  1. Not shocked by the Mobley thing. Mobley was following the Raptors before the draft. He wasn’t following many NBA teams but he was following the Raptors on Twitter.

  2. I'm sure i am not the only one that wanted Mobley as well. I'm happy with Scotty but before that draft the 1 guy i wanted was Mobley

  3. Scottie needs to really deliver this year. As a fan base, we've seen his potential, we've gotten rid of the blockage (OG/Pascal/FVV), we've setup other young stars around him. If he's really HIM, he'll take the next step this upcoming year. If he fails, Aaron Gordon is right.

  4. Vince Carter is the greatest Raptor of all time period! This was just a hockey city before Vince Carter. He made basketball relevant in Toronto, Ontario, and probably for a lot of people around the country. Every Canadian basketball player mentions Vince Carter as someone they’ve looked up to. Vince Carter is basketball in Canada! Some of you younger fans or people came into the country after the Vince Carter era will never understand his impact in Toronto. As much as I like Lowry he didn’t do what Vince Carter did for the sport in Canada.

  5. I don't see it as disrespect but recognition on SB game. AG probably thought SB have the built to do both ends of the court. For SB, it can turn into motivation to challenge himself to turn his game into next level.

  6. Come on what disrespectful about that it’s his opinion this will motivate SB to work more harder to prove him wrong as of now how SB play like a glue guy actually

  7. We don’t how far Scottie Barnes will go as our future star, but he’s definitely the future of this team. As far as Vince Carter he deserves to has his Toronto Raptors jersey retired.

  8. I agree with Gordon.
Scottie would be a great 3rd option on a championship contender.
Maybe a second option, but he's not there yet.
He isn't the same caliber as the great closer types needed to win.

  9. I was right there with you with the disdain for Vince Carter. Raptors during his era pissed off so many talented players. You really had to look at it logically. The common denominator was the management. To add on to that theory. Vince Carter did an interview where he said he talked to the Raptors management about staying with the team. He didn't want to leave in the end. But management had enough and just let him go.

He definitely should have his jersey retired in Toronto. We wasted his talent. It's the least we can do for him. This team would have been really good if management could get over their ego resign Vince and the team could have gone on a roll with a two-headed monster of Carter and Bosh. What could have been.😔

  10. I still think we can make a move to bring Moberly here. He would be a perfect fit with Barnes

  11. HOW many times have people criticize scottie and scottie goes and proves them wrong lol. ROTY AND ALL STAR.. aint nothing new

  12. L take on Vince Carter. He was the reason I got into basketball and loved it; yeah, he left, but come on, players leave all the time. It wasn't a pretty exit, but management really is also to blame just as much for letting him go. his impact on the team and country as a whole will never be forgotten. You can't tell the story of the raptors without Air Canada. thank you vince

  13. Retiring any Raptor jersey before Vince Carter would be a failed decision. Carter was like the Lebron James for Canada. He had star power, he brought us success we never saw before, and ignited the belief in Canadians that we can play basketball with the best of them. How things ended is irrelevant, Carter is a Raptor GOAT.

  14. I wanted Mobley too in that draft .. Mobley was better fit with Pascal & OG …Mobley would have been Allstar with Raptors .. I think he would have developed better with the Raptors ..

  15. Ben you were a baby when vince was the man here in toronto respectfully if you didn't witness his greatness and see how he changed Toronto to the city you know now just let it go brother. Kyle and demar as much as i love those 2 can never compare to vinsanity💯

  16. I understand your feelings for Vince. I felt the same way. But the fact he never won a championship was already sweet justice for me. And the fact that he still shows love to Toronto after the fact, I'm okay with him now.

Give the man a W after retirement.

  17. I’m 38 I’ve watched it all since the day Vince came here and he 100% unequivocally deserves to have his jersey retired. Respectfully, your understanding of what happened probably isn’t accurate because you were a child. Not your fault, but Vince is the best player in franchise history by far

  18. If you were a Raps fan during Vince's tenure and lived the end, you are on the fence whether his jersey should be hung in our rafters or not.

  19. Vince put the Toronto on the basketball map, for the US. Canada was already big basketball fans with the Dream Team and the '94 world championships (held in Toronto). Toronto is the fourth largest media market in North America. The Raps were never going anywhere whether Vince showed up or not. All Vince did was make SportsCentre come up North for a few games and air them in the US. All this "Vince kept the team in Toronto crap" is so ridiculous that it's silly.

  20. No disrespect, he has the skill set. I believe if we get a bonafide scorer, Scotty might end up in a similar role.

  21. Scottie is not a number one… That's no disss.. Gordon was paying a compliment. We should care more about winning and not who the heck the best player should be .. This is the biggest problem in the Nba.. Its a team game.. Not a me game.. No wonder our team is so bad

  22. It's not disrespect. NBA players have inflated egos and most think they are the best. Saying someone is like himself= he thinks Scottie is also the best.

  23. It is insane that Vince Carter's jersey is being retired in… Jersey (New), before in Raptors. He literally put our team on the map and made everyone around the world starting to wear Raptors swag.

As someone who had the privilege of regularly talking with Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter back in the day, I can tell you Vince never betrayed us. It was our organization that let them down. If we hadn't had Butch Carter as coach, there's a good chance Tracy would have stayed in Toronto—he disliked him that much. Vince grew disillusioned with our GM at the time because they made no efforts to bring in talent and hired staff who weren't prepared to nurture young players.

Anyone who was around back then and understood the politics knows exactly why Vince eventually disengaged from the Raptors. Yes, it's his job to play hard, but when you feel unwanted by your organization, it's understandable why he played the way he did to force a trade. Toronto needs to move on from this. There may be more beloved Raptors players like DeRozan, Lowry, Amir Johnson, and Matt Bonner, but no one did more to put the Raptors on the map than Vince Carter. In my opinion there is not question that his Jersey should be the first one retired.

  24. Scottie has the weight of the world on him now. An injury would foil the Raps long term one track mind plan. Didn't they get an offer for Durant ??

  25. Disrespected? Lol that’s a compliment from AG. If Scottie becomes AG with top tier passing I wouldn’t complain.

  26. Sorry Ben, I do not see it the way you do with Gordon. It is not a one man show. Raptors had Gasol, Ibaka…
Imo, we would not have won a Championship. Masai has got the eye on who is good and on bb he should make the player picks.

  27. Si Aaron Gordon, gumaling as a player dahil kay Jokic…Si Scottie, nag improve ng walang team mate katulad ni Jokic pero magaling na talaga scottie…if meron mentor si scottie tulad ni jokic, 100% lalagpasan pa ni scottie si Aaron Gordon….3 stars and the sun baby!

  28. I’d rather retire Kawheel chair before bro.. at least dude was professional when he was here…!

  29. The Raptors should absolutely NOT retire Carter's jersey after the disrespectful way he departed the team. Did he do a lot for the team while he was here? Yes, but the one doesn't make up for the other. Lowery deserves that accolade far more.
