I have not heard ANYONE make this point, and I think with ALL the other cumulative arguments made in Luka’s favor, this one SHOULD be the one that seals the deal for Luka winning the MVP!
In December Embiid was the run away #1 for MVP in the straw poll, and why? Embiid was scoring 35ppg + 9-10 rebounds with a projected 50 win season. Now in April why isn’t Luka the run away #1 MVP candidate with 34ppg + 9-10 assists and a 50 win season?

And I’ll clarify, I’m not saying this is the absolute best argument to build the whole case for Luka. But Nick’s point should ABSOLUTELY be the final point putting the exclamation mark on any case being made.

Tbh I think getting to 50 wins with our insane injury history is the real best argument, but talking heads aren’t exactly pushing that.
The team was fighting with the freaking Grizzlies for most injured team until the trade deadline, and they’re borderline historic with how many starters they’ve had to run.
Are Wright & Legler the only media guys that actually watched more than 5 Mavs games this season?
He also has 9 rebounds. So basically the assists are on top of what embiid achieved
I’m not one to agree with Nick Wright often but that’s a very good point.
I love Luka, but Nick is making a flawed argument here. Before Embiid got hurt, he wasn’t just leading the league in scoring, he was also leading the league in PER at one point and was putting up great advanced numbers (top-5 to top-3 IIRC). Luka is putting up great individual stats, but his advanced numbers are only above average at best. He isn’t playing as efficiently as Jokic or Embiid. Jokic right now is simply head-and-shoulders above everyone else in terms of advanced stats. Even though I badly want Luka to win MVP, Jokic objectively has a slightly better case this year.
Wildes was definitely instigating in this one, lol. Probably had to be a contrarian for the sake of the segment.
