Did the refs cost the Cleveland Cavaliers a chance to tie the series against the Boston Celtics?

The Cleveland Cavaliers entered G4 vs. the Boston Celtics trailing 2-1.

In front of the home crowd, the Cavs thought they may get a favorable whistle. According to JB Bickerstaff and Darius Garland afterwards, that was not the case. Neither went too far in on the refs, but both made it clear the 24-7 free throw discrepancy is something the league needs to look in to.

Are the refs the reason the shorthanded Cavs couldn’t beat Boston on Monday night? Or did it have to do more with the fact Cleveland was playing without Donovan Mitchell, who suffered a calf injury in Game 3 on Saturday?

Garland, Max Strus and Caris Levert — and even Evan Mobley — found their rhythm in Game 4 and kept the Cavs afloat, but it wasn’t enough to take down Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown.

All this happened on the court with LeBron James sitting courtside. What message was LBJ trying to send by attending his former team’s playoff game while trying to leverage a bigger deal from the Lakers?

  1. We're definitely winning Game 5! BOOK IT!! They're already looking past us, and if Donovan OR Allen play, we'll be fine. CAVS IN SEVEN WHY NOT?!?!

  2. Isaac Okoro horrible shooting and Lavert 3 point % destroyed any chance Cleveland had not the officials

  3. We went to rhe line for what 5 shots not includ8ng the technical fouls?…of course they were screwed….they've been getting screwed since game 5 of the Orlando series.

  4. What summed it up was the jaylen brown foul call with 2 minutes left. Luckily the cavs still had their challenge

  5. So I was at the game but I'm rewatching parts of it again to get better detail.

TNT sends two nobody's to announce the game, and halfway thru the first Q, they call him Eric Mobley…..

…… And then there was the reffing. Everything was against us.

  6. It was definitely the reason they lost in a 7 point game…. so many free throws boston got on ticky tack fouls and the lack of fouls the cavs got

  7. Jason! I have a question for you. I have heard that the Lakers really really really really want donovan. do you think that's why Lebron was in Cleveland last night? of course there's all the rumors about him being in town to see if he wants to come back which I don't think is a thing – but I'm wondering if he was here to recruit? DISCUSS!

  8. Hiw can you cofidently say the refs didnt effect the outcome of the game the Cavs litterally outscored the Celtics by 9 if you take away FTs

  9. A foul is a foul.. they both agree that we didn't get favorable whistles but it don't have anything 2 do with the markets.. no star so no call is acceptable? Wtf🤬

  10. Let’s just face it, the Celtics have always gotten the benefit of the calls from the officials!! They are the Celtics!! It’s not how many favorable calls; it’s when and the kind of fouls the Celtics get. The “stomach touch” foul was an example of how uneven the officiating was in that game last night. It’s an embarrassment to the League how the officials conduct themselves when it comes to that team. But we can’t hold our breath expecting a change or an improvement! It would be nice though if the NBA would at least look into it.

However, B.J.’s ineptness has been shown over and over, as well! Playing small line ups and failing to utilizing more of his bench is a problem that the Head Coach continues to contribute to his team’s lack of success!
