Jalen Brunson Talks Game 7 Loss vs. Pacers & ‘Special’ Knicks Team | 2024 NBA Playoffs

J congratulations on on the season I know it’s tough to to end it this way could you share when you felt that the hand became injured um with [Music] um in third quarter I went to swipe the ball on tar and I hit his leg and yeah tayor you know you played great high school teams USA Basketball Ving over have you ever played with thep guys of the team that show so much resolve and resilience um throughout my years yes uh they’ve all been different though um in high school I think we were definitely resilient um and um since College obviously we were resilient and um and doing the things that we did and um this team is uh is special in a way that I can’t really explain um the way we just fought the way we just didn’t uh use excuses you know we just kept finding ways and um to the best of our abilities and that was just our mindset and um I just love the fact that we have that mindset J th said that you know the fact that everyone was able to give everything they had let him kind of feel that peace with the way this seem me do you kind of Sim you kind you guys know you just kind ofan out ofas guys to something speci this he said rep peace uh that he had peace of mind too Peace of Mind knowing that everybody gave what they had uh and didn’t leave anything T you kind of feel simar um I would say that I am I love the fact of how how we fought night in and night out and um uh I just I love this group of guys that we have and um just like I said before their mindset our mindset as a group is uh was strong and um some nights when we may have not had what people thought was a a team capable of winning our mindset pushes over that hump and so um definitely proud of what we were able to do this year and proud of how we fought night in night out and um obviously the outcome is not what we wanted but um the way we fought man it’s just it’s awesome J is it frustrating that you didn’t have all of your Healthy parts to be able to to battle to get to where you wanted to go it it’s part of the game and um like I said there’s this group know we didn’t make excuses for anything and so if things happen we move forward with what we had and um obviously we want everyone healthy I think that’s the most important thing but um I think as a group we had that mindset that next man up and um we really took it to heart would you look at this season as as a success given what you guys had to go through and no Jaylen obviously you guys have been shorthanded throughout a lot of this run when you presumably have everybody back healthy next year what do you think we’ll talk about it next year Jay can you take pride in what you accompl as aall player do I take pride in what I have accomplished um I would say is there pros and cons of how I played um the pros is obviously um I played well individually at some points in time during the playoffs and um the cons are that I didn’t play well enough to help my team move forward and so um you can say uh I got hurt in game seven I wasn’t playing well in game seven um uh we had a 2 and a 3-2 lead and so um it’s just it’s hard to look at things individually when you don’t help your team Jaylen the Nick fans when you were already in the locker room chance your name at the end of the game your connection with them the relationship you have with the fan Bas seems very special can you get into what they have meant to you throughout the season they have um been nothing but amazing to myself um to this team to my family and um it’s really cool and so um just so thankful for them and everything and the nights that now we needed energy they they provided for us and uh the games on the road when we need energy they provided for us and so they um they’re amazing and um I can’t really put in the words of what they mean to me but um they deserve much more than what we were able to do um this playoff on they deserve much more than that did you realize in the moment BR no was it like going back I presume coming to watch knowing you’re un um it sucked it was it sucked Jay we always talk about players and teams evolving but how the tips evolve the season how did tibs evolve just as a coach you’ve been within second season um maybe changes and you know growth as a culture I think um tibs has the same mind we do as a team uh tibs is the reason why we have that mindset tibs is the reason why we night in and night out we fight to the best of our abilities and um even though know things may not be in our favor result wise you know he makes sure that we have that mindset night in and night out and so I think he’s evolved by just not I mean he sees everything that everyone says so but but I think when it comes to us now we don’t really care what the people on the outside think of us we don’t care what people say positive or negative um we go forward with what we believe is the best course of action in this inside this building inside the organization and so um I think the way that he is evolved is that his players in that locker room have his back no matter what J I’ll talk I’ll talk about that another time what um you like the shot you yeah um a lot of the shots I make um a lot of shots went in and out um it’s part of the game it sucks that it was happening at the time but um I’ve had a lot of games where I’ve started the game terribly and finished the game pretty strong and so um uh but uh I can’t we can talk about what I was doing what what was happening what was going right going wrong but um just unfortunate J you came out in the third quarter going to Locker rad then you came back then you went back lock were you trying to come back in the game or you still assessing what was wrong with your hand um I thought I just jammed it uh to be honest with you and um I looked down and knew something was wrong Jaylen you talked about all this year how you were kind of like motivated by uh your turnover in the m Miami game or how you play at the end of the Miami game is I mean is there something you could I even though you guys had this incredible year with all these injuries are are you the type of guy that’s GNA pick out one or two things you didn’t do well and that’s going to motivate you or not I I go into the summer um every year looking back on how I can be better as a player um to be the more complete player I can be um there’s obviously going to be a lot of things x’s and otherwise uh physically and all that stuff I can do to be better um I think the most important thing that I need to do is to continue just to strive for Perfection strive for Perfection and um knowing that I’m never going to get there it’s just my mindset is I just need to be better every single day I don’t care what I’ve done as a player it means nothing and I got to to the corner of um but uh I mean I don’t I lost my train of thought I need to be better and I’m going to go into the season into the summer training to be better and um come back ready next year J last year last year you guys seed seed second round appearance this year second seed second round appearance are you happy with the trajectory of the team since you’ve done here I think we’re making um positive strides uh we just need to make more you didn’t think this was a successful year right why do you feel that way well how would you evaluate the year did we win a championship did we get close so no that’s just that’s my mindset that’s just how it is

  1. I feel just as sad as any Knick fan after today. I love watching Jalen Brunson do his thing love watching the two former lakers do their thing as well. You guys will get em next year just be healthy and hopefully its my lakers facing you guys in the finals next year.

  2. I was thinking that Knicks would win but they had ho chance good season for Knicks next year they must go to final eastern,,

  3. Talking about it's not a success if you don't win a chip but start off majority of games since being here including game 7 starting off slow like it's not a game 7 and hogging the ball trying to go man to man with nesmith instead of team ball. Do better in these situations and stop saying you're going to do better in every presser.

  4. He didn't even play good in game 6 or 7. He ball hogs a lot, takes bad shots and thats why they lost. In game 7, instead of keeping pace with the Pacers. He keeps taking deep 3s and missing. Instead of passing to others. Then Tom took him out. But they had no momentum. They cant win with him, hes too little. Knicks need a big defender and rebounder. Get rid of Hardenstein and Robinson. They need to go after Mikal , booker or Nurkic. Knicks are too small. Their tallest player is Hardenstein the 7ft nothing. Then Precious at 6 ft 9. But everyone else other then OG at 6 ft 7. The rest of 6 ft 4 and under.

  5. Pacers were better !! Knicks were up 2-0 amd blew it !! They were up 3-2 and blew it !! They suck !! Got embarassed at MSG

  6. Knicks will be back and healthy. He has the hunger. I love it. Respect to Brunson 🫡
