[Wayne Spooney] Bam had absolutely nothing for Luke Kornet. Shot 5/14 (35%) and 2 turnovers for the series against him in 30.5 partial possessions. Luke workin.

If we get this Luke moving forward then KP can take all the time he needs

Luke Literally Kevin McHale 2 Kornet

Yeah it seemed like Bam just wasn’t comfortable shooting over him, and Kornet did an awesome job positioning himself so that Bam didn’t really have other options. He’d be close enough that he could contest, but far enough away that Bam couldn’t blow by him and get to the rim.
It helps that Luke didn’t really need to defend the rim at all. When you’ve got our elite on ball defensive personnel on their role players, nobody needs any help.

Kornet’s basketball IQ is underrated.

KP is tall and probably more mobile/laterally quick, but Luke has really good core strength/balance that helps him a lot on defense.
Bam was able to back down KP pretty much whenever he wanted, but couldn’t move Luke (or Jaylen Brown but that’s off topic)

I came away from this series hating Bam, which is crazy because I’ve been defending him for a while now, but the way I’ve seen him play this series left such a bad taste in my mouth. Literally, that screen push to Horford, the flagrant foul and how he didn’t even seem phased at the fact that he didn’t even contest but gave Tatum a light shove after shooting, his constant antics of looking at the ref whenever he gets a ‘offensive,’ foul called. There were a lot more moments, but those first two events stood the most out to me. Then again, Draymond routinely kicks LeBron in the nuts/hacks him, and yet they are both best friends. So it is what it is lol.

0:25 – Bam reconsiders shooting the 3 when he sees the dreaded Kornet Kontest^^TM coming right at him

Could Kornet be Jokic’s Kryptonite? 🤔🤔

Kornet was awesome, and I gotta say I was really impressed by Bam in this series (outside of the Kornet stuff of course). He’s a hell of a player, top 2-3 defender in the league and can switch onto anyone, while also providing a lot on offense. He sucks to play against but I’d take him on my team any day.

He really has no bag whatsoever. Teams will give him that middy fadeaway every time.
