  1. Luka is my pick for MVP

I hope they make it to the Finals

The way this MVP race is being talked about online vs. how the actual race is going is maybe the biggest divide I’ve ever seen lol

If you asked 100 fans probably 60-65 would vote for Luka

If you ask the actual 100 voters I think 85-90 will end up voting for Jokic and it won’t even go down as a close race historically(MVP tracker posted here already has like a 9-1 advantage for Jokic in the first 10 votes and current MVP odds indicate a completely lopsided race)

Not sure exactly what makes fans value Luka more while voters value Jokic more but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this before(closest parallel to this race is definitely Giannis vs. Harden in 2019 but many fans never really liked Harden much)

This is going to be like Kobe in 2006 where his fans insist that he should have been MVP but when you pull up the actual voting results he didn’t even come all that close to winning(Kobe was actually as low as 4th, Luka will probably be 2nd but a fairly distant 2nd)

And people thought Kyrie would inevitably be a problem

You would think the people of r/nba were deciding the MVP based on the ever-increasing flow of propaganda we’ve been getting for the past few weeks.

I’m a Luka fan from Slovenia, watched almost all his games probably from when he was like 17 and got to say Jokic deserves it this year. No shame in admitting that. Luka had a historic season, one of the best in history of the league. Just not better than Jokic’s.

    >He’s held the team up when I wasn’t able to be in the lineup

Is it just me, or is this just completely self centered? Like this *is* Luka’s team, you joined Luka’s team. If Luka said that about Kyrie, I don’t think it’d be all that strange because you don’t really expect the number 2 guy to carry the team when the star is out with an injury. Idk to me, it just seems like Kyrie is acting like it’s 1a and 1b when it really ain’t that. Luka is a tier above Kyrie

You promote it without discrediting and disrespecting other players saying “the real mvp” instead of only “mvp” but yeah good for you guys, classy move..

  8. robot2468

Kyrie has played 1 more game this season than Jamal Murray…

  9. fuccabicc

Starting to avoid all topics with the word MVP in it. Is there anything else to the NBA but MVP talks? This subreddit has become insufferable

  10. ibonoyittiking1

I want luka to win but I know jokic will win.

  11. Street-Common-4023

As long as Luka finishes second he will get his mvp next year . The media literally won’t give Jokic 4 I think

  12. they are going to need a lot more than that to beat out the obviously way better player in joker

  13. TheZoloftMaster

Years from now It should list peoples career accolades on Wikipedia as like ‘finished 2nd to Jokic in MVP voting’ and that should be a pretty big fuckin deal on it’s own lol.

  14. hashrosinkitten

I feel like part of the mvp is doing the most with the least

And Luka has definitely had less in Dallas while performing as well or even better some could argue

  15. Somehow when Jokic won his MVP’s 47 & 48 wins were enough, for Doncic even 52 won’t be. But it is what it is.

  16. Aether42

Jokic dealt with teammates missing time as well 🤷 thank Dallas GM and team for making that trade

  17. WrongVater

It will be like last Year. Jokic wins MVP but chokes in the playoffs while Luka wins it all.

  18. FadedTony10

I’m good if Jokic wins it but ngl I do feel some type of way about it being “not even close”. Feels like it should be a close race with Jokic winning at the end but with how it currently is, it’s like this insane season that Luka had isn’t enough to make the race interesting. Hats off to Joker though, dude is unreal.

  19. CounterTop196

lol this sub is not ready for when the mavs win the chip this year

  20. Nuclearsunburn

Quiet Kyrie, or they’ll drop Luka to 4th on the ladder

  21. ExtremeGamingFetish

This sub really is working hard to get the MVP discussion just as toxic as it was last year. Jokic is the mvp. Deal with it.

  22. blue_seminole_95

I think Luka would have won MVP this year if it wasn’t for last year’s debacle.

I think these MVP conversation get so narrative driven that Jokic was going to win it this year.
