Correct MJ was way better. It’s cool that ant has good playoff stats but the larger sample size of the regular season doesn’t paint him as anywhere close to a top 5 player

  2. Obvious_Parsley3238

    ant: i’m not the messiah

NBA marketing team: he is the messiah

  3. Simple_Wait_7286

I respect this perspective from Ant.

Is it fair to say his game reminds everyone of MJ’s? Absolutely.

But is it fair to say he is gonna be as good as MJ or have the same career trajectory? Hell no.

Let Ant carve his own legacy.

Love it. Any man who says, “I am the king” is no true king. Jordan said the same thing too, unlike Lebron, who calls himself the goat and king any chance he gets

  5. Much respect to Ant, glad to know this stuff isn’t going to his head, and he knows he ain’t no where near Jordan’s level yet.

  6. Prudent-Bumblebee-22

As much trash as he talks and the fire/skill he plays with, I respect the hell out of the humility of this dude. I’ll be lowkey rooting for him for continued success.

NBA media is the worst. The kid is a stud and is having a great postseason. Why do we need to throw the MJ comparisons into the mix. Just watch and enjoy the games…

  8. Dishavingfun

    Time will tell Ant’s story.

But anything close to a killer competitor who shows up and brings it every game on both offense and defense and is big in the biggest moments will have adoration from the masses.

  9. radikraze

I’m not saying he’s as good or will be as good as Jordan and I think that’s true for most others too. But got damn his play style, mannerisms and even the way he stands around just reminds me of Jordan.

  10. MaldororHollow

Anthony Edwards is literally my favorite person in all of sports right now

  11. WakeUpKos

Ant doesn’t want that. MJ comparisons have always been some sort of a curse for a number of players back then. That hex just sticks.

Filed under: things narcissistic, self-proclaimed “King” LeBron would never say.

I mean, some people think rookie mj was better than current Edwards. That says it all. I think a better comp is 05/06 Wade. Arenas has talked about how guarding Wade in that period was so difficult because he was bigger than the typical nba shooting guard, but also had the absurd first step.

  14. steve1186

Absolutely love this guy. And I’m eating crow, because I thought he was a terrible pick at #1.

The guy is 22 years old and arguably already a top-10 current player. He’s going to be an annual MVP favorite by age 24.

you fool, this only makes me like you more.

  16. agent-bagent

Is it just me, or is the single forearm arm band ant has an underrated aspect of the MJ comparisons?

  17. [ESPN] Anthony Edwards on MJ comparisons: “I want it…”

  18. dynamistatic

    No one:

Stilgar: “He’s so humble! Lisan dawg Gaib!”

  19. Necessary_Payment804

That’s the best answer you can give.

  20. geneticeffects

I mean, it is true: MJ is the GOAT. Edwards is simply athletic AF, and it stands out among his peers.

The question is whether the game in the modern NBA houses the same level of play as the Jordan era.

  21. broadwayallday

This is the polar opposite of “crowning yourself”

  22. milehighrukus

Of course a son would think his father is the greatest of all time.

Look at how much The Lakers love Jokic.

  23. GiantSizeManThing

That’s exactly what MJ would say

  24. AesopSquaresoft

Ant: I want the comparisons to stop. He’s the greatest ever.

Anyone: But can he guard you?

    Ant: HELL NAH

  25. rakdosidos

…exactly what prime MJ said about his place among the greats. Always humble, always deferential, always wanted the people to make their claims, not him

    SO HE IS HIM

  26. Majestic-Pickle5097

That’s legit. Exactly how he should respond

  27. Lmao, NBA is Stilgar. “He so humble, even more reason to believe he is MJs son”

  28. yasmiester

But do you think MJ could guard you though? Lol
