second um but biggest key to victory for Miami you might want to say it’s slowing down tyres Maxi and joelan beid sure I think your biggest key to Victory and here’s here’s the fact of the matter and this is how it really goes like you always always always if you want to win a playoff series a playoff game an elimination game your two star players have to be better than the opposing team’s star players and if we just look back over the past two weeks to the countless big games that Miami has played in that they have fell short in against Philly a week and a half ago against Indiana last Sunday against Dallas on Wednesday what was the common denominator in all three of those losses well Jimmy and Bam got outplayed by the opposing two stars on the other team and beid and Maxi combined for 70 bam and Jimmy combined for 30 that’s that’s not a winning recipe Indiana seak and halberton went off on you Jimmy and Bam were very mediocre and then obviously with Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks Luca and Kyrie were going nuclear and Jimmy only took eight shots I don’t anticipate that being the case and if you want your heat to continue to make a run and get to the NBA finals for a second straight year in the third and five years you are going to have to absolutely have your two stars your Duo bam and Jimmy be the two best players on the floor you don’t even have to be let me rephrase you don’t have to be the two best players you have to at least be the two of the top three that has to be the case and with how bad bam played against embiid two weeks ago I fully expect him to come out with a Vengeance and want to redeem himself for that performance and as much as I’ve been critical on Jimmy and Bam at times throughout this regular season there is one thing that you cannot deny when it comes to the Miami Heat over the past Four Seasons when the playoffs arise out of the three three of the Four Seasons these two guys have been paired up as the duo and Miami they have absolutely showed up in the biggest moments every single time there was the one exception in 2020 21 when the team got swept by Milwaukee in the first round that was a nightmare season from the beginning but the other three postseasons Jimmy and Bam have been the best players on the court at almost all times so to me I’m just going to have to trust and believe they are going to continue to do so in this postseason I feel like what the Heat have thrived off of in the past couple of postseasons is they players around the margins their role players really stepping up uh in big moments and I think for for a Sixers team that I believe is is rather deep one of the deeper Sixers teams that they’ve had this year a lot of lot of places they can collect scoring from you’re going to have to get a lot of good minutes out of uh potentially a Kevin Love uh a Caleb Martin obviously L um Heywood High Smith you know your role players are going to have to shine tonight obviously Tyler herro Duncan Robinson’s going to have to you know wake up out of his slump and figure something out hit a three or two in this game um to really cement yourself as a potential seven seed here in the postseason I’m glad you mentioned Duncan Robinson by the way SMY and I appreciate that because he is available today for the Miami if you were not aware he is playing he missed the last four or five games with the back injury remember he missed 13 days with a back injury prior to coming back and the starting lineup was just announced by the way so we’ll relay that message to no surprise I thought unlikely to get big time minutes and when I see big time minutes like I wouldn’t expect Duncan to play more than 20 minutes tonight I don’t think he would will be that big of a factor for Miami but I do believe he can be an X Factor because if he does play 15 minutes guess what you make two or three triples in those 15 minutes you force the opposing defense to really gravitate towards you on that end of the floor freeing up others like Jimmy bam on slips Haywood heith Caleb Martins you will have an impact that feels much greater than the actual minutes that you are giving so I still believe Duncan Robinson will give you decent minutes today it’s all about if he can knock down some shots though because if he’s not knocking down shots what do I always say when it comes to Duncan he gives you absolutely nothing if teams aren’t worried about him knocking down Trey balls so hopefully he will be able to show up today off the bench and perform very very well all right before we get to this Heartbreaker to the Philadelphia 76ers in the 78 play in game 105 to 104 the heat LED at the half of this game 51-39 and yet another second half collapse from Miami including a horrific fourth quarter where you allowed 36 points you scored 30 but you just got outclassed in the final period by jool and be and Nick [ __ ] Batum sorry for cussing Batum has just been absolutely abysmal all year Well abysmal might be strong but he scored 20 on you today and that’s the highest scoring output he had all season long for the Sixers and you got cooked defensively in the final 24 minutes of this game giving up 66 points in the second half we’ll talk about the defense and More in just a second but let’s run through some statistics for Miami and you did not get play off Jimmy you didn’t you didn’t um Jimmy was locked in defense Ely he had five steals he was an absolute Menace In The Passing lanes and honestly he only made five shots and I think three or four of them were just off dunks and transition because he got a steal and was the only one running down the floor so if you actually look at what Miami did with Butler in the half court he might have shot two of 12 like I’m being dead serious three of his baskets came off dunks I know for a fact he had three dunks on room service two-handed slams coming off steals so if you just take those away two of 15 like I Jimmy has was awesome defensively he hurt his knee in the first half you wonder how much that had to come into play here but Butler just wasn’t good and answer by the way he did have three so he shot three of 15 from the field when it wasn’t a fast Breck dunk the other two buckets he had were three-pointers he got to the free throw of the line a bit to get the 19 but I don’t know Jimmy looked good in the first quarter the knee injury certainly changed the outlook on his performance today um but I don’t I don’t want to give that an excuse because if you’re going to use injuries as an excuse well don’t [ __ ] play sorry for cussing Tyler hero I don’t even know what to say about Tyler I don’t because you see his 25 points and nine assists and you’re like well that’s pretty good but then you realize he shot nine of 27 from the field and four of 14 from three you’re not going to win big games especially on the road when when you have someone shooting nine of 27 are you serious Tyler you got hurt in the first game against the Bucks last year that was devastating the Heat going on a playoff Run for the ages and make the finals we all said that the heat would have had a better chance against the Denver Nuggets if Tyler was in that series but we’ve always told and talked about Tyler and the fact of can he be a top two guy off defensively for this Heat team because hero takes the most shots on this team when the team’s fully healthy can he be a guy that leads to winning basketball as a number one shot Creator and shot taker that’s been the disb around Tyler many people say no that’s why they want him gone the hero fans will think he can and they want him to stay but what tonight proved is that if you’re not going to be able to come out and show out in the big games this was a big game and he no showed for three quarters I’ll give hero credit he played an excellent fourth period I think he had 15 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter might have been 16 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter hero made some big shots down the stretch but he also had a bad decision where the heat were down three with 35 seconds left they didn’t need a three they just needed a bucket and hero took a curling three that got blocked by Nick patum it was it wasn’t a good shot I get that you just made a three that put the heat up too before giving up a 50 run to go back down three but that wasn’t a good shot tell you what if the Heat lose on Friday or even if they win on Friday and get swept by the Celtics in the first round because if you win on Friday and go into the playoffs you’re playing Boston in the 18 series if hero stinks it up and then he get knocked out in the first round and it looks bad would surprise him if he’s no longer on the Miami Heat bam I don’t know what to say about bam if I got to be honest didn’t feel like he was there today I mean listen and he picked up two fouls in the first 5 minutes of the game and kind of played in foul trouble for the rest of the game but once again bam was not a driving force and what do I continuously say about the heat you are never going to win big games against good teams if your two best players do not show up in big games and Jimmy Butler and Bam atab bio combined for 29 Points on Jimmy shot five of 18 10 of 27 two best players combined for 29 Points on 9 of 27 shooting we going be 10 to 27 not going to cut it it’s simply not going to cut it I thought bam did a really good job defensively today as much we want to [ __ ] on Bam um with his offense listen he played good defense and beid was inefficient and beid got cooking late a little bit there but you didn’t come away from this game saying bam got cooked by embiid and to be honest if you came away and if you told me prior to the game starting that if the heat came away for this game and you said bam didn’t get cooked by embiid I would have thought you won and you should have won if it wasn’t for poor defense on Shooters buddy healed and Nick patum killed you in the second half we’ll get to that in a second I need to know your thoughts on this though guys are we cooked are the heat cooked type why for yes Type n for no there’s different you even held Maxi what did Maxi have 19 on six 16 shooting this this this hurts guys you see embiid stats you see Maxi stats if you would have blind take away the scoreboard at the top of the screen biggest a aactor Delon Wright two of seven which means he missed he went 0 for four inside the three-point Arc um he was good too honestly like I like d right in that first half he was very disruptive as well with high Smith and that’s why the heat we’re up 12 they they jumped up to a 12-point lead at halftime because High Smith and Wright were so good in that second quarter defensively um I was kind of shocked by the amount of minutes Nico yich played he played six minutes to start the game or I think it was actually seven minutes in the first half to start the game seven minutes in the second half to start the game um Five Points five boards on a perfect two- two shooting for yic not saying ni yic would have turned this game around it’s not what I’m saying at all would have hurt though I mean 40 plus% three-point shooter he’s 610 611 you got killed on the glass in the end of that game you were outrebounding the hell out of Philly in the first half that’s why you were up 12 pretty sure after they win tonight they are 32-8 when2 and8 is correct I was just about to say they were 31-8 coming into this game with Jo embiid in the lineup this season he missed a ton of time at the end of the day that’s why the Sixers are in this position that’s the only thing that I’m going to try to spin this in a positive direction for Miami is that they barely lost on the road to a team that is 32 and8 when their star player plays which by the way would be like record settings well not record setting but would be close to be about 65 win Pace yeah like it would be 60 be 6 yeah 65 win Pace like that’s a 65 win Pace team right there when they’re fully sou this 164 for reference so that’s a good team we just played I hate I so did the good ball club and they made and the campaign came in and made some big shots that that three he hit in the corner drove me that was huge he didn’t play the entire game gets into the game Corner three nothing but that huge professional all right that’s that’s how we’re going to end tonight’s stream and uh will we have positive momentum no I’m positive going into the final game that we barely lost to the third best team in the East without a 16-point per game score in Terry Rosier so hopefully he’ll be ready to go on Friday hopefully will win hopefully we’ll be fully healthy and we’ll have a 1 18 series with Boston listen and you want this as well like he never make it easy on themselves sure I would have liked to play New York on that side of the bracket excuse me because I think that path to the Eastern Conference Finals would have been pretty easy but here’s the point be honest if you had any aspiration of going to the NBA finals this season again you’re going to have to go through Boston like the Celtics are likely going to be the team in the Eastern Conference Finals and you would have had to play them if you were on the opposite side but we are going to have to play them in the first round if we’re able to win on Friday so might as well get them out early and then the only positive too is if you’re somehow able to beat Boston in the first round and get the massive upset for a second year in a row you know who you get to play in the second round Cavs or magic which after being the Celtics pretty sure you’d be favored in that series all right folks that’s how we’re going to round out today show see everyone
