I’m locked on
what a game!
You could see in the early game how much the nerves were getting to the young guys. Inexperience showed, but as it went on and the adrenaline wore off the guys collected themselves and took care of business. That’s as bad as we could play and still won. Happy to see the worst case scenario was still a W
Giddey better realize he has last chance or start heyward
Us being 10 deep is great . I remember hearing on the tnt broadcast they made a comment on how deep our bench are. Also it helps in the long haul with this playoffs . It will gives a break when needed for our main guys . I loved our team. Aaron Wiggins need more minutes
Playing hayward over Wiggins is like playing an 72 overall over an 80
Dub is really the emotional barometer of this team.
When we needed a lift, he was firing us up.
Shai – full on MVP mode in the final minutes.
Chet was a beast on defense.
As how was Cason defending the final possession – love that guy!
Thunder Up
No Shai on the wall= no consistency
Thanks for always cheering us up
Pels didn’t capitalize. We should have stole one 🤦🤦
That was great to steal that one considering the % of failed shots. It was crazy the amount we missed. Pels, although fought hard, weren't that impressive. Will they tire? Nerve-racking to watch from the other side of the world. Thunder Up! Agree, Thunder will improve during this series.
Giddey didn’t shoot great. But they need to have him on the floor more.
The team moves forward when he is out there.
For most of our guys it’s their first play off game, Coach D’s first play off game coaching. It’s an ugly win but it’s a win, take it take the learnings and the growth we will fart from it and move on to game 2.
I’m hoping that the clippers take care of the Mavs in 7 and we are well rested to take the clippers on in the second round.
"Thunder steal one…" I disagree. Thunder won a game they should have dominated.
Jaylin Williams needs more min for chet to rest he is a strong guy. He held his ground against Valaciunas very well.
Pels taking this one easily
We lost composure and got pushed around by their bigs. I doubt that will happen tomorrow but we lose if it is at NO, so I’m not expecting to win a sweep. Actually, even though Shai scored he mad a lot of bad decisions and probably needs to not play so much individually, and to ease up on the threes.
I’m sure Mark will set up screens next game.
Time to make GH an elite bench cheerer. Silly giving him minutes over Wiggins. But first as a heavy favorite which put a lot of pressure on them.
Rylan Styles, the semi-quiet (it' a metaphor, stay with me here) voice in the wilderness, speaking reason to the masses known as Thunder Nation. BTW, the turtle neck is rockin', I must say, you look mavalous (sp intentional, Billy Crystal reference). Next pod wardrobe suggestion, Playoff T-shirt, gotta see it buddy.
Gotta pull a Joel on you just a bit. You didn't finish my take. Stopped at the point where I pointed out your concern the guys might be too amped, and they were, OMG! That crowd tonight, I threw down the gauntlet that they be as good, as loud, as crowds of old and they not only did that, they were even louder!! Still need to learn you get loud when the OTHER team is shooting FT's, BUT, they have decades, thanks to the December vote, to perfect it.
After giving you credit for having concerns the kids might be too amped, and they were, I added that any win in the playoffs is big, but getting a win when you don't play your best is huge. (this is a no cherry picking RK zone, 😁)
I have just two disappointments about this game. In no particular order, Hayward and rebounding.
I'm done with Hayward, done. He's a vet, he has absolutely no excuse for taking zero shots last night, none. Give him a bag of popcorn and move on. Period, finito, end of story. Done. Somebody from the national media is going to ask Mark about Hayward and I will be very interested in hearing his answer.
Rebounding!!! I was semi-concerned entering the playoffs, hoping that the Thunder didn't emphasize rebounding during the season to reduce injury risk, but now I am in full blown panic mode. Maybe it isn't time for Mark to say sic'em on the boards quite yet, but starting next round, rebounding will kill this run.
That's it on concerns, for now.
Gonna push back on the rotation now.
This is the youngest team to ever win the regular season conference championship. Daigneault is going where no coach has gone before (Star Trek reference), this is Captain Kirk investigating a distress call from Regular One with a virgin crew in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" asking Spock how much he can count on a bunch of kids on their first training cruise. And Spock's logical answer being, "As with all living things, each according to his gifts."
Who among this virgin crew would rise, who would waver, who would maintain and deliver when the chips are down? You cannot get those answers while a player is riding the pines as we used to say. And while Kirk had no choice, I applaud Daigneault for having the courage to seek, at least as much as one can in one game, those answers. Not acquiescing to the norm and playing just 8 guys. And hang on Thunder fans, I don't think he's done yet. I know your not big on Lindy Waters, but he did come up huge in that G League finals, especially the second game with the Blue only one game from elimination. Just Saying. Mark rolled the dice last night and got some answers, but there are still questions.
The playoffs are a season of its own. This was not the Thunder we watched in the regular season, but I have faith they will improve, just like they did this season. The beauty of this matchup is that the Thunder are facing a talented team that is just as green in the playoffs as they are. Personally, I think the Thunder win it in 6, and that isn't a knock on our kids as much as it is a compliment to the Pels. I think it's a good thing the Pels won't roll over and die because more games gets Daigneault more answers and make no mistake about it, the next round opponent will make this one look like a cakewalk.
Again, love Locked on Thunder, your awesome! THUNDER UP!!
There’s ugly wins in the playoffs . My only complaint was Josh folded under pressure . Hopefully he plays better in the next game !
Few things to keep in mind.
1. This is the first time Okc is truly expected to win (while having 0 experience)
2. They’re all learning on the fly it may get ugly .
3 nobody in the west is a pushover.
4. After this round no one will expect okc to win again. We’ll play a lot better as the underdogs again
Just in concerns to the video thumbnail and title…..you can’t steal a game if you’re the home team. Those are typically the games you’re looked at as winning. A little click baity
Sorry Hayward but I think that's the last one for me personally. Those Hayward minutes feel like such a loss of opportunity to put someone else in that can actually do stuff. GIVE ME MORE JWILL, give me more wiggs and kenny, but dear god please no more Hayward.
Sincerely,
Someone who believed
They had 9 minutes of little to nothing of Hayward but that's to be expected and completely Mark's fault. I don't think he did anything since arriving to deserve those minutes.
How bout some love for J-Will? He was huge!
Pelicans were 1 for 15 on corner 3s. Herb, Trey, and Naji are all 40% or better on open corner 3s so the the Thunder got very lucky. Long strong Pelican defenders will continue to clamp the Thunder especially with playoff whistles
lol this podcast was more confident before the game … this is going 7
Pelicans is trying play correctly, not only yesterday, Bootes both Lakers, Sacramento, they were moving ball 1-5, streaching, switching, would say they played better than Lakers unless shooting skills night.
Wheres Byombo reciproch sepulchers?
Huge win Thunder, not suprised so suffered, resilient, painfull, emotional.
So noise arena, diferent experience, Better doppler will help Alexander wings, Quemistry will increase.
Nick Gallo Penzias Arnold helps hear unsong, never heard or ever viewd Cosmos fótons, cenários ,lack of Mu-scala also brings Qbits mensages.
Roma secunda Pantheon Legio Musica
Simphony 5, Preludium first movement Vaughan Willians
Seemed like 20 or 25 times we didn't even get a shot off by throwing it away on crazy passes or getting picked. Never seen us so tight and nervous. Glad we somehow won and got to do the dawg barks after the game.
The rotation should be cut down soon and Hayward and Kenrich might be the odd men out and Giddey also on hot seat
as it relates to giddey, i think Jdub/Shai just had bigger usage…when that happens then Giddey won't be needed as a lead usage guard. 1-6 is not good but i didn't mind his shots.
Okay, I took your advice and watched the game again. Let's cut Shai some slack on 2 late TO's. First one, Dort moved after the ball left Shai's hand. Second one, Chet was supposed to attack the rim. Just a miscommunication.
Shai did get lose with his handle when he got stripped. He'll see it on tape.
More concerned with his shooting slump from 3. I think he's gone 3 games without a make.
What I want to look at was Daigneault's challenge.
21 seconds remaining on the shot clock, Chet vs Nance, I'm betting on Chet.
BUT
I'm calling out the NBA!! Are you kidding me, this is twice!!!
Who remembers the 2011 WCF? Suddenly, after an entire season and 2, TWO!, rounds of the playoffs, Durant's swim move is no longer draws a shooting foul call?
Now, when a coach challenges a call, the call is changed, thus "a successful challenge", just because the ball is awarded to the other team, the coach loses the challenge, the timeout, and the right to a second challenge!?! Give me a break!!
We saw the EXACT scenario in Utah, the ref deemed the ball went to Utah, the call was successful, so Daigneault kept his timeout and 2nd challenge option.
The ref made the same call last night!! And then, ring ring, "oh Mr Referee, this is the NBA, now we want you to rule it this way".
WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!?!
I get it, it's their league, but a precedence was set, months ago, if it was wrong, address it then, not when a playoff game may hang in the balance. Either that, or address it after the season.
There is NO WAY Daigneault challenges that call had he known some diphead was going to change the rules midstream.
Think about it. He was going to win the challenge, no matter who was awarded possession, based on the Utah game precedence. Worst case scenario, he loses possession, which wasn't guaranteed, see who got the ball on the Dub vs JV jump, but gets some free time for his team down by 2.
I wouldn't have challenged, but it was close enough in the time he had to make the decision, with a chance to have possession, giving Giddey a shot at an inbound play, based on what he perceived as a worst-case, I'm not going to throw him under the bus.
The NBA? Yeah, you sleezy @#%&'s!! Lol
Plz plz plz stop playing Hayward. I like getting our stars rest but we don’t need to go 11 deep in the playoffs
Gordon Hayward looked absolutely LOST on the floor last night. He's GONE!
Anyone who watches this Thunder team knows that no matter what the scoreboard says, we lost Game 1 and we need to bounce back, which (thankfully) we do quite well. Val getting 9 offensive rebounds and JWill being the only guy to sit down and actually box him out is criminal. Turning the ball over 5 second into the shot clock. We made a couple amazing plays in the last minute, but winning a game and a series is a lot easier when you show up all 4 quarters. Adjustments need to be made.
It was their best chance. OKC will be much more loose going forward. That game had everything the Thunder needed. I expect a blowout in game 2. The defense was elite, and it was our lowest scoring output with a win. That means a lot. My sister, niece, and I will be in New Orleans for game 4 on Monday. GO THUNDER!!!
You gotta give Jaylin Williams a huge shout out !!! Played a monster game !!!
