Sounds like he is laying the groundwork to go somewhere else, like Philly, where there is a real chance to win next year. Either that or he is pushing them to make some trades before he resigns.

Of course he wants to win, but he also said he wants to be here and AK said the same stuff about Demar that he did with Vuc before he resigned him.
I love DeMar, but I don’t want him back. I’m sure AKME is going to do their best to run it back with this core. They either have delusions about how good this team can be, or they don’t care.
It’s been clear for awhile that him and the FO are nowhere near close on numbers. If they were an extension would be signed already. There’s no advantage for either party to wait for the offseason to get max value or anything. On top of that DeMar has no reason to stay. He isn’t from the city and doesn’t live there full time.
If PG13 leaves the Clippers for Philly like the rumors suggest there’s no way Balmer doesn’t offer DeMar the world just to fill up his new stadium with locals. The Clippers stadium is not far from Compton so having a local legend would be huge for them.
AKME likely has every reason to want him back, but they’ll have issues even fielding a team with the money they have if they try to bring everyone back. So letting him and Drummond walk and drafting a center would allow them to pay a lot of role players to fill up the bench.
I have a feeling he will be back. AKME isn’t going to go to a full rebuild because they will lose their job. They are going to scrape as many wins as they can.
This is just a negotiation ploy.
DDR: “I want to come back but only if y’all pay me and make some moves.”
AKME: “How about we make a few minor moves, bank on LaVine and Lonzo coming back, sell the potential of our 1st rd pick…and also give you an extra year + $5M per year more than anyone else is offering you?”
DDR: “HEYYYYY…DID I MENTION I LOVE CHICAGO?”
