Monte gets a D no meaningful improvements. He knew the rosters deficiencies and no change. No one with a high level of athleticism and length at the 3-4. Mike gets a C too many losses to bottom of the league teams plus missing the playoffs.
Jonathan Isaac will be perfect a PF that can hit open shot and plays defense like no other…only problem is health
Matt I think I've asked you this before and didn't get a reply but what makes you think Monte wanted to run it back more than Mike Brown did?
Mike Brown is the one who said he believed this team can CONTEND for the title THIS SEASON back in October, around the same time Monte said it's a "long process" to become contenders.
And talks between Monte and HB went silent for a couple weeks, meaning he was trying to upgrade – i.e. Monte did NOT want to run it back
So it seems all evidence indicates Mike Brown wanted to run it back more than anyone, especially since he believed this very roster can contend for the championship this year. Sounded very much like Brown genuinely liked this roster. By his rotations he also seemed perfectly happy with Harrison Barnes as a starting forward going into this season. Monte was clearly considering not re-signing HB
Kings need to play Sabonis at PF
Why does mike get a B? He's a C+ at best this season. Bad rotations, challenges, timeouts called or not called during runs, and chucking up 3s. Too many inconsistencies that seems to stem from the coaching aspect.
Monte gets a C too. While he didnt make any meaningful improvements, he also didnt hurt or completely tank the team. But after this season, he should have a clearer image of what the ceiling looks like so it should be a lot easier to choose what kind of players to go after. But getting those types of players on the other hand is a different story.
Kings are developmental. They have to practice their shots, passing, playing as a team.
