his mobility loss. Spurs have the best training and athletic center in the NBA and likely we will see a healthy Sochan for next season.
I saw they as a power duo since day one. Sochan´s game will be like a fusion between Rodman and D´rose, in the future i can easily see he as one of the great 5 in spurs…along wemby, this draft add, some great trade and devin. Go Spurs Go!
They are currently last in the Western conference, and now you're talking not just about championships but domination. Wtf are you on? So if they become no. 1 in the league at some point, they now dominate the whole solar system?
I've watched well over half of the spurs games this season. Sochan has holes, just absolutely massive leaks, particularly offensively. There are times where I want Pop to pull him over to the sideline and pick stick'um on his hands, a la The Replacements. But he's also regularly tasked with defending the opposing teams best offensive weapons. He sometimes makes mistakes on defense. He's particularly weak on transition D, but in half court he's been better than solid. A lot of that is going to change as he gets older. You can see the progress from last year to this year.
I don't know if I would argue he's going to be the key to unlocking a championship, but I would absolutely agree that he has the potential to develop in to a top tier defender who flirts with all defense nods. The problem is going to be whether or not, in a 5 out offensively driven era of the NBA, his defense is going to be enough to overcome his lack of offense. One of the things that has happened in the last 20 years as the game evolved, no even average team has truly dead weight offensively on the floor any more. Top tier defenders still have to be able to shoot to provide the space necessary for your best offensive weapons to operate, and sochan's jumper is sketchy at best. You regularly see Sochan's defender sag into the paint to effectively double wemby when sochan has the ball on the 3 point line, frequently daring him to shoot. That is going to have to change.
Definitely more Draymond then Rodman vibes, gonna be x factor for spurs
lebron can guard all five positions :^)
you mean Jeremy Sohass ?
I want us to bring in a defensive big like alex sarr imagine the team with:
PG: Trae Young (not that good offense but will run offense perfectly)
SG: Devin Vasell (Decent defense but is young and improving offense really well)
SF: Jeremy Sochan (Promising Defense, getting better on offense, shot will come soon) – this is why we had the sochan experiment so he could move to a role where he can do everything.
PF – Alex Sarr (Big Man, good defense, will take brunt of force away from wemby preventing injury, good offense)
C – Wemby (Alien – nothing else to say)
Bench: Keldon Johnson ( Brings energy, can score well, big body), Tre Jones (perfect backup pointguard, good defense, can assist well) + other promising rotation players.
Enjoyed the video. Posting to say that the Spurs hid Parker on the worst offensive perimeter player for his enitre career. Manu was a gambler on defense, he won more than he lost but he was often out of place. Both were willing to take a charge and both would gamble for steals.
In the Duncan era Robinson, Duncan, Bowen, Green, Leonard and their rotation of centers and wings really anchored the defense.
i hate all these new bandwagon spurs fans.
The biggest problem is there are to many people commenting that do not know basketball. Yes Sochon is going to be imperative to the success of this team. He is 20 yrs old just like Wemby. This microwave mentally generation. Thinks he should come in knowing everything. Years 3-4 for him and 2-3 for Wemby will be very different than what you see now. Great segment. Thanks for pointing out what these unqualified people can't see coming.
sign jaime jaquez jr, bol bol, tre young and draft aj dbyantsa because i won a 3 peat with them on 2k
Sohan and Vassel are key players as much as Wemby is.
Sochan ainda será jogador 3D
And Zaccharie Risacher is the missing piece of an elite defensive team.
sorry swish but ur take is wrong here. im hardcore spurs, i watch a lot of them too and sochan being elite defender is a MYTH only started with his hair colour/rodman association (and u actually fell for it, even in this vid). he s an average defender who gives some good effort. he s only 20 so yes, room to improve ofc
i agree.. i think pop's experiment on sochan move at pg is to develop his passing skills, and vassel taking more shot to improve his confidence, and the last few games the pick & roll of wemby and vassel has improved… the other fans don't get it.. and wemby improved his 3pts also, it takes time to build chemistry…
Sochan at the PG was an experiment, the kid just barely know how to dribble and the fans expected him to be Chris Paul 😂
