With Toronto getting a WNBA team what’s some good names?



Some names I’ve considered so far

– Huskies (old Toronto name)
– Dragons
– Voyagers (the team name I use for Montreal expansions in 2K lol)
– Swords
– Northstars
– Thunderbirds

    I’d borrow from the “We the North” campaign and call them Toronto North. Makes it sound more like a nation than a team. “Tonight in WNBA action, the Storm take on the North”. Team logo is a black flag.

    Toronto Wave (or Waves)

    Hear me out – a lot of the other WNBA teams have names like this… Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Seattle Storm.

    It’s a nod to Lake Ontario without being anything close to “Lakers”

    Edit: And their mascot could be a Nessie or Ogopogo type dinosaurish creature

    Washington Football Team has been made available since 2022 (merch can be bought from liquidation as well to cut costs), and “Toronto Washington Football Team” has a distinct ring to it

    The Toronto Beavers. Since that’s what the Raptors were once almost named. There a connection to the city history.
