Donovan Mitchell will be entering the final year of his current contract at $35 MM. Mitchell has been non-committal towards a long-term deal to remain with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Miami Heat would have to potentially outbid the Lakers, Rockets, and Nets for Donovan Mitchell with a package including Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic and Jaime Jaquez Jr. The Heat have the least amount of tradable 1st round picks in comparison to the other three teams.

No Donavan Mitchell is injury prone like Jimmy Butler. His always getting injured. Heat need a point guards that can play most of the games in the regular season and the whole playoffs. Jimmy Butler and Donavan Mitchell are robbing their teams for 100 millions of dollars. They are always injured. Injury prone players usually get wave. This is probably Jimmy Butler last contract. When Donavan Mitchell contract is over a bunch of teams going to offer him minimum contract. Heat need a true point guard that can move the ball around. Donovan Mitchell is a shooting guard that has good ball handling skills. Heat has a bunch of shooting guards they don’t need no more shooting guards. Heat has no good ball handler beside Jimmy Butler and Keon Martin. Heat also need a 7 foot center that can help Bam Adebayo play defense down the paint.

The one thing working in miamis favor is I don’t see other teams risking valuable assets for Mitchell with no assurance he’s gonna sign long term with them. Lakers maybe the only team desperate enough to do it anyway but I think Miami can outbid them with their young core being MUCH better than the lakers.

The good thing with D Mitch that wasn't the case with Dame is he only has a 1 year left on his deal so if he said he was only signing with Miami long term there is no way a team risks a ton of assets for a guy that will walk in a year. I mean maybe 1 would like the Raptors with Kawhi, but it makes it more likely if he says he'll only sign with Miami.
