MAJOR Lakers Trade Rumors On Trae Young & Bruce Brown + Lakers Head Coach News, Rumors

[Music] what’s going on guys welcome into the Lakers report my name is Patrick seatman and coming up on today’s show we got the latest trade rumors around Trey young and Bruce Brown as they both could be leaving their respected teams and then also sham Shan ahead a big time coaching update as where it stands right now on who is the favorite to be the next Lakers head coach dive into all this and and hit that subscribe button lock Us in it would really uh really appreciate it if you guys could do so so the Raptors are reportedly going to be open to dealing Bruce Brown this off season as they do have a team option um on his contract and it’s looking like they will probably uh accept that and then look to deal Bruce uh this summer this is what actually Doug Smith who works for the Toronto Star had to say about the Bruce Brown trade rumors he said the Raptors have until June 29th two days after the draft to exercise an option on the 23 million he’s owed next season a valuable expiring contract to put on the market then he said the sense from a handful of League sources is that the Raptors are likely to pick up the option then turn around and deal Brown quickly rather than wait until the 2025 trade deadline so Doug Smith is suggesting that Bruce Brown could be dealt this off season instead of the Raptors obviously waiting till next year’s trade deadline but Bruce he did sign with the Indiana Pacers last off season and then he did get traded to the Toronto Raptors a part of that Pascal cakam deal and you know in limited minutes um and only 29 ton night he still had a pretty solid year wasn’t as effective as he was with the Denver Nuggets during that playoff run but was still able to put up 12 plus points a game you know three assists still pretty efficient wasn’t the same shooter as he was in over the past couple of Seasons but was still at 32.7% if we’re looking at a little deeper here on his shooting percentages his catch and shoot three-point percentage was down this season at 33.1 he only took about a half a pullup three a game but it was still only at 26.1% even the pull-up midi field goal percentage wasn’t too good for Bruce as well at 39.4 still always solid a get into the rims since his less than 10t is at 58.6 but when you think of Bruce Brown like I automatically think of that run he went on with the Denver Nuggets when he was fantastic I mean look at his stats per each round um during the Nuggets Championship run where he was you know shooting the lights out of the ball um especially in the Conference Finals and NBA Finals shooting 36 and a half% from downtown but we knew who he is as a Defender as well he’s always been a strong point of attack guy and if you got that production of 10 plus points a game you know pretty solid efficiency especially in the later half of the playoff run like I think Bruce Brown would be a great addition to the Lakers and you know in my opinion I you know when you look at the Lakers roster and specifically their back court like I wasn’t a big fan of the combination of DLo and Austin Reeves because they relatively play the same way where they both need the ball in their hands to be effective you know they’re okay catch and shoot guys but like when they’re at their best like they are the one you know Manning the offense and running the show I would want the Lakers to move off one of them and then add a guy like Bruce Brown who is an elite Defender and also he can just knock down threes in the flow of the offense like he’s not a guy that needs a ball in his hand like he can you know if the ball’s rotating and he’s at the end of the shot clock like he’s more of a play finisher in my opinion than a guy like you know DeAngelo Russell so the trade idea I have to match this salary of Bruce’s uh 22 million here would be Gabe Vincent and D’Angelo Russell you know Gabe Vincent was kind of flooded out of the rotation this past season for the Lakers and you would be able to move off D’Angelo Russell and if you think about this like yes in a vacuum D’Angelo Russell is a better basketball player than Bruce but I just think the fit on the roster the lake show would much rather you know I think prefer a defensive minded guard in that back court paired up with an Austin Reed or if they swing big on a Trey young or Donovan Mitchell like I would rather have that type of guy in a Bruce Brown than a DLo next to uh you know whoever the star guard may be but you guys let me know would you accept this trade or is this too much to give up for Bruce Brown give me an a for accept or a d for decline on today’s show or if you’re a Raptors fan watching this video let me know your thoughts down below all right all right what’s the latest around Trey young as he would be kind of the biggest you know prize for the Lakers to you know swing big on this off season and you know I actually saw a trade idea floated out there on the internet and I don’t I don’t hate it for the lake show but I’m also not too too in love with it I’ll explain to you guys my thoughts here in a second but it is giving up Austin Reeves ruy haimura Gabe Vincent and two first round picks in 2029 and 2031 the Lakers right now have three first round picks they can give up and really the Lakers can off for a pretty solid deal and it’s very easy for them to match contracts with any Star they have and we’re looking at their Lake uh their tradable contracts right now um d’angel Russell 17 million ruy 15 Austin Reeds 12 Gabe Vincent 10 like whether it’s you know Donovan Mitchell Trey young you know whoever big-time star that you’re trying to match his contract the Lakers can do that now do they have the young players that they can throw in you know like the Miami Heat can throw in you Haim hackin Nicole yovic that could sweeten a deal but you know the Lakers could get to that contract and also I believe the 29 and 31 first round picks teams are looking at that it’s probably extremely valuable draft picks assuming the Lakers once LeBron you know obviously retires in ad hits the you know tail half of his career like I could see them looking at those picks is potentially top 10 if the Lakers you know if it goes in that direction but Trey young uh this past season he was just himself I mean always averaging 25 plus a game you know 10 plus assists he’s always been you know um just an elite playmaker in my opinion like I feel like he that part of his game really gets undervalued as just a guy who can just be an offensive engine like you can just Spam High pick and roll for him and he can just generate good shots over and over again see defensively he does have extreme liability there and he’s always been sort of a chucker and not the most efficient but in terms of just an offensive engine like Trey young you know is that guy and some more uh deep analytics on his shooting stats this past season catch and shoot 38.9 take that any day of the week pull up three very s at 37.3 pull a midi 452 good as well then it’s less than 10 ft a little below average but still at 49.7 you would take that but my take on trading for Trey young I’m wary of just selling the farm like giving up all your tradable contracts for a guy like Trey but there is no doubt like if you pull off that trade like you would become a better team immediately and I think a significantly better team and also the Lakers can look at this like couple years down the line like let’s say yes LeBron maybe he you know ends up leaving maybe it’s not this year but next year and then you could really have a foundation of Trey young and Anthony Davis which I think would be a pretty good combo you know you have that Elite offensive player and you have that Elite def uh defensive player could be be an anchor of a defense I think their games you know complement each other pretty well and you know Trey young loves running that high picking roll with Clint capella imagine that lob threat being Anthony Davis you know instead of capella like I think his game would take another level too so I would be a little wary of it but hey man I would be uh I’d be I mean obviously I’ll be all in I’m getting Trey meetings to discuss head coaching jobs by interviewing JJ reic James brego and Sam Cel more interviews to come as a part of uh the thorough search that will be going on in Los Angeles now I do want to make this take I have on JJ reick and you know I understand people are going to you know probably want to shoot this down he’s got the podcast with LeBron he doesn’t have any coaching exper experience and I you know I totally understand that but you know in the era we live in right now where you know all these players you know they’re all on social media they’re all on their phones they might have their own podcast as well like I feel like JJ reick is so well-respected amongst NBA like the media Circle NBA Twitter cuz he just he understands the game at a very high level there’s no doubt about that and I think that the social media era we live in especially for the younger players in the Lakers organization like if they’re constantly seeing their phone and they’ve seen just good press about reck over the past two years I think that would get him a respect in that locker room and plus I listen to JJ reck’s podcast all the time this dude knows what he’s talking about he’s an Elite basketball mind I think he’s also very good at you know uh kind of displaying his thoughts and communicating his thoughts on a you know a very high level and I think that would work being a head coach but you know I understand it would be a polarizing choice at the head coach but I actually do believe like JJ reick it would it would end up working out in Los Angeles but Shams also had this interesting quote yesterday and uh this this might get a chuckle out of a couple of you guys but he said I’m told LeBron James is not involved in the Lakers head coaching search James has made it clear that the uh that this is the organization’s decision he’s had no conversation with the Lakers about JJ reick and I just can’t believe that to be true one bit because if you’re Rob pinka who is the first person you calling to get their Insight or input on JJ reick potentially being the next Lakers head coach it’s LeBron James he’s got a podcast with him he’s got a strong relationship with him like I just think that was coming straight from Rich Paul telling Shams like hey we don’t want to you don’t you know let’s just say JJ reck doesn’t work out we don’t want our name connected to it I think this was LeBron kind of finding him you know just an excuse later on if this doesn’t work out but overall I think the Lakers do need a culture Setter at head coach um and I don’t know if JJ reuck would be the best guy for that maybe it would be a guy like Sam Cassell or we know they’re interested and Mike Nori who I’m a big fan of it’s a Timberwolves assistant if you guys been watching the Timberwolves games he’s the one that is actually on the sideline uh right now going up and down the co uh court so I would like him as well but you know I think JJ reic would be a fine choice I don’t think we’ll be able to set a culture there in Los Angeles but hey you guys let me know who do you want as the next Lakers head coach let me know your thoughts down in the comments section you
