Should the Lakers Lose to Avoid Playing Denver in the First Round? | THE ODD COUPLE

THE ODD COUPLE – Chris Broussard & Rob Parker agree that it’s not worth the Lakers going out there and intentionally losing to the Pelicans to avoid the Denver Nuggets.

  1. Can’t risk an elimination game against the Warriors or Kings…. That was the whole point of getting the 8th seed

  2. I think it’s actually better for the Lakers to face the Nuggets in the first round they ran out of gas playing them last year In the conference finals, if the Lakers could somehow beat the Nuggets I think they win the championship

  3. See the media plants these seeds and then the sheep follow, the Lakers are not scared of Denver, all the games are close, they just don’t finish at the end

  4. Lakers aren't good enough to play those games, the Kings and Warriors could both easily beat them in the next game and then they are out of the playoffs altogether. They just ned to try and win every game they can, they have a small chance against the Nuggets if they get hot.

  5. This would never be a discussion back then. Why? Because if it was Magic, Bird, MJ or even Kobe, they couldn't wait to face the very same team who beat 'em prior to that season, esp with their coach talking smack calling his team their daddy!

  6. LeStatPad needs to get to the playoffs to pad his legacy some more. So yes they should win

  7. People insinuating the Lakers are gonna automatically beat the Pelicans when they went tooth and nail with the grizzlies the other day

  8. Love the idea of the lakers losing on purpose to NO, then risk having to beat GS or SAC, just to lose to OKC in the first round anyway because they wouldn’t have to theoretically face Denver in round one as opposed to three 😂 sports media as a whole is cooked

  9. Just a theory. “Back spasms” means they are low key trying to lose. Let OKC wear Denver down a bit, maybe even win. Maybe they’re playing chess over checkers.

  10. Just pay attention who says yes and who says no… mainly those who have never touched a basketball will say to avoid Denver.

  11. Rob is one of the real ones. I’m a Nuggets fan but let the chips fall where they may. Avoiding matchups is nonsense

  12. Would Jordan’s Wizards lose on purpose to avoid a team? I won’t even ask about his Bulls. The answer is NO to both. But this wannabe would contemplate this coward move. This choker has dragged my Lakers franchise to embarrassing lows. Just retire already. Just leave. There’s NOTHING you can do to catch Kobe. Let alone his airness. Give it up bro just like your hairline did long ago. You’re just embarrassing yourself at this point.

  13. If you lose on purpose then I hope you lose by 50 against Golden St/SAC. The notion of losing a game on purpose to then put yourself in a one game free-for-all against potentially Steph Curry is amongst the dumbest things i ever heard. You gotta play Denver sooner or later and it's probably more beneficial to the Lakers that they play in the first round as opposed to the WCF because you get more rest days in between the first round series'. They'll have an extra day of rest a few times when they travel.

  14. As a Lakers fan, I don't like that idea of losing on purpose to avoid any team. They'll have to play Denver eventually and it doesn't matter if it is going to be in the first round or the finals, if they are prepared and ready, they shouldn't fear any team.
