Damn way to end a series but its the right call

Ball first don’t matter. The ball doesn’t get jarred loose. Clear foul

Had to edit. Was driving me crazy lol

  3. slysonic7

Such an unnecessary reach on the left arm as he’s past him

  4. Noriskhook3

How the hell is that all ball? Are you guys blind, he literally hit his elbow

  5. aPatheticBeing

okay I didn’t understand this rule – he got all ball first, but then hit the arm after. Because it’s before the release, that’s a foul.

Foul merchant fouls to end his season. Satisfying.

  7. PinkPantherParty

He got the ball but the ball stayed with PJ and he hit his arm. Definitely a foul.

  8. No one in this thread knows the rules it seems, it doesn’t matter that he got ball because Washington still had the ball when he got hit on the arm. It wouldn’t be a foul if Washington had lost possession of the ball there.

Turns out having a set shot release is good for something

Correct call, no controversy, not a single OKC player was surprised to hear the whistle.

Dumbest thing you can do in that situation.

Reminded me of Manu’s foul on Dirk in 2006

  12. lebrongarnet

Clearly a foul, if that was overturned then the rule is broken.

  13. KingOfWeTheNorth

People just out here repeating what the ref said on TV like it’s their insight lol.

No way washington is hitting that shot. Dumb foul by SGA

  15. intern3t

They made the right call. Hell of a series from OKC.

If there wasn’t a foul, not much would change. Kyrie woulda buried them following.

FTA gets dose of his own medicine

The replay cuts off that Kyrie caught the airball and scored.

If the ref didn’t whistle it would have been Mavs up 1 with like 2 seconds to go, which would have been a much better ending for “neutrals”, with OKC having a timeout.

If it wasnt called for a foul, then Kyrie gets the putback. Still a lead for the Mavs.

Clear foul – there were 2 plays here

    1. SGA **clearly** blocked PJ

    2. PJ **retained possession** and shot the ball, but SGA **clearly** fouled PJ

Also – if no foul was called, Kyrie gets the put back and Mavs are up 1 with 2.5 seconds left.

Kyrie with a follow up even if it’s not a foul.

  22. Confused me for a second too. Usually, the ball is dislodged so contact after doesnt matter. But here, the ball is still in control and he was still in the middle of his release. A niche advantage to a 2-motion shot release lol

  23. I mean I had no idea what the rule was honestly, just pissed me off that the broadcast was completely wrong. They were dead set on that getting overturned

  24. Dynamically_static

If the ball hasn’t been or isn’t being released why tf would it matter if he hit the ball first? At least the refs and the NBA got it right. ESPN is a bunch of morons.

Costly foul by OKC star player and costly challenge by OKC head coach. This one might hurt a while for their fans.
