Celtics beat Pacers in Game 1 OT thriller: Did Indiana blow chance for an upset? | NBA | UNDISPUTED
well look this is clear the the Pacers choked this game away there there’s no doubt about that right uh so many boneheaded plays it it’s almost too hard to list them but the turnover in the final 27 seconds was a huge part of it and then Rick carile not calling a timeout to advance the ball with 10 seconds full blame for he did he said look this loss is on me and everyone thought oh he’s just covering for his players that’s what coaches do no he’s right because there was still the opportunity for them to win that game when that ball was going into the court and if it was on the other half of the Court Jaylen Brown is not hitting that corner three no so I just I didn’t understand why as an experienced coach as Rick carile made that mistake however even after all of that and they should have won the fact that the Celtics came and took it after playing such a sort of dis combobulated game throughout most of the night that to me was impressive I I am fine with the narrative that the Pacers choke this game away but I’m not fine with the narrative that they handed it to the Celtics because we can’t sit here and criticize Boston for not having their act together late in games that are really important despite their overall clutch numbers and then not give them credit and say ah that was a foregone conclusion after the Pacers choke job that they won this game first of all that Jaylen Brown shot was a very difficult shot with Pascal in his face and particularly difficult for him you know what he’s shooting from corner threes in the playoffs 22% that means there’s an 88% chance that ball wasn’t going anywhere they did call that play for Jaylen to shoot that shot from that corner they did they had faith in him but that doesn’t mean that it was a gimme that it was just oh well the Celtics flubbed the the inbounds so therefore Jaylen was going to hit the winner no that that more times than not more many times than not he wouldn’t have hit that shot but he nailed it and look after after that the Pacers with all of their mistakes y still it was Square going into overtime and they got the first Basket in overtime so I’m not erasing all the stuff that they did at the end of regulation but they still had a chance to just continue and win and Boston instead overmatched them it was a one-point game when Jason Tatum went to take a three in the final minute true and if he missed that the Pacers run down the other end and clearly could score and take the lead again and yet he made the shot he put the game Out Of Reach so I I just the Pacers deserve all of the criticism that is coming to them they choked their part of the game away but they didn’t make the Celtics win the Celtics took it and I appreciate that after some of the stuff we’ve seen in the past um yeah it’s uh the pace is completely blew it right skip you you talk about down the stretch the two turnovers in regular relation then the two turnovers and overtime the off the leg of halberton I don’t know what he was doing he dribbled off his leg just here you take it but the inbound to se yakum was the that was the out of all everything the Rachel went through that was the meat and potatoes of the loss amen because you had ample opportunity to get across the court right so first of all TJ McConnell I don’t know why he’s not inbounding the ball so he’s not inbounding then you there with 1 second two seconds okay you know what timeout as a player you could you could just call I don’t need to I should know the situation whether the coach good says that or not as a player I’m supposed to know the situation what’s on the clock what are we doing right now timeout and if you had called timeout you would take your coach off the hook for not previously calling the timeout yeah exactly so I know it’s eight seconds on the clock we got the ball all we got to do is hit one free throw they’re gonna foul us but now I forced the ball to seak who doesn’t go strong to the ball kind of J jayen was on his back but if you go really strong to the ball you grab that agreed okay and and hold on to that possession took a weird route he’s kind of going sideways he’s not coming back toward all of that happened yeah celus got the ball now I need to switch defense I need cuz TJ shouldn’t even be on the floor at this point he’s an offensive player he’s a liability on the defensive side so now I get bigger I don’t know if he’s a liability but he’s he’s just just small a liability at 8 seconds ago in the game understand you’re liability so now I want bigs on the floor I’m getting bigger more athletic guys on the floor so we can switch if we need to they didn’t switch at all guys was fighting through trying to get across the screens that’s one of the reasons seak got over so late in Jaylen Brown in the corner and had to just kind of sit there he closed on him but now he stuck in a position if I fou him yeah which you know you I would probably take my chances on three shots versus an open three even if he is 22% from the corner in that moment guys just tend to somehow Superstar players tend to hit those shots at the at the end but that all that whole sequence skip happened where you didn’t call timeout you didn’t have the right guy inbound the ball SE yakum didn’t go get it you didn’t switch on defense the way you probably should have that’s why they lost the game a whole bunch of other stuff happened too but that’s the main enchilada as to why they lost the game okay I do agree with Rachel’s final takeaway when it was time the Celtics said that’s enough in overtime they took the game over and they deserve to win the overtime but the Pacers choked away regulation obviously so we have two things operating one led to the other all right so let’s go back to the first couple of flasho moments that inspired a text from you to me okay which you I don’t know okay you were probably texting so many people he was all over it last night okay this these are the Nim hard shots we got two Nim hard shots there’s the first one and when he hit that this kid takes and makes big shots for them and I’m like uh oh and then he comes right back and does it again another Nim hard shot when he let it go I was like I don’t know about that I I don’t know about that so he makes two shots that put them up Five Points oh yeah that was my eyeballs yeah the the first one put up up five and the second one put him back up three with 46 seconds left so he made those two and you gave me the eyeballs that’s kind of side eye like that wide eyed yeah which is like uh oh because just remember you know Paul very well better than we do actually but but the point is we have to put up with Paul Pierce day after day after topic after topic gloating and and and emoting about the Celtics how they’re just going to Cakewalk to another championship here first one since Paul and Company one1 back in 2008 and it’s over and it’s done and this is going to be simple and easy and he thought that they would win by what was it 15 last night okay so we have to put up with that and so that’s why key texted me and probably a whole lot of other people like uhoh uh oh look what’s about to happen I picked the Celtics but I would have taken that I picked them to win yesterday but I was taking that l in a heartbeat oh I have took it in a heartbeat I was oh yeah in a heartbeat beat a stopped heartbeat right okay so now comes what I thought was the first real flash point Turning Point moment Jason Tatum missed a three with 36 seconds left and and let’s see what halberton did as key referred to so he missed it’s a wide open there’s nobody even guarding him and they get the ball back and Nim hard falls down but he gets it out just take your time e you run the court let him foul you dribbled it off his knee and dribbled it off his own knee if he takes his time they’re fouling just take your time okay so we had an incredible emotional swing here because we had the best player on the Celtics missing a wideopen three and we have seen him in the past do some of this in the past not all the time but some of the time he’s missed some of those big shots and all of a sudden we have the best player on the other team a backto back now two-time Allstar a guy who led the league in assist this year and he is since simply dribbling the ball up the floor what what time is left so 35 30 like 30 seconds at 27 seconds the ball goes out of bounds and I I fell out of my chair he he is so good with the back he led the league and assists and he dribbles the ball off his knee in the moment of the game if he just merely carefully gets the ball across half court maybe even passes the ball off to n drible if he just dribbles F half they’re going to foul him he’s rushing up the court you don’t need to rush in that situation yeah there’s no need to okay I was just dumbfounded because it’s the last thing I thought would happen at that moment from that guy in that situation I did not see that one coming okay so then we go back down to the other end and we’ve got we got a Derek white Miss and then Jason tat Tatum what was that shot he missed another one the 15-footer I think we have this at the other and we’re still watching the off sorry but that was the one that was the one for me that I screamed at my TV yeah here’s the sequence of very quiet and then Jason Tatum and he just shoots a big fall away from the free throw line and misses badly and SE yakum gets the rebound and now we got the take foul on Jason Tatum because he’s got he has no nothing else left the game is very very close to being over and instead it’s side out of bounds okay so now kesan broke down the side out of bounds play there’s Jason Tatum shot so he missed two big shots shs in a row now let’s look at the side out of bounds and and again Drew holiday who played a sensational game he’s playing center field on this play and and it just forces he he goes and jumps on halberton and seak I I don’t think seak wanted the ball very badly he did he didn’t really come to the ball she came toward yes the inbound little more aggressive yeah instead of going toward the basket I would have felt like he should have came toward the inbound guy but the spacing look at look at where all the Pacers are on this right he doesn’t have a lot of options trying to throw past got stuck he did right yeah trying to throw Pascal open was a huge mistake and by the way I’m curious if the final two-minute report later today says that Pascal seak actually got filed on that but again that that doesn’t that doesn’t change the fact that the inbounds should have never happened there it’s it’s so perplexing it’s so perplexing because it’s such a simple Play Just to get the ball in balance and if it touches the right palms and fingertips the game’s going because all you have to do is March to the other end and make a free throw but of course there was no time called and now that sets up an inbounds play and the first thing I’m going to say this before we go into this again about Drew holiday that that might have been the best playoff game he’s ever played and he’s played a whole bunch of great playoff games but when you look at his line he’s 10 of 16 from the floor he’s four of eight from three makes all four of his free throws he has seven rebounds and eight assists and the biggest assist came on this play cuz that was a pass not that simple straight down the Baseline into the corner and to hit him on the money right in the shooting pocket it it was some pass that he made and some play that Joe Missoula called because they free up Jaylen Brown off the pick okay so now we get to the charge that was led by LeBron last night on social media everybody’s saying you have to foul okay and you brought up you’d rather just go ahead and foul the three-point except you don’t really want to foul a three-point shooter unless you have to but you’re making the case that that that would even be a better way than letting him have the the three well you right there at this point in time you might as well okay so LeBron if we could see his I think we have his tweet yeah he said and yall still want to know why I would foul up three every single time all caps every single time and LeBron was just leading the charge because I saw like 50 of these kind of tweets from ex players and players everybody says go ahead and foul in that situation you’re saying foul the three-point shot well you might as well yeah why would you give him a open look yeah I’m still stuck on PJ Washington last Saturday night fouled by SGA in the corner but but anyway that was a different circumstance because it’s a one-point game but here I I will say this look I agree with LeBron and LeBron and JJ actually talked about that on their podcast a few weeks ago I’m always fing up three I don’t get it h to coaches not do this I think in general that is correct but I also understand Pascal siakam’s decision in the moment Jaylen Brown yes he is a 72% free throw shooter so not great and definitely if you send him to line three times there’s a good chance he misses one of them right however again he’s only at 22% 88% not Corner three guy so okay if you look at he makes 72% of his free throw but he only makes 22 from there it’s not a dumb decision it’s not nothing dumb but do you think at that moment there plenty of other dumb decisions though this just was but my whole point on that moment in time with eight seconds AG go I don’t think it registered in siakam’s brain at a corner three he’s at 22% let him take the shot my whole thing is close out on him disrupt it and if he knocks it down then I mean if you knock him down then put him at the line you you know he’s 72% at the free throw line know but as far as his three-point stuff and work corners and all that I don’t think that that moment seak would even be thinking about that I don’t think he’d be thinking about the percentages but the coaches do prep the guy of course they got The Scouting Report J Brown can’t really hit the corner three so he knows that look your point is so valid about the fact that he got there late yeah and the switch was just off I mean there was so much about what the Pacers did wrong on that play from the moment that they lined up on that half of the court and then just didn’t have guys in position to actually catch the ball but the fact that they didn’t switch on that well they didn’t switch on anything if you look at the bottom of the screen look at him down uh playing uh brother-in-law down there with the Celtics at the bottom they just sitting there playing brother-in-law instead of just switching it off yeah but that that means that Pascal didn’t really have time to foul the way you were talking about disrupt the shot get a hand in his face like that kind of thing again this is Pascal not fouling you can argue that he should have and I I kind of agree with the general point that you foul up three but that is is not what lost him this game okay but real quick point of order in Rick carlile’s defense in the Huddle he said we’re going to foul so he ordered the foul and he said that after the game he said it after the game and yet he let SE yakum off the hook because SE yakum got there a split second late and Jaylen Brown’s already looking like he’s going to go in shooting motion even though he pump faked one time but seak can’t know you’re going to pump fake he’s just a little late so he gets there and decides at the last second I don’t want to send him to the free throw line even though if you had time to sit him down if you could just sit him down and talk him through this which you don’t have time in real time but if you kesan could talk him through it I think you’d convince him just knock him down just go ahead and make him go shoot the free throw knock down at least put your you knock him down the like oh no wrong you could do sort of an intentional foul of a three-point but even even know he pump faked him he did put your hand up okay he he decided to actually lock his hands behind him so that he didn’t touch his hand just put it up yeah no I I got it get in his it was still an extremely difficult shot just it even make it more difficult it’s just not the reason they lost like you can nitpick that he should have fouled him up three and he no that’s not the reason they lost the reason they lost is because the ball in that place and by the way and and hird kicking it off his leg look the Pacers play with such frenetic Pace they also play very loose I’ve never seen a rick Carlile team play like this but you know true right um they play like they’re on fire in the middle of a tornado and and so I understand that some of these turnovers while mindboggling 22 of them the most at any time at the ones end right while mindboggling I mean how does Hell Burton dribble that off his foot again These Are In the Heat of the Moment everyone’s rushing it’s this kind of thing the Rick Carlile decision was not Made In the Heat of the Moment right that’s his coach who is a championship coach he has so much experience it should be automatic and there was still time when he’s having trouble inbounding and do he should be the one doesn’t lose his mind Rachel no he that’s very coach has got to be Cal this is situation where if you don’t have that experience and we’ll talk about that later on about calm coaching if even at the end of regulation what was that what was that play to hbert it was almost like ball instead of doing and I thought he probably should have kept going to the to the cup but he wind up going to the corner and getting stuck over there final play of Regulation if we could see cuz they could have won that in regul they had plenty of time to get a great shot up final play of Regulation just keep going to the cup I I thought he had a couple of options for shots and then he takes a highly contested shot if he goes right through the lane skip if he just keep going just keep going through the lane he’s on your back heck knowing him his favorite shot is that push shot with with your feet on the floor that three and he made one from the logo earlier in the game well he had that shot immediately and he turned it down in a split second he had it for a second on Derek white and then he decide to dribble well just keep going if that’s what you decided you’re you’re going to be their best option and he dribbled into the best defense possible right corner yeah over on the side trapped in the corner by your quick point on Jaylen Brown you can argue that he took Jason Tatum off the hook at the end of regulation because if he misses the shot then we’re all fixated back on wait a second Jason Tatum had a couple shots to win the game instead of that highly contested shot from the corner and Kean I think you agree with me and we’ve talked about this many times when I’m rooting against Boston the player who scares me the most is always Jaylen Brown it just is where I I I find him L more valuable than Jason Tatum and I’m not saying he’s more gifted than Jason there’s just something about him in these kind of moments where he scares me more than Jason Tatum does he hit that shot well but he’s done it before that’s he could have a bad game like a lot of star players and then all of a sudden and right when you don’t expect that something happens and he hit the shot he’s also a great defender and this is why the Celtics just gave him one of the largest contracts in NBA history everyone everyone recognizes this and look Jason Tatum even Jaylen called him out in the postgame interview right he’s like oh and Jason finally got going he did say that in the four right I mean for a teammate to do that and throw another guy under the bus like that it shows on the one hand the Comfort between those two guys but it also EMP I’m never sure if they actually love each other but they do respect each other I think their relationship is fine I don’t think there’s anything wrong with their relationship but I think that for him to do that it really had to be interesting and Jason missing that wide open three was just shocking the bad decision he made Derek white first of all should have gotten the ball in the cup because he was right there when Jason got the rebound yeah do not make that just just I I don’t know it to not make it the whole thing was just so perplexing it was pretty crazy all right more craziness from the Pacers ensued in overtime because with a minute and two seconds left in overtime down only one point Point watch what halberton did this time here we go again same song second verse second verse oh that’s the last shot okay we’re 102 in overtime 102 in overtime we’re still doing the last shot do we have 102 in overtime the second HTT and turnover no yes they probably okay okay but the point was he he did it again he just lost the handle and it was unforced error it it wasn’t like he got his pocket pick it wasn’t like Drew holiday snatched the ball stole the ball he just I don’t know he just lost the ball this is a two-time Allstar who led the league in assist and it’s incomprehensible because that’s a pretty good opportunity there for you to take the lead and no you don’t take the lead you give it right back to them which leads immediately to the best shot Jason Tatum hit all night which was the open three the same shot he just had he got a a reprieve he got a second shot at it and he ripped it from the top of the circle and that put them up four and that effectively effectively ended the game except cakam got one last shot they lobed the ball into him in the post with it’s uh 37 seconds left and and he Wheels into guess who Jaylen Brown and and just basically just Jaylen says oh I I’ll take this thank you I’ll take this ball away and at that point he could have cut it to two here’s that Twisted right into him yeah he just just Twisted right into him okay all right but Jaylen has to be there and and there has to be smothering defense on his way across the court I mean I again I just think we need to give the Celtics some credit here that was a forc turnover to me and that Jason Tatum when we just outlined how many things he did wrong throughout this game and didn’t have it and all the stuff that we’ve heard sometimes about him and coming up in big games not the closer all of that stuff that people say yeah he was well on his way to another one of those nights but he nailed that three he nailed it you can’t criticize he played well in over time he did he played very well when they do I mean I just I I they made all five of his three over he’s been known to miss a couple of those they they the Celtics won the overtime and that’s not in given with them in any way okay see I feel like now I feel like the serious is over that’s just me I feel like it’s over with now well you thought it was over to begin with but but it’s really over with now that’s how I feel because they got the little rust out of their system because they was playing kind of like they didn’t look Rusty when they jumped out 12 to nothing right but then all of a sudden you know they kind of squander things but the way that the Pacers lost his game is going to affect them moving forward just going to affect them you think so it’s going to affect them you would think so so by the way they gonna play tight they G be scared we’ll talk about this more later yes we will to amplify your point Kean 22 turnovers led to 32 points for the Celtics that’s the most the Pacers have given up all year long off turnovers 32 points it’s a lot of points to give up off turnovers and you’re probably going to lose the game and you did okay can’t wait for this one I got two good people to respond to this is JJ reck about to be the next Pat Riley for the Lakers here we go thanks for watching Undisputed fans do you want more First time I ever heard her make a mistake
No mention of the HORRIBLE reffing?? Pacers got 10 freethrows while the celtics got 30. Tatum alone got 12 freethrows while siakam got 0 despite getting clearly fouled several times. At the end of regulation the freethrow differential was 23 to 3. The pacers shot themselves in the foot but the refs stabbed them in the heart. Biggest robbery of the playoffs so far.
How you throw somebody under the bus when he dropped 36 and you only had 26? Rachel stop reaching😂
Choked isn't the word, but sold!!!!
OK wears Paul?????need him asap
My Celts pulled "it" out, and the Pacers blew "it"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rachel is head over heels more knowledgeable the other two in basketball talk. That said total failure not having Paul Pierce during these NBA playoffs everyday while the Celtics are alive. Better for TV and Key wining is annoying
3 minutes of rachel talking to open?…she needs to relax.
Zero acknowledgement of Tatum's dominant first three quarters and 10 points in OT including the dagger three. Not to mention 12 boards and savage defense the entire game, including smothering Hali on the final shot of the game. Dude had 36, 12 with 4 assists and three steals, with a plus/minus +20. Celtics were -15 in the few minutes he was off the court. But let's only focus on the two shots he missed. These tabloid level takes tell me that these guys don't really know ball.
Why is this chick speaking? Instead of a ex or current nba guy
Skip and Key are the biggest Boston haters. Any team that is our opponent they ride their jock and suddenly that's their team.
Why can't we ever see the playback!??…cmon FS1!🤨🤦🏾♂️
They talk like Jayson Tatum didn’t hit 4 threes in 2 minutes to win game 6 against the 76ers last year and then dropped 51 in game 7
Why did Rachel keep saying hes 22% chance of 3 and 88% not. She said it multiple times. She can’t do math? 😂 no pre requisites for this position
Paul Pierce is tripping this will go 7 games. Celtics 4 – 3.
I think the Celtics are a top team but far from the top because they make way to many mistakes. They would’ve lost this game if they didn’t get saved by a coaching error. If coach coaches well and players play well the Celtics are over with and this is an unbiased POV. I’m not a Pacers or Celtics fan.
Keshan sucks. Tired of his take
WOW! The concept of Math is being forgotten.
Not sure if coach Carlisle made a mistake. His team is up by 3. They're inbounding from near the half court anyway. All the pacers needed to do was secure the inbound and get possession of the ball, that's it! The celtics will clearly commit a foul to stop the clock. The haliburton and inbound turnovers are two boneheaded plays.
Celtics: let's give this game away
Pacers: hold my bear
Rachel is regarded
100-22 = 78 Rachel not 88 lol
Did Paul get fired or something? Why is he not on here after the Celtics won the game
Rachel & Paul Pierce. Well played, Skip. This show is 100% watchable again 💪🏾
Keyshawn is praying hard af for the NFL season to start 😂😂😂
Cs are overrated ,bos fan…kp has to come back
Halliburton ruined the game for the Pacers to win and not have to go to overtime with his bad decision at the end of the game By going for a 3 point shot and missing it which he didn't need for the Pacers to win the game. All he had to do was make a 2 point shot by going right up to the basket with the ball and if he couldn't get the 2 point shot then just get the foul have the Celtics foul him to go to the free throw line to win the game by 2 points or 1 point. 1 point is all the Pacers needed to win the game since the Celtics tied the game towards the end of the game. Don't know what Halliburton was thinking going for the 3 point shot and missing it instead of going for a 2 point shot right up at the basket😩
How do u know he's not hitting the shot? 88% so what. Go bk to espn or who will have u
We need the Truth!!!!!
Where is pp
Keyshawn speaks the truth evrytime stop hatin
Don't put her on the top shelf, please don't.
this show fr espn leftovers huh
You meant 78%…Her math ain’t mathing
Please keep the camera on Rachel when she is speaking 🥰
This loss was on Haliburton. He needs to work on his handles
Keyshawn was a wrestler right?? Can’t they get an ex NBA player on??
Indiana in 6
Rachel Nichols out here doing Scott Steiner math.
He makes his 3P 22%, so there a 88% chance he'll miss. The math adds up.
Its quite interesting how these people only discuss what the Pacers do or did wrong but dont recognize the true talent to force the number 1 team in the EAST to struggle into OT.
How about giving the Celtics credit for being resilient and finding a way to win? This was a game they would have 100% dropped in previous years but these talking heads don't understand that this is a different Celtics team. We all know that if Indy won, the headline would have been the Celtics with another choke job at home or if they're in danger of losing another ECF. Y'all ain't slick.
Get Rachel off this show, Paul Pierce needs to be on every episode.
Just so you know, Paul is probably in Boston for the next few days. That’s probably why he isn’t on the show.
