[Sidery] – The Clippers have made multiple contract offers to Paul George below the max, which he will not accept, per @ShamsCharania on @RunItBackFDTV. Los Angeles wants to keep George, but he appears heading towards unrestricted free agency this summer.

Looks like PG is basically out of LAC. Kawhi is already extended to a near max deal. Harden is also a free agent. With Zu and Mann on team friendly deals, and solid performers in the playoffs, I think Clippers will significantly retool this offseason.

Maybe we’ll get some talent moving east finally.

Imagine having contract problems with your player. Ha.

Philly or Orlando seem like the 2 best options.

It seems teams are starting to be less and less inclined to paying older injury-prone stars max contracts.

It’s probably hard to swallow that they think a guy who’s missed more games than you is worth the max but you’re not. Especially when you’ve played about as well as him in the times you were both available.

  6. MyChristInBrother

I like PG but if he wanted a max he should’ve balled out in the playoffs even if they lost still. Would’ve put the clips in a tough situation

The real question is who on earth is giving Paul George a multi-year Max? Maybe Orlando or Detroit, but who else realistically is a Paul George away and has the capital? Maybe Philly but you really getting an oft-injured star to pair with your oft-injured star? Pretty sure the Clippers tried that, didn’t go swell.

(Note neither Orlando or Detroit are a Paul George away, they just have the money)

Aging all stars don’t deserve a max when they can’t show up in the playoffs.

That doesn’t mean he’s out of LAC, maybe the Clippers will match any other offer but doesn’t want the risk of overpaying him. It’s a risky but good business decision.

I’d like to see more NBA players actually hit free agency. Looks like Donovan Mitchell intends to do the same, no matter who trades for him.

Paul George in Orlando would be so gas. Those young guys would learn so much from him and his veteran presence would elevate them. First option is still Banchero at the end of the day, but they need shooting

George would be a perfect fit on Orlando. Fits our style of play. Improves our shooting and spacing and another guy who can get his own shot. Length. Would be perfect.

He already praised our team like a week ago. Come on down Paul. 😎

PG would be awesome in Philly tbf. But I’d still be surprised if he’s not a Clipper.

He’s welcome back to OKC but not for a max. We gotta pay Dub, Giddey, and Chet when its extension time

  15. Emergency_Gold_2211

What’s the point of paying him when he doesn’t show up in the postseason?

  16. classicslayer

I’ll rather us go after Paul George than klay Thompson.

  17. A full max for PG would be up there for worst contracts in the NBA. But curious what clippers do if he does leave – they could blow it up but do you really want to open a new arena that way

If willing for a 2 year deal with Orlando. I’d consider it. We can def utilize his shooting and defense.

  19. Wait, aren’t they like $100m over the cap or something? So if they don’t resign him and let him walk for nothing they’d still be over right? Not up to date on all their signings and who is expiring this offseason, but it seems like it’d be better to just keep him no?

Otherwise they’ll just have a Kawhi that plays 60% of the season, a washed WB, and Harden having to carry the load (much like in BKN), and some role players (I like Zubac and Powell…not so much anyone else)…seems like a recipe for disaster and I imagine they lose Harden shortly thereafter as well.

Clippers don’t want PG, it’s obvious. This is them trying to get rid of him

  21. Atl-Fan_FTS

Orlando is the best fit with the assets to get him. Don’t really see anywhere else that needs his role willing to pay that contract

  22. Raptors4daysguy

He’ll get the max from one team in the league

He’ll get the max from one team in the league

When you’re injury prone and just shit the bed in a playoff series without your best player and still getting a max. Paul George chose the right time to be a free agent

  25. monkeybiziu

PG needs to decide what’s more important: winning a chip or getting paid. He’s not good enough to be able to do both anymore.

  26. The_Notorious_Donut

My hot take is this man is not a max player rn

  27. NoWayNotThisAgain

The only team I can imagine giving him the max is Orlando on a short contract (like 2 years), and thats only because they’ll be $60 mil under the cap next year.

  28. philokratos1

Pandemic P is not worth the max. And the truth is he hasn’t been worth it since he left the Thunder.

  29. Jhon_doe_smokes

I just feel like if you over like 32yo and your name ain’t lebron James max should be outside the realm your even thinking of. Especially if you shit the bed in the playoffs the previous season.
