[“That’s the narrative you might see on Tv, the idea that we have a super team … it’s two fold. We didn’t have the coach of the year, we didn’t have MVP … they say we’re a super team, but we didn’t get awarded like we are.”](https://twitter.com/RealBobManning/status/1788767404211745044)
Yeah but you are not supposed to shoot %40 from the field each game either Tatum
Bro we just want our franchise player not be shooting like an over the hill Russell Westbrook.
I wouldn’t give a fuck if we lost today had Tatum had a somewhat good game. The superstar is supposed to be the constant with the role players being the ones who fluctuate but it’s the opposite with JT.
Just find some consistency man.
Thank God the players are more rational and level headed than many in this sub. Not worried about our ability to win on the road, let’s go take the next two in Cleveland.
No you aren’t going to win every game by 25 but you also aren’t supposed to get blown out at home by a clearly inferior team. Losing by less than 10 would have been acceptable, losing by 20 plus is unacceptable and he knows it
Mentality is fucking ass too smh
Well your body language looks deflated and defeated half the time it’s hard to tell. You’re not supposed to lose by 24 at home either against a weaker team.
Well not losing by 25 at home should be the bear minimum for a team of this caliber. It’s not the fact that you lost it’s the how you lost.
Well I understand what he’s trying to say but….there was definitely a defeated/deflated look going on and sure you can’t win ‘em all..
…but dropping a 20+ point home loss in game 2, playing like dog shit isn’t really a good comparison.
It’s about how you lost though, dude… this was a saddening effort and performance, and excuses from our #1 option have simply gotten old. I love him but I’m really disappointed in his response tonight (for full context of why I’m so disappointed, go watch his entire presser).
Tatum can be really hard to root for with clueless quotes like this. No one is expecting them to win every game by 25. This is such a cop out response by him and taking zero accountability for a subpar effort. I don’t care how many points they win by. Nor do I expect them to win every game. But stop treating fans like idiots when it was pretty damn obvious you were disengaged. And the fact that their home playoff record is 14-14 the last few years. No excuses.
dwhite and tatum on the bench at the end were just like :/ 🙂
Anybody here expecting a sweep? Doubt it. If that is the case then a loss was expected. Sucks it happened at home. But let’s refocus and get the next game.
I truly do not care that much if the team loses a game where they played hard on both ends, but getting blown out–at home, no less–because you didn’t play hard on defense is not okay, and it’s happened twice now in the playoffs. This team is fully capable and has played absolutely smothering defense when they put effort into it. Every time the offense is struggling, that should be their mentality. That the other team will not score anything easy. But too often it’s not the mentality, and it shows in the effort and embarrassing loss.
Move on and pound the Cavs into the dirt the next three games like you did the Heat.
How do they suck so fucking bad at realizing their flaws and they keep giving this same HORRIBLE answer
Everyone groans when you do this shit because you do it every year, and will lose again because you guys try one quarter every two games, it’s not because you’re too good (which this sub wants to believe is why they keep losing. They are too good to ever try. Ya sure), it’s because they can use it as an excuse because they know they’re not a great team or great players
They’re good with excellent PR-people but horrible PR skills
Tatum, everyone knows you’re going to fail again. Stop acting too fucking good for it all
This totally misses the point. It’s not about never losing, but about taking care of business at home in the playoffs against a team you already cruised to a 25 point beating of the previous game. Just play to your ability on a consistent level and don’t get embarrassed on home court so damn often.
Ant Edwards: “I wanna kill everything in my path.”
Jayson Tatum: “We can’t win every game!”
No one expects you to win every game, but it’s about how you respond to adversity. The Celtics will probably win this series based on talent alone, but what happens when the face a team like the Knicks, the Timberwolves or OKC? These teams have the potential to out-coach and out-hustle the Celtics while also having very good talent.
If you go down in a game, are you just going to continue to jack up three pointers when you are having an awful shooting streak? Or will you find ways to get to the paint, get better open layups, and draw fouls?
Does he ever get mad? Legit question
It wasn’t a fun game, I’m not worried, we shot 23% from three, like, we were missing wide open shots (though, some guys were also just taking some stupid shots, cut down on those). Payton Pritchard was the only guy from the playoffs rotation who shot better than 50% from the field, and even he went 1-4 from three.
Very flukey, it would take a lot more than this for me to be concerned, Celtics in 5 or 6. The worry would be that we might be tired going into the Knicks series if they win in 4 or something, but 1) pacers are feisty, doubt it ends in 4 games, and 2) we will likely have Porzingis back.
You’re a 13.5 pt favorite bro. No ones saying you need to uphold that but getting blown out consistently at home is pathetic. YOU SAID THE SAME SHIT GAME 2 VS MIAMI. YOU GOT BLOWN OUT IN A GAME 7 ECF AGAINST AN INFERIOR TEAM. Ffs will you show some accountability/leadership?
And here you see the lack of a mamba mentality. Tatum is happy with losing. You are supposed to play every game to win not go like losing is fine it happens guys like wtf is that. Yes losing happens but being fine with it is not. Losing is supposed to eat you up inside as an NBA player and fuel you to do better.
# This is precisely why I don’t pony up for these games and just take my talents to the strip club
This is too calm and collected. Need more fire, more passion. Where is KG’s of this world.
Does he just expect to win or does he WANT to win? This defensive response is bullshit tbh when there is a guy like Ant showing the exact mentality that this team has been missing for almost a decade now.
Its obvious that the team isn’t supposed to win every game but why does this dude keep bringing it up as if there aren’t things that they are doing directly leading to those losses? There’s one undefeated team in the NBA rn and those guys have their leader calling them out for doing dumb shit in wins.
Clear difference between someone who says they want to win and someone who actually needs to win at all costs lol.
Bruh
I never liked people like JT when it starts going bad in a game they act like they are too good to even try so they joke around. Every team has that one player, shame on you JT
Not a good response
This is literally the best series all over again lmfao. Every doomer comes out when they lose but it’s the fucking playoffs ffs. Shit happens, that’s why it’s multi game series
Luka won !!!!
Well we at least expect that you put effort to win it. Not get caught in a thought of ‘no worries we’ll score more’ and stop defending. Some of the switches tonight was shameful. Of course it’s ok to lose but it’s happening because you belittle your opponent is not a nice display
