ESPN in shambles because they thought players payed attention to them and cared about their opinions. Meanwhile Luka just finding out the trade grade over a year later.

  2. Dinwiddie, DFS and a 1st rounder for Kyrie people. The Nets got a few first round picks and Mikal Bridges for 3 hall of famers

  3. BallsAreFullOfPiss

Kyrie landing in Dallas is the best thing that could’ve happened to him. Perfect place for him.

  4. Now that you think about it, before the trade, the Nets were the 2nd best team in the East. Then they slowly got worse, barely making the playoffs, getting swept in the first round. And then in this season, they didn’t even make the play in.

Nets front office is terrible, they didn’t even make any trades this season when they have many assets.

It’s worked out well for Ky and Luka. Considering his history, ESPN would have said any team trading for him would get a D.

But without the trade for Washington, the success story would be different.

  6. Love love love watching Kyrie play , even if he is a bit of a kook.

  7. NefariousnessHuge143

Love seeing the public perception of kyrie completely change lol. He’s always been great

  8. Wait, i really thought that the D rating trade everyone was referencing in this sub were the gafford and washington trade. Wtf

  9. OmniSzron

I’m pretty sure they gave it a D rating, because Kyrie at that time was both unhinged and expiring. They gave us their unprotected first in 2029 and two seconds (’27 and ’29), plus Dinwiddie and DFS (basically their only solid defender) for a guy that sometimes just doesn’t show up to work, and when he does he plays the same position as Luka, and in the end, he just might walk at the end of the season.

The fact that Kyrie mellowed out, re-signed with the Mavs and found chemistry with Luka is basically the perfect storm for the Mavs. As much as I like clowning on ESPN, you can’t really blame them for that grade. Mavs fans should really thank their lucky stars that this is the result, while also keeping in mind that Kyrie’s first couple of seasons with a new team are usually rosy. But at some point, it goes sour. It happened in Cleveland. It happened in Boston. I thought it won’t happen in Brooklyn, but we all know how that went.

I would of been like…they can suck my d

  11. King-arber

I think me and most this sub agreed with that rating. The jokes this sub has about him in Dallas were flying out.

He’s been really good there obviously and hasn’t had any off court issues I’ve heard about

Kyrie D TRADE, gafford and washington D trade

  13. Balls_of_Adamanthium

This Dallas team is very likable.

  14. rtels2023

That’s a dumb grade if it was just a couple of months ago. They got and re-signed an All-Star caliber player for Dorian Finney-Smith (a run of the mill 3-and-D wing whose shooting has declined), Spencer Dinwiddie (traded for cap space and immediately cut after one season of subpar play), and a guy who’s 14 years old now.

  15. simonffplayer

mavs trade for kyrie, pj and gafford: A

    mavs tank for lively: A

  16. novabull23

Paging Bill Simmons who trashed this trade

  17. HiLLCoUnTrYHiLLbiLLy

Sad blazer fan here. And now closet bucks fan.
I have ALWAYS hated the mavericks. Which is why I am surprised to say I hope Luka and Kyrie get the chip.

  18. ExplanationOdd430

Sports media as a whole is a circus with a cross eyed ring leader. With “Inside the NBA” probably out the door and Espn being a complete hallow shell of how good it was in the 2000s and 90s, sports media will cease to exist for Sport fans. Unless your someone who loves click bait and memes, again for us real sports lovers we can only hope FS1 fills the void but I keep no guarantees.

  19. Active_Ad8930

D/F grades from ESPN means you actually made a 4D celestial chess A+ move.

  20. bmanley620

That rating was misleading. They were just saying D for Dallas

  21. John_Stamos11

“Both of us hate the Jews. It’s gravy”

  22. Great_Huckleberry709

The D grade definitely should have been for the Nets. Kyrie is a great basketball player, he always has been. It’s idiotic to let your dislike of the man cloud your ability view him as a player

  23. MasterComms

Yeah, so how’s espn been doing lately?

  24. BetsonStennet69

To be fair, last year was a train wreck.

  25. The vaccine stuff was so dumb and overblown. I mean he shoulda just gotten the damn thing so he could play but like Michael Porter Jr never got vaccinated and no one cared.

  26. Kyrie when playing was never an issue. Whether or not he WILL play was the issue.

  27. 1337hacker

You gotta remember how down on Kyrie public opinion was, he was seen as a locker room cancer due to skipping out on the Covid shot.

  28. TheMoorNextDoor

As a Brooklyn Nets fan, our time with Kyrie wasn’t great but I don’t hate the man and I identified unlike Dallas, our very own media used to get on his case sometimes rightfully so but they also used to bait and attack him knowing it they should’ve left the man alone. The Vaccine issue was annoying (as a science believer I said he should’ve took it) but no way should have other teams should’ve been allowed to play games in your city while Kyrie wasn’t until Eric Adams got hit up by the Yankees who made him change his decision immediately before the baseball season even started.

I wish him luck in this next series, will be interesting to see if he makes it back to the Finals.

  29. Substantial_Tip3885

If you consider his track record before the trade I would have given the Mavs an F grade. But it seems like he has dug himself out of the weird rabbit hole he was in.

  30. spidersilva09

Luka ethered that. Acted like he didn’t know anything about it, says ok and we still don’t care lmao

  31. This was a very dumb question just to get a juicy sound bite for the journalist. Sport journalism can be so shitty

  32. As long as kyrie plays the game and focuses on playing the game, he’s one of the best nba players in the league.  It’s when he does his off court shit that starts affecting his game.

Getting a fresh start was probably the best thing to happen from the nets

  33. visual_clarity

ESPN: No! D grade as in Dallas grade. I can see
this was just a misunderstanding
