I hope he proves me wrong but I don’t see him translating to a starting NBA player. He’s gonna get pushed off the blocks and he can’t shoot.

I can see a team draft him with specific matchups in mind. the Raptors are not good enough to use their draft picks on a player for certain matchups.

He’s a good basketball player with skills that translate, I think it needs to be a good team for him to really thrive though. As a starter I don’t see it he’s just too slow
Denver, NY and NOLA are the best spots imo, Edey shouldn’t be doing much more on the floor than what he’s great at, those teams could let him excel the best.

What response were people expecting Kelly to give?

He’s a younger and more mobile Boban. He can play a few minutes off the bench and provide instant offense against the right lineups. He only fits very specific teams.

I think he has another gear defensively. In college, he lets everyone shoot because Purdue can’t afford him to get in foul trouble. He’ll be more physical around the rim once he’s a role player.

The absolute best case scenario, Edey carves out a career as a backup/situational big, as a starter he’ll get absolutely abused.

If we can get Edey with the Indiana pick or Detroit pick, I say we go get him.
We will have to go through guys like Embid and Giannis in future playoff battles and we get a big body to throw at them. Whether he is slow or not, plant him under the rim and he will make it tougher to score down low.
We can go super big on teams like Celtics, Knicks, Cavs, Pacers, and the Heat. Scottie at the 4 and a 3rd year Edey is size no matter how we add it up
I feel Scottie can balance the shortfalls Edey has and now we get a big guy to throw our weight around.
If Edey can help with our rebounding using his big body to block out like Steve Adams, Edey has a place on our team.
Let him learn under Poetl and we eventually ship out Poetl to a contending team that needs a veteran center.
Also he is Canadian and it seems that’s a push we as an organization are interested in.
Bring home our Canadians and let’s figure out how to make it work. If RJ is an example of how a Canadian baller will play for Toronto, I like Edey for the same opportunity.
Edey got an attitude and playing for Canada’s only NBA team should elevate that.

20-25 min/gm situational big. His defence isn’t stand out at all. But his rebounding and offense look nba level.
I am extremely biased towards bigs that have physical presence and rebounding.

Edey has legit fire inside of him. The confidence. The will to win. Playing big in big games. Those intangibles can’t be coached. He’s gonna succeed at fIBA with Team Canada and he’s gonna succeed in the NBA.
