JJ Redick is officially the frontrunner for the Lakers’ head coach opening, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow. Redick, who has never coached before, appears likely to take over in Los Angeles leading LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

THIS FUCKING GUY DIDN’T LIST AD AS ALL DEFENSE TEAM?!???! HOW COME HE WAS A FRONTRUNNER?!?

  2. Chunky_Coats

Do I got any points for predicting that everyone will hate him and blame him for everything that’s wrong by January or is that just like saying the sun’s gonna rise tomorrow?

  3. Professional_Grass77

Can we get Theo Von as an assistant since we’re signing podcasters

  4. Eric_T_Meraki

Fck it. Let’s just hope he hires a competent staff.

  5. MaryandMe1

I’ll give it a shot. but please give us a center next to ad or bsck up reliable center and good wing depth. that is all.

oh and ofc lebron better re-sign

  6. guacdoc24

Nice lol should be an entertaining season. Would rather swing for the fences then go for a mid option coach

  7. rusticdaisy

Honestly, I can’t say anything negative until I see him in action. So we’ll wait until then

  8. LongBeachBr0

Im just happy not to have a idiot as a coach anymore.

JJ is smarter than any coach we’ve hired in the past decade, and LeBron also clearly likes him. I think I’ll take his opinion over Reddit’s.

Just hire the dude, probably will teach or guys how to shoot and make 3’s.

  11. Not only did Redick not have AD on his DPOY ballot, he also did not think AD and/or LeBron deserved All-NBA second team honors.

I’m not sure his effective discounting of the skill sets of the Lakers’ best two players should make him the frontrunner for the job.

It’s obvious there is a serious politics problem in this organization.

I remember when we had two S tier stars in a championship window we went and got a coach who had 2 three peats under his belt.

Now we have two S tier stars in a championship window and we may sign a guy who’s never even coached high school ball.

    😔😔

  14. Jackedacctnt

Yeah this will be a “Steve Nash” as head coach all over again

  15. Low-Paleontologist43

I do not know about this one king

  16. WeCantBothBeMe

Makes no sense to go from hiring a coach with no head coaching experience to hiring one without any NBA coaching experience.

I think people perceive him as being smarter than he is.

Can we just get an experienced coach? I don’t care who it is, just get someone who can manage lineups and call timeouts when needed. We don’t need Phil Jackson, we just need someone competent enough that won’t sabotage the season like Ham did.

JJ didn’t have AD in his top 10 defensive player ranking and is also a rookie coach.

I’d love to be proven wrong, but I think this is going to be an upcoming disaster season. Hope for the best, expect the worst

The problem is we have no one in our front office with actual playing or coaching experience right now to help us make these decisions, except maybe rambis. Hard to make the right pick with that

  22. In other words, Lebron is the front runner for the Lakers’ head coach opening.

  23. ragner11

This is wild! Adelman is a much more sensible choice

  24. Hour_Insurance_7795

I am not a fan of the decision if it happens, but I will support the shit out of him and hope he proves everybody wrong and takes us where we need to go.

  25. GoalPublic3579

This useless GM needs to fuck so far off.

Wonder what AD is thinking right now.

  26. Pikminious_Thrious

As long as when he gets fired, Pelinka gets shown the door too. Done with that guy and his excuses.

  27. Until it’s official, probably best to not say anything. JJ has no experience as a coach in the NBA, could be great, could be awful. Idk how you evaluate his level of competency aside from people who have been coached and played with him.

I will say the coaching pool is pretty small and not at all great. So if signs say JJ is a “front runner” for this job, says a lot.

  28. ImprovementSilly2895

Drafted JHS when they needed a win-now player. Now, hiring a less than rookie coach.

  29. iiivoted4kodos

    ~~Westbrook~~
    ~~Ham~~
    Pelinka

    It’s time

  30. He must he a fucking amazing interviewer. Let’s see if he can back up the talk when the season starts.

  31. lebronjames1024

Wow, Lakers are a broken franchise and will be back in the lottery soon as long as this ownership is here

  32. National-Draw-1416

Pelinka and the front office are ready to blame LeBron
