@Miami Heat

Big news from Anthony here. Heat faces biggest decision of year — 1) Say yes and pay Butler around $58 million in 3 years when he’s 37 or B). Say no and see if he asks for a trade or indicates if he would be a malcontent if Miami keeps him but refuses to extend him. Seismic impact either way.

Love Jimmy, favorite player on the team. Paying him that much is the fastest way to guarantee he never wins a chip with us. You can’t pay him 58mil per at 37. You just can’t.

    Hell Fucking No!

To be honest I don’t think this is gonna be a problem, he said he wants to retire here. I’m more worried about our cap space since our GM likes paying g-league bench players and 6-men a starter’s salary.

The 3 options in order of what we should do:

    1) He exercises his player option or we extend him without destroying our future

    2) trade him for a haul of players or picks if possible

    3) super max extension

He’ll be 35 next season. He coasts during the regular season (for good reason) but has been hurt in the last 3/4 playoffs. Thinking that he’ll magically stop getting hurt in his late 30s is wishful thinking.

I’ll never blame athletes for trying to maximize their $$$ while they can. Sports is a cutthroat business. If he wants to break the bank, it’s better for our future if it’s not us.

I love Jimmy and rather not pay him this but what is the plan for Bam if you trade Jimmy. I don’t see any reason Bam stays if you do that. He’s entering his prime on what would probably be a play in team. He probably prefers to run it back with Jimmy and another piece, it’s his best chance at competing. There is zero reason for Bam to want to play with the kids next season. You’re risking him becoming disgruntled. Keep both Bam and Jimmy or you rebuild

I love Jimmy but you can’t guarantee him that much money at that age when he can’t be depended on to be consistent and at his best in the regular season and with his injury history. I would love to have him back at less money but he’s going to have to make that sacrifice and be honest with himself if he wants to give the team the best chance to win.

Sorry Jim, I hope he takes a cut cause bro has embraced miami like no other star but man, the team can’t go this route I’d you wanna be competitive.

I’m flabbergasted at how this bum team is flirting with the red when it’s comprised of mostly g league talent

Jimmy either doesn’t sign for the max or he leaves. No way you give him a super max at his age. No other team will either, that’s insanity. He’s already injury prone and has clearly regressed

  8. Im team soft reset, trade Butler away to a contender for whatever you can get with expirings coming back.

Trade away Herro and Duncan for expiring and picks. For example, trade Herro and Duncan for Ben Simmons, Schroder and some picks. Or the Pistons for Fournier’s expiring, Stewart and protected draft picks (bonus points if you can get Ivey from them). Pistons need shooting so badly around Cade, Duncan and Herro would fit perfectly next to him and Ausar and Duren.

Let Rozier-Jaime-Jovic-Bam get all the experience together they can and go into the 2025 offseason with only 85 million on the books (so 50+ million in cap space)

I may be wrong but I think his willingness to take a pay cut depends on the indication from the FO to get him help. I think if they say we are all in on getting a team this summer then he may be more willing not to take such a large paycheck

If the Heat end up trading Jimmy, attach Herro to it. A 3-4 team trade is a possiblity. No way in hell Herro will be traded all by himself with his performance the past 2 years.
