So I know a lot of people are aware of Cooper flag in this next year’s draft. But there are two players, both of which are going to spend the year at Rutgers University, worth getting to know as potential top prospects.

Ace Bailey has a bit more coverage but not many people outside the draft world. Have talked much about Dylan Harper yet and I think he’s definitely a prospect worth getting excited for.

A consensus top five player in this class right now. Harper is a smooth, skilled jumbo combo guard feels like a weird intersection between Manu ginobili and cade Cunningham.

He’s an absolute massive playmaker who’s a legit 6’6 with a 6’10 wingspan. He’s a smooth ball handler and a smart passer. He has a strong and powerful frame and most importantly he knows when to use his physicality to simply overwhelm other prospects, and when to be much more methodical and herky-jerky, hence the Manu comparisons, and use intelligence and a pretty advanced understanding of the floor on offense to get where he wants to go whenever he wants to.

At the high school level He hasn’t really been asked to be a high-level facilitator a ton and typically takes on more of a scoring role, but he shows real flashes of high-level passing .He could be asked to play as a primary facilitator and have the offense run through Ace Bailey, who deserves a post of his own at some point and has monster upside, as he’s a guy who can play with or without the ball pretty easily

Defensively he has a really good motor and pretty solid intelligence on that end. He’s not a freak athlete, but he’s very solid in most regards, particularly for his size as a lead. Playmaker.

His biggest weakness right now is he’s not a super super consistent jump shooter. There’s no reason to believe he can improve in that regard and if he does him being a top three luck would not be surprising and if he struggles with the outside shot this year. Him tumbling towards the end of the top 10 or lottery also wouldn’t be shocking

As far as his fit with the Spurs, he’s a guy who projects is having tremendous two-way potential while being a hard-working, intelligent, team. First jumbo playmaker. I’ve seen people compare him to Cade Cunningham and I can see some of those comparisons. I think if he becomes the player he looks like he could be most certainly could be a Interesting pic for the Spurs.

Obviously it’s early but thought I’d shed a little bit of light on a potential top prospect to keep an eye on next year, whether it’s with our pick or Atlanta’s.

I just hope he isn’t disappointing at Rutgers the way Collier has been at USC. Because if he’s as good as advertised, that’s a guy worth burning some of the war chest assets on.
