Even if he wins no individual awards and the Spurs only makes the playoffs but not advance beyond the 2nd round he’d be making history – by playing his own game and winning. It is basketball. Not trying to be the first to invent a fission bomb.

Wemby winning DPOY (or MVP) entirely depends on how fast the Spurs can go on building a proper playoff team. Those awards are unlikely to go to a lottery team or even a low-seeded playoff team.
