I don’t think this does much for anyone that was already sold on in. Everyone knows he cant shoot. Everyone knows his jumper is going to be at work in progress. If he had a good looking jumper or was it anywhere close to where he needs to be as a shooter right now? He’d be a absolute lock for a top three. Pick. The fact that we will have a good chance to draft him at 4:00 or 8:00 even is solely because the kid can’t shoot yet
I don’t hate his form though. I think he really needs it to be cleaned up a little bit and get lots of repetition, but I think he can become an average jump shooter at some point

If you’re playing with Wemby you better not be taking too many Dribble Jumpers.

What brakes ? Everyone knows his jumper is shaky, picking that high means that you think it will improve.

Literally wasn’t his role on UConn and won’t be his role for the Spurs.

If Sochan didn’t exist, I’d be 100% sold on taking Castle. But that isn’t that case unfortunately.

Dejounte’s shot was bad too and now he’s league average from 3 more or less I think? Gotta have the faith it will grow

Well yeah lol Castle isn’t going to be a point guard long term I don’t imagine. If we pick him at 4 or 8 the expectation shouldn’t be that we’re going to ask him to score a ton off the dribble. We should be asking him to play a Bruce Brown role where we can get him the ball against close outs and use him as a screener and get him the ball on the short roll where he can get in the paint and make plays. He’s not a typical PG where he’s gonna set up others and run an offense but he can immediately improve our defensive identity in a major way and fit in on offense with Wemby running things.

Hadn’t seen his pps numbers until earlier today and that is quite impressive.
We saw how good Dev and Wembys two man game was at the end of the season. Bub has a similar smooth pull up with a very high release point. I can picture a future with Bub, Dev and Wemby as the three primary ballhandlers especially with the playmaking strides Dev and Wemby took throughout the season. He might not be a pure pg but there’s plenty of playmaking upside especially in a fluid system bc he doesn’t need to dominate the ball.
One of Bubs favorite actions was coming off like a weakside pin down curling in and being able to hit the corner, a big or just pull up. He and Vassel could create so much conflict for defenders in the Spurs system bc they could run actions on both sides.

I mean, most Castle people already know this.
I’m equally concerned that he can’t really get separation on dribbles, either from handle, strength, deception, or speed/quickness. Even if his shot gets to 36%, he’s not guaranteed to get by anyone, unless its on a closeout (which someone else would have to create for him).
