Who Should Coach The Cleveland Cavaliers Next Season?

[Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] welcome to another edition of the it’s Cavalier podcast it’s your boy Mac and today I think I’m going to try something a little bit different something I don’t often do or get the opportunity to do now it’s one thing for me to talk to you all post game pod you know see where your emotions are are lying see where your head is at and your thoughts and opinions after said games but this honestly is gearing up to be a really really big off season we’re hearing rumors from here there everywhere just we’re hearing so much being said whether it be Donovan Mitchell or Darius Garland or JB Bickerstaff or Jared Allen or Evan Mo or Isaac aoro for that matter there are just so many different things that are being flung about on the rumor mill and one of the things I wanted to do is just come on here and ask you guys how you are feeling about it all so I’m going to ask a series of questions that I’m going to ask you to record your answers in the comment section below and the thing I think I’m going to start with here is the most obvious right let’s start with JB bicker staff a man that has he he seems to be quite Limited in specific areas mostly on the offensive side of the ball we already know that this man is a pretty damn good defensive coach he’s gotten the most out of this group in many different regards on that end of the floor that really honestly in my opinion if you take a look at what this defense has been able to do over the past couple of Seasons that cannot be argued a lot of the problems are on the offensive side of the ball the rotations the lack of awareness in regards to calling timeouts the lack of proper atos at times there are a lot of different things a lot of different question marks that JB bicker stat has failed to answer concisely and in a meaningful way as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and so there have been reports that suggest that the Cleveland Cavaliers Dan Gilbert Kobe Alman and Company they are going to take their time deciding the future of this man’s job for a lack of a better word they are going to take their time evaluating whether or not this man is fit to be the Cavaliers coach heading into the future and Beyond this season and beyond that being said if JB bicker staff is indeed let go who would you like to see take over for JB as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers I’ve seen a lot of different names suggested I’ve seen Kenny Atkinson I’ve seen Mike dantony I’ve seen Chris Quinn there are a lot of different names out there that could potentially make sense for this team but for me as long as they go into this if they end up letting go of JB if they go in and look at it as hey we need somebody who can maximize this maximize this team on the offensive side of the ball that’s that’s what I want that’s direction that I would like them to go in but for now I’m going to ask you guys I’m going to turn the the the microphone your way and I would like to know who you would like to be the head coach or the next head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers so I’m going to take some time let you feel it out done typing okay let’s move on to to the next question the next question Darius Garland that’s probably the the next Domino to fall outside of Donovan Mitchell you know Donovan Mitchell is really the the Big Shot Caller here he has a lot of power in regards to the future of this team via his possible extension with the team but Darius Garland is a close second in my opinion A lot of people believe the backcourt pairing between Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland they can’t fit they have size concerned they is overlap in terms of their skill set some people believe Donovan Mitchell is a better overall point guard and should be moved over to that slot and then you go from there and but what I would like to ask you all is Darius Garland is Darius Garland can the Darius Garland Donovan Mitchell pairing work long term do you believe that that’s number one this is a two-part question I guess number the other side of that question is do you believe that Darius Garland will indeed request a trade or request to be moved if Donovan Mitchell signs an extension because that is what’s being reported it is being said that rich Paul you know in company which is his agency same agency as LeBron James right that the clutch Sports obviously um do you believe that that is going to end up happening do you think Darius scarland is going to indeed request a trade if Donovan Mitchell signs on the do line so again I’m going give you some time go ahead and fill it out all right let’s move on Jared Allen Jared Allen was probably the most consistent Cavalier all season long prior to his injury he was the best player in the postseason for them through the games that he appeared in in my opinion for the Cavs in that Orlando series now overall obviously Donovan Mitchell is the Cavaliers best player but Jared Allen was really playing like a man possessed especially on the glass where he would end up being the postseason well the NBA’s third leading rebounder through his time in this postseason right behind Nicola yic and Anthony Davis two very good rebounders in their own right but Jared Allen it didn’t just stop there it was on the defensive side of the ball he was a rim protector it was offensively he was rolling to the rim he was acting as a hub at times there were different different areas different faucets of his game that the Cavaliers were utilizing to overcome their lack of shooting they were getting the job done in many different areas with Jared Allen out there and so it’s sucked ass to not have him against Boston we know how that went right we don’t have to rehash anything but what I would like to ask about Jared Allen is do you feel like Jared Allen is hampering or do you feel like Jared Allen is causing Evan Mo’s development to be stagnated because he cannot move over to the center position full-time with Allen still on the roster let me know in the comments I’m very curious to hear your answer or read your answer read your response rather to that one because I at this point in time feel like Jared Allen and Evan Moy can still work if you can get some if you can get some complimentary pieces especially a bigger Wing out there at the three position but that’s just me I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions and again let me know in the comments below we’ve talked about JB now we’ve talked about Darius now we’ve talked about Jared now and Evan to a degree now the man of the hour right Donovan Mitchell so I’m gonna ask this and I want your pure 100% total honesty probably the only time I’m going to ask you this at this point in time do you consider the Donovan Mitchell trade that you know the the trade that we acquired Donovan Mitchell in the trade that sent Lowry Markin in Colin ston oaji and some draft Capital out the door do you feel at this point in time after two seasons that this trade has been worth it I want your honest opinion drop it in the comment section below I’m not going to judge you I just want to hear your thoughts and opinions because this is going to become a topic of discussion if Donovan Mitchell decides that he is going to sign elsewhere or that he is not going to sign an extension with the Cavaliers and let this season ride out or ultimately if you request a trade it is going to be a topic of discussion so before we get to that point if that ever comes I just want to ask the question now do you believe that this Donovan Mitchell trade has been worth it two years after two years later let me know in the comments below all right moving right along here next up Isaac aquo a restricted free agent entering this off season look there is no other way to say it I remain a huge fan of Isa aoro but even me who people consider to be wearing wine and gold tinted glasses all the time I can admit that he did not show up at all from an offensive perspective in this year’s postseason now his work on the defensive side that is another conversation I thought he fared very well and a at a disadvantage often playing power forward out there but the one thing that we all can admit to ourselves even if you are the biggest Isa aoro fan out there even if you’re ISAC aoro yourself and you’re watching this although I know you’re not he did not get the job done from an offensive standpoint the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics afforded this man light years 10 million you know miles of space between him and his Defender obviously that’s an exaggeration but they gave him so much space to operate anytime he was out on the perimeter anytime the ball was kicked out his way they generally let him have that shot every now and then you might get a late contest or rotation just basic basketball but for the large part of those two series Isa Coro was largely left alone when out on the perimeter and he failed to capitalize he failed to knock down a ton of shots from three-point distance and what did that do that that eliminated any shred of offensive spacing that the Cavaliers had in the minutes that he was out there very similar to the New York series last year and when that occurs what happens he gets pulled his minutes get diminished and he’s playing a smaller role even though he’s starting and that’s exactly what happened during this postseason run against the likes of the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics not thought in game one he came out and did an especially good job making sure to take advantage of the space that they were giving to him if I’m not mistaken he went three of eight from three-point distance in game one against Boston but it was basically all downhill from there is HE capable of making the occasional three yes is he coming off the best three-point shooting of his career yes but can he do it consistently and can he do it when it matters and most importantly can he do it with enough volume these are all the questions that Isaac aoro has failed to answer as as the most important time of this season approach and that is the playoffs he did not do that and so entering restrictor frency I’m very curious to see how these negotiations play out for Aur who again like I said I remain a huge fan of that said I can understand many of the arguments being made on upon not bringing him back or setting a specific price point about what you would feel feel most most comfortable with offering him before just letting him walk and so my question to you all in the same line of thought as we’ve been doing this whole time this exercise is one do you want to bring Isaac a Coro back and two what is the number that you would feel comfortable with bringing him back at let me know in the comments below all righty that I cannot wait to read your responses to this should be a fun little exercise here I’m not going to hold you guys I’m going let you go as always say if you like to reach out to me you know how you can it’s Cavalier corod on Twitter Tik Tok Instagram YouTube and more again if you like to support the channel in a small but meaningful way consider becoming 1. Mack – too much homework! Could have been 5 videos!
1)Coach: Chris Quinn for a swing seems interesting – Kenny Atkinson if want some head coaching experience
    2) DG should go if Spida stays – fit in style and salary is tough with Spida
    3) J.A. – Should stay – but only if new coach can get Evan, Okoro and Dean to shoot with no fear – they should be afraid NOT to shoot
    4) Look at other teams LUSTING for Spida throwing every young player and pick they have – yeah – it was worth it because his value is still sky high
    4) Okoro – about 15 mil contract – but needs coaching to let him use his whole bag offensively – if he was moving offensively – would look like a different player

  2. Jarrett and Mobley should stay together, same for SpidaLand, but we need another coach, Chris Quinn should be perfect, or Kenny Atkinson is a solid one. Bickerstaff can be only a top assistant coach. Then, Spida trade, I said it 2 years ago, hasn't been good for us because he is older than our prospects who in this way lost their chance to grow. Garland had an involution. Then, we have too guards, I can't consider anymore Max Strus a 3 or Okoro a 3, so I think we have to do a sign and trade. Okoro has still chances to improve, but we have that 2 spot filled with Mitchell, and he can't shoot. So if we want to play with him, I can't offer more than 10 millions

  3. Defensively Mobley hasn't been held back. Offense is a team effort too His three-point attempts might go up just because he will be less involved with DG's over thought feeds. In out faking the competition he also has his own bigs being less consistent in finishing smoothly. If you want the 245/250 lb. bull dozer unicorn, ralistically that's going to take at least two more years or you would question why would any big want to put on that much weight having a knee clean out already. DG could do the fouled act while shooting and get foul calls and continuations with the best of them in 2021/2022 season.

  4. As far as J.B. goes, I have more questions than answers. Has he 'lost the team' as some suggest? Does he just need some new assistants? Are there any young dynamic assistant coaches or college coaches that could replace him and be a fit with this team? I remember Mike D'Antoni was a great coach but he is in his 70's now, does he have the juice to drive this team? I just don't know enough about current day coaches to recommend one.

  5. Okoro one of the best on ball defenders problem is the offense but I’ll be willing to keep him can’t lose defense & we traded for a superstar who’s all about winning & we more relevant now I’ll say it’s worth it & I don’t think him & dg fit the best & also being a very small back court & I think JA & Mobley do work together but we probably won’t see Mobley full potential

  6. The OKORO apologists in the comments is MIND BOGGLING 🤪🤪🤪 Folks talking about resign him and or resign him to a MAX!😱😳. How long is your fanbase gonna keep up with this OKORO failed experiment and pushing things to the right with that guy?

The folks talking about how the Cavs should’ve kept their picks and players instead of getting Donovan is bizarre as well. Koby drafted OKORO, WINDLER, NUTJOB PORTER etc. Let’s be honest, if the Cavs kept the picks does anyone have any faith that KOBY would do well drafting an impactful player 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
