The Toronto Raptors center Jontay Porter is under investigation by the NBA for betting irregularities. Adam Silver recently addressed this investigation and made a serious threat of banishment if the findings come out true. Ben I love your vids, but a perma ban is a sure fire way to ensure that others don’t do anything like this again. Sports betting is growing exponentially. And to show players, coaches, and teams alike that if you try betting on yourself thus taking away the integrity of the game you will be punished severely
If he is found guilty, his career is over regardless of whether the league banishs him.
Adam Silver is the asshole that got the NBA in bed with the bookies.
If the bookies had made money on Porter’s prop bet instead of losing there would have been no complaints.
I wonder if Silver would be so threatening if it was a true superstar tanking the prop bets.

Let's see if they can prove anything. Are all the big money winners relatives or friends of Jontay's? Any financial transactions? Phone-text records? Did the Raps team doctors say Jontay was faking his injuries-illness? The NBA refs were a mess and it was more than just Tim Donaghy but the NBA (David Stern) covered it up. The refs can help or hinder the betting lines and the Vegas money bag that the NBA has its collective hands in. Adam Silver is rolling hard for his gambling masters just like a snake in the grass. Adam Silver's cardinal sin is the business of gambling. NBA players-coaches-staff can speak out on various societal issues but can't speak out against the NBA refs in appropriate fashion during pressers without the risk of being fined?
They would not kick him out gor other addictions, they would send him to rehab etc. Why are they treating this addiction any different.

Let's not even mention the potential that nba refs have been feeding "star" players freethrows at a collusion rate. Gambling and Sports betting with the inevitable corruption is an age old issue (The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County – Mark Twain). If Silver wants to address it make a rule for each and every player. It is easy to take Porter off the court but would be a whole other issue if it was a star player being "accused". Silver needs to keep his mouth shut until the investigation concludes. Guilty until proven innocent should be the standard but when the league office comments before the investigation has concluded it seems that they'd rather work off rumors than facts. Such is the world today.
100% if he's found guilty he should be banned from the league. This is way worse than PEDs. You can't be caught ruining the integrity of the league and get to continue to play. That's a scary precedence to set.
Pete Rose was banned for betting on HIMSELF. Porter is done. Having said that, the NBA made their bed when they started promoting gambling before, during and after games.

Banishment from the league is inevitable anyways whether it's from the league itself or just from no coach or organization ever trusting him again. There is a big difference on betting the overs on yourself vs betting the unders and underperforming and claiming injury to pull your self out early…I would never trust starting this guy or playing him in the rotation no matter how good he becomes.
