Celtics/Pacers Postgame, Brown, Tatum, Siakam, Holiday, Coaches Reactions | 2024 ECF, GM2
after a pretty good first quarter the beginning of the second quarter was um certainly changed the game a lot and they went on a big run it was 17 at one point um you know we bounced back decently got it to six at halftime um but uh the third was tough and uh you know losing losing tie for the game obviously is is a is a big blow go ahead somebody do you know any more on Tai right now or is it just left leg sa left hand string and do you have any sense on if he can return in this series time we’ll find we’ll probably we’ll know more tomorrow and then probably even more Saturday they had that Big Stretch like you already mentioned uh in the second and then again in the third after you guys cut it to two what did you see as maybe themes in those runs that got away from you guys in this one well the you know the bottom of the stat Sheet’s ugly it’s you know we lost the rebounds the second chance points were um we’re we’re a big factor um and you know turnovers once again were a big problem and so you know we got to we got to do better in those areas uh as far as Tai’s concerned is it an aggravation of the same injury or is it in in some way new it’s the left hamstring I believe that’s the same hamstring as before yes sir so it’s sore um yeah that’s that so I you know I I I don’t know I know there’s hipple laws and stuff like that but I I guess I could pretty safely say it’s you know it’s sore aggravated so okay I just I wasn’t sure I I know you want details I don’t have much I mean other than it’s sore okay gotcha um what you obviously had to shake up the lineup a little bit once he goes out I guess what you went kind of to the lower end of the bench about halfway through the fourth what made you to kind of decide to you know kind of go with that when it was I think 15 I think you were down 15 or something like that at the point what made you decide not to go back to the starters as much to look at some guys that um I thought needed a look you know McDermot U went in there and played well um you know Isaiah Jackson brought brought a lot of fight to the game um you know Jaylen Smith hasn’t had much of an opportunity to play in the playoffs and so you know I wanted to see where he was at and you know um we weren’t we weren’t giving up but it it was an opportunity to get some energetic fresh guys in there to fight you know and they did some they did some good things our are you know the guys that had played to that point you know Pascal was very tired you know Aaron had four fouls he was he was tired I mean so that was it with Tyrese did he come into tonight sore not to my knowledge okay and he um he also was dealing with a chest issue we well he got a rebound and Jaylen Brown I haven’t watched it again but Jaylen Brown looked like he almost went through him to get the ball and Tyrese hit the floor so he came back here and he had a couple tests done um with his chest and then you know he fortunately returned pretty quickly so yeah in a situation like that I mean you do have to think uh in long term right and both for the series and for that was a uh Tyrese’s injury early in the season that was pretty significant so well I mean I’m not sure what you’re asking um he was unable to return okay so it wasn’t like it was a coaching decision not to play him you know he just he was unable to return so we hope that you know this is a a very short-term aggravation um but again you know we we’ll know more tomorrow and then you know Saturday obviously you know the next game is coming quickly I did just have one more on on tie he seemed like he walked off when you subed him out like he didn’t see like he was limpic or anything did he come and say something after just what happened at least to your knowledge and that he aggravated it well he he was he was short halftime um he was getting worked on through the entire halftime um came out and you know gave it a gave it a a shot and you know was was given all the effort that he could um but I haven’t talked to him about it directly so I can’t you know read minds but it wasn’t it wasn’t going well so um the trainers determined that you know he needed to go to the back and get worked on and he was ruled out but unlike the chess it wasn’t a specific play that occurred like it wasn’t like an incident that sparked that injury just general soreness I don’t know I don’t know and I think we need to move on to another topic here sure um more otherwise go ahead um I was going to say with the the offensive rebounding go ahead um I say with the the offensive rebounding in that second quarter just what do you see from that I know that’s something that you guys struggled with in the Knick series as well I haven’t watched it yet um these guys spread you out a little differently than New York does and you know they’re they have great athletes so they beat us to some balls and you know we’ve got to we’ve got to flip that on Saturday night is the is the job that you did on Tatum for most of the game something to build off of and is it frustrating to to to do that kind of job and and and not have it be something that that you can consider part of could have been part of a win we got to try to make it as difficult on them as possible um we got to be physical persistent um we got to play our game we got have to have the right help at the right time if needed um we got to make these guys make difficult shots and we got to rebound the ball and you know they got got a lot of guys over there that score you know and so uh we were doing some good things during the game we just were were were not consistent enough and the in the beginning of the second quarter was a killer Rick you talked about that run it was 20 to nothing end the first to the second you dug yourself out of that hole but in doing so is that what you think led to some of the fatigue it was just a a daunting task to get back into it from that well it’s you know I I didn’t realize it was 20-0 but you know that’s that is a big hole I mean we had a two-point lead um at the end of the first quarter I liked our first quarter very much um and then you know they they they started playing great and we struggled and so um going to have to look at it to give you the exact answers on on all of it um you know when when we when we take a hit like that you know we’re a team that is is pretty resilient and and fights back and so so you getting it to six at halftime you know was a was a was positive in my mind we took a timeout I think with two minutes or two and a half did a good job to close the second quarter and then um you know third quarter continued to be difficult I mean you know we had some good stretches but they got a little more separation and it just got harder Angelo last one coach you haven’t lost in Grid Fieldhouse since March how will going home be a good reset for this team and have confidence that you can get two wins at home well in the New York series we were down 02 and came home and we’re able to um win game three and then you know move along and and do what we wanted to do um you know for us right now we we’ve got to concentrate on getting back as quickly as we can tonight um and preparing ourselves for our best possible effort on Saturday night and and I know that I know that our building will be as loud and live as it’s ever been you know it’s race weekend and and everything else going on and so we’ve got to um we got to take advantage of that it doesn’t guarantee anything but it will be a better environment for us than than playing here for sure thank you coach Joe how key were the details tonight particularly when it came to offensive rebounds forcing turnovers and defensive intensity yeah just the margins uh I thought the guys did a really good job uh you know trying to win those and you know first thing is obviously transition and uh it’s a three-step process keeping them out and you know I thought our transition defense was good uh really good kept him in the half court I thought our individual defense was good and I thought we were were able to get in driving lanes and get out to Shooters and uh they test our discipline they test our communication and I thought we handled it better in game two what’ you like about the way you closed in the fourth quarter obviously able to extend the lead and and keep their starters from re-entering uh just the you know our defensive execution stayed intact uh we gave up a few M rebounds but our offensive spacing shot selection was good just managed the game properly uh Jaylen obviously had a monster night um what did you see from him just makinging the right play uh Poise patience discipline uh you know proper actions getting into the right spacing and just picking and choosing his spots really well whether it was in transition or in half court so it just continues to get better and better takes a lot of pride in uh his ability to uh impact the game in different ways and I thought he did that tonight he only had two assists in the in the Box Score but it seemed like he was getting off the ball early when when his path was cut off it seemed like he was really moving the ball well on top top of the scoring yeah I mean again hopefully one day they’ll add a potential assist category uh or a hockey assist and uh but he made the right play it’s the most important thing Joe is there any update there any update on Luke’s status uh no I haven’t gotten one yet and with him out of the lineup you went small either with Jason or OA what did you was that the plan at some point to try that and if not what did you think of the way that looked yeah I mean it was a plan to just stay open-minded I knew every game was going to be different especially with the with these guys and their ability to just put pressure on you in different ways with their lineup so uh it was a it was a plan to get to something like that eventually uh you know so we were kind of forced into it um but I you know I thought it went well I think I like the speed I like the athleticism I like the spacing that we have so uh it presents strength and some uh weaknesses that we have to be ready for but uh I think the the open-mindedness throughout the year to play different ways kind of prepares us for situations like this Jack and Joe uh a lot of talk Drew and Dereck obviously made the all defensive team and then tonight they come out combined for 16 assists how much easier do they make life on the rest of the team on offense and then how important is it to have two guys who are as Elite as they are on defense be so impactful on offense as well yeah they’re just really good basketball players uh and they could they again those two guys you always talk about them they come into a game open-minded on how they get impacted in different ways sometimes it’s defense sometimes it’s pick and roll handling sometimes it’s screening sometimes it’s scoring sometimes it’s shot making and uh they just have the ability to impact the game in different ways on both ends of the floor uh their versatility is important for us Joe I I know you don’t care about the voting and the awards but Jaylen was left off the all-nba team meaning some people didn’t think he’s one of the top 15 players in the NBA how do you think things like that motivate him it seems like people talk more about what he can’t do than what he can do how do you see that motivating him and how have you how has he evolved as a player and as a yeah in maturity over the last two years You’ you’ve coached I mean jaylen’s just like you know one of my favorite people I think think how’s he handle that um I think he cares about it in a way that motivates him and I think he doesn’t really care about it at all because he understands that it’s not winning is the most important thing and so uh you know he has an innate ability uh to just get better to work hard motivation uh he has unreal confidence but he’s also not afraid to work on things that he knows he has to get better at and so um you see him every day and shoot around or in practice he’s out there with six seven coaches working on every possession every spacing imaginable so that he sees his reads and uh he just cares about the right stuff um but you know I obviously I think stuff like that does motivate him uh but I know he also really wants to win and he just he has a growth mindset wants to get better so uh I really enjoy coaching him and really watching him work Joe you’ve you talked about the chaos that Indiana’s style of play presents how did you feel like tonight your first your discipline offensively was able to help quell that and then how was just the defense’s ability to kind of read all those little micro decisions kind of smoo out yeah the first way to defend these guys is to attack them and you can’t defend them if you’re not playing disciplined offense because they get you in two-on-one three on twos four on threes crossmatched and then you know your communication and your your individual principles become harder so the first step to defending him is attacking them and then when you make it five on five they just test your communication and discipline I thought tonight we handled that a lot better thought tonight we handled our adjustments and our matchup execution better and I thought when you play in the chaos you have to embrace the chaos and so there’s going to be possessions where it is chaotic and you just have to be ready to handle it and I thought our guys did a good job of handling it with just multiple efforts Joe O’Shea was a plus 18 in about 12 minutes what did you see from him that made his minutes so impactful um just his presence his energy his athleticism uh just gave us you know he had I think he had a a dunk uh got a steal got a out and transition couple rebounds so just uh he plays with such a high level of uh intensity and energy uh it’s big for us Joe to take care of home court and go on the road a place where you’ve been success this postseason with a 2 lead what does that do for the confidence of the group um I don’t know I know we should only thing we should be thinking about is they were down 20 series ago and they brought the game seven and they do a great job protecting their home court they’re undefeated at home so it’s going to take a lot more than confidence to get the job done and uh we have to focus on the details and the execution and all the and the mindset the things that go into playing against a team like this at home and uh I know they’re going to respond and so it’s up to us to do the same thank you Joe thanks pasc what you feel like was so different for this in this game compared to game one for you guys they had a couple stretches that were really long and you guys couldn’t respond like you did and get one yeah no um obviously like you know they yeah I think I thought they played like they played a little bit better for more stretches than we did um you know they had a lot of good runs and we just we we was was getting there close but just quite not quite there um not a g wasn’t where was supposed to be and um yeah like I mean they have more rebounds like all everything like you know so they just played better than us like and um yeah we got to look ourselves in the mirror and and and move move on and and um think about it the next game Drew what did you think their defense was doing a little bit better tonight it felt like you guys struggled to get the shots you wanted at times in this game um I felt like it was a little bit maybe of a tighter paint they kind of tried to clog the pain a little bit more make us play more like they switch a lot they do a lot of switching on and off the ball so it kind of keeps the match ups the way they kind of want it but I think if we if we move the right way and play with pace and get stops I think I think it’s it’s not going to be a problem for us and if you guys don’t have Tai didn’t at times tonight what changes for you and what do you have to do better as a team I think we just need to continuously play with pace and move the ball and get to other actions I think we play well when we are kind of random and not just setting up certain C certain um kind of plays and certain kind of uh like ball screens or certain kind of sets and stuff yeah for both you guys either or um he had it down to 6866 um was that kind of a stretch where Tyrese makes you know put you guys back over the hump and you knew that he was not going to be there um what do you mean well I mean that’s when you guys are able to make your serious run and and it turns out Ty Reese isn’t you know he’s your later so um no I mean I think obviously we need Tai but at the end of the day you know it’s next up next man mentality um we we got to we got to be ready and and we got to you know play together um this this team got to where we at tonight I mean where we at today um it’s by you know having all of us um and and we all got to um stay together continue to play together um and obviously we want tyres back out there but I think you know obviously I don’t he wasn’t feeling well so it’s it’s on us to to continue to play and um you know bring that energy they obviously went small for a lot of this you know didn’t didn’t have a center in there used O’Shea uh a lot what how did that kind of just change the dynamic the degree to which they were just playing without a fiveman and and you know just keeping their um I don’t think it changed anything I think obviously I think like they did a lot of things better than we did um and and I don’t I mean we got to continue to attack and and do the things that we do um but we just didn’t do well enough to win tonight so um we got to take that and um that’s like I said move on to the next Pascal here in the back uh four games in seven days three different cities you had to dig out of that big hole what kind of toll did that take on you in that fourth quarter of all the energy it expanded not only tonight but throughout this week yeah it’s hard it’s playoffs baby you know that’s what that’s what you you know I think for me especially like you know last year I was sitting here watching this and being pissed you know and I wanted to be part of this so um it’s a blessing and no matter how tired you are like this is the the the state you want to be in um and you know there there’s no excuse for that or like whatever like we here um we want to compete at the highest level and and try to win and and you know we blessed to be playing at this at this time of the year obviously uh Tyrese went out of the game for good in the third quarter but it seemed like he wasn’t feeling well all night did did he convey to you guys that he wasn’t right and did you feel like you had to do a little more just seems like a tyes question he’s not up there you guys are yeah but yeah I think ties was was ready to go he was playing um and I think he got hurt you know and that’s that uh guys still undefeated at home in the playoffs uh still undefeated at home in the playoffs um you know what are you expecting the environment to be like this weekend and why have you guys been playing so much better uh at gamebridge um uh I think you know obviously uh being at home um our fans you know um they give us so much energy um you know like just just playing that I think obviously for me I’m experiencing now you know for the first times like the games is just so much more energy and and you know they’re so passionate about our team um and we just you know like just go out there trying to compete um to the best of our abilities and you know we can’t wait to see the fins out there um on Saturday and and and just see the energy that they’re going to bring um you know to support us which they’ve done all year um we’re just so excited I think but more more important than that just obviously losing losing sucks and and for us like once we lose we want to go back and um play better and um yeah like that’s the energy that we have going to the next game and we got to give everything you know we got to give everything that we have not only for us and for our team but for our fans fellas this is a battle of two of the top offenses in the NBA um what do you what do you guys say to people who criticize your defense and say that’s one of your weak points I think I think I I our defense got a lot better um and and I think obviously for me coming in at that time of the year and um I I can see the progress that the team has made um in you know everyone the commitment from the coaches from the players um and you know like we here for a reason you know like and and um we here because you know we did all the right things and we continue to do the right things and um and and I’m proud of our guys you know like obviously Drew big part of our defense Aaron um TI like making efforts um miles like it just go down the line you know guys are going better um and and that’s the that’s the reason why we here um and we’re going to continue to get better obviously tonight we we it was was it wasn’t the game that we wanted to be but we Rectify from the next game what you one quick follow what are you guys seeing from Tatum like it seems like he’s he’s doing everything but hitting three-point shots like you know uh what what’s it like you know going into him when you know his three-point shot isn’t falling I mean you know he’s a good player he can score from a lot of different places on the court you know he likes to get to the three off the dribble I think we we’ve done a good job of throwing different guys on them and making it tough on them um and we got to keep making them take tough shots Drew just going back to the being undefeated at home since March how do you use this as a reset and emphasize having confidence playing in the Fieldhouse and that this series isn’t over yet yeah I mean yall said it was a long road trip I think it would be nice for all of us to get home get our own beds and um we’re excited to play in front of our fans it’s going to be a big weekend with the the race in there so we can’t wait to get back in the home court back now but just want to talk a little about the end of the second quarter when you guys had already obviously fallen behind by a bunch I think you had the last 10 points and I think 12 of the last 14 you talked before about wanting to be the guy in those circumstances when maybe things aren’t working being a guy that can get get a bucket just what did you see and what worked out in that stretch um I think you know we got stops and we we started running a little bit and I think obviously you know it feels good when you know if you make a shout or whatever but I think just the the fact that we were just more aggressive we got stops we got rebounds um which we didn’t do for for good pass of the game um but I and again like I I told I think however we want to play as a team like I feel like I’m able to do that um and and if it’s you know playing fast I’m able to do that if it’s playing slow I’m able to do that as well so we just got to continue to play together um find ways to to again we can’t be out rebounded and things like that against a team like you know like they’re the best team in the league so um we got to get more possessions and um we got to fight for that we got to fight for everything last one on the right ask with with the way you guys could score and the way you guys have erased deficits before was it tough not to be out there in the last last few minutes of that game not trying to uh with with the starters trying to trying to cut into that no I mean I think we’ve our death is is is our depth is been it’s been like everything for us and and um that’s the way we play and again whoever is out there on the floor got to got to step up and we got to um we got to be together and try to do our best and um yeah like we just can’t wait you know it’s going to suck tonight we’re going you know losing and and I think we have the guys to understand you know how hard it is to win and and we know that we can bounce back and we’ve done it Al all year and um you know it’s time to dig deep and and and just go out there and compete at the highest level in front of our fans awesome thank you TJ did you notice that it’s something they changed defensively that made it harder for you guys to score did you feel like that was more on you guys tonight specifically um obviously they they made some adjustments but um you know the way we play um it’s on us too um certainly we have to look at the film and see um what went wrong and um I think it was a lot of a lot to do with spacing um you know they they did a good job switching and um you know it was you know just a tough second half so we just got to watch the film and see what we can do better yeah had a 120 run and a 13 run in the first game 20 tonight across two different quarters what why is that something that’s happened so much in the series to you I mean they have a lot of Firepower um but you know we just have to combat Those runs and you know I thought we made runs of our own tonight um and you know kind of weathered the storm so um showed maturity in that end but um kind of have to like I said watch the film and see how we can minimize the runs you mentioned adjustments they obviously went to a smaller lineup you saw a bunch of you know O’Shea tonight what uh how does that just change what they can do how do you feel like that changed the dynamic in general the that they weren’t playing a five after a certain point yeah I mean you got to give credit where credits du um O’Shea came in and really sat down and defended really well and um just brought a diff different Dynamic to their team they were able to switch one through five and um he came in and really changed the game defensively for them so um you know obviously a friend of mine and um you know happy for him and um but you know it’s something that we’ve seen many times teams go one through five we just have to be a lot better TJ in the back here I know you guys won’t make excuses but uh four games in a s-day stretch three different cities how nice will it be to get back home and what kind of toll does that take on a player a a weekl long stretch like that it’s part of the job um obviously difficult but you know there’s no excuse here um you know we just we have to be better and and obviously excited to get home you know obviously down2 is is something that um you know we have seen before um especially in in the last series and going back home playing in front of our crowd who we haven’t lost at home yet in the playoffs um we’re really excited to get back into our building and play in front of our fans just what what has it been about playing at home that you guys have felt like you had some success and and uh just how do you sort of mindset getting back to the series like you said you did it last last round falling down two up yeah um our fan base is incredible um truly incredible I don’t I really don’t know how else to put it when when we play at home it is a really great it’s an amazing environment and a tough place to play for the other team and um you know that has been proven by the way we’ve played in the playoffs and especially all year so um you know just a ton of credit to our fan base and excited to get back in front of them uh when you see Hal Burton guess just not come back in the game uh for you guys how do you sort of go on play without him and just in general your your mindset when he’s sort of the status of his is unclear going forward yeah I mean when you know your franchise guy goes down obviously it’s tough but um that’s a time for this group who has done it this year for everyone to step up and take a bigger role um and we’ve done a good job of that when when he has been out and obviously it it hurts when he goes down but um you know one of those things where it’s the next man up mental and obviously we’ll see we haven’t heard anything about him yet but you guys just have to step up and be ready to piggy back on that quick like you said you’ve had this situation before you played 10 games without him earlier this year what’s the most important things you guys have to do on a strategic level just to to do well when you don’t have him in the lineup you know he does so many things for our team where I think everyone just has to you know move the ball more and get in the paint more and um you know the ball Movement Like I said just has to be at another level um he gets what 10 assists in his sleep so um you know it’s hard for another person on our team to replicate that so it’s a group it’s a group effort um when he goes down to kind of get people the ball and get it moving right thanks TJ what I think the team improved most from from game uh one what did you like the most um I think our transition defense um I think I think our offensive rebounding rebounding in general we did a pretty good job um and then I think just pressuring the ball and um trying our best not to give them easy looks at three and um I mean tough twos tough thing tough uh paint finishes so I think all around we elevated our game a little bit 40 points for JB obviously heroics the end of game one in this postseason in a whole obviously he’s he’s raised his level what have you seen from him and how motivated do you feel he is at this point I mean he has it going and and y’all see what I see uh great player great leader but wants to win and takes things into his own hand so having a guy like that on my side I I love it um I I’ll ride for him and whatever I can do to obviously uh get that win is is needed but the way JB’s been playing man is is outstanding Drew defensively things seem to really shift when you went Tatum at the five O’Shea at the four or what did you see from that lineup that worked bit of a smaller lineup but very athletic um I think that we were just kind of scrambling for each other and playing off each other uh we don’t they like to get into the paint and kind of make a typ of plays in there but um I think because we’re long and athletic we can uh take some of those things away and and really just try to speed them up up as much as possible the word chaos chaotic has been used a lot in the past couple days to describe them is there an element of kind kind of returning that chaos with that smaller lineup does that kind of negate it somehow uh sure I mean I guess chaos with chaos right um I think that we just like them I think they do a great job of having uh seems like Controlled Chaos um the way that they play they they move the ball uh they move bodies and uh they play fast but we can also do that um we can go small we can go big we can play fast we can slow down and and execute but uh I think adding no out there was just a different element where I mean all five guys just if we were switching or if we’re staying with our man we’re capable of doing so many different things Drew uh you and Derek combined for 16 assists and 14 to 22 shooting Joe was talking about how you guys have been so open-minded to doing anything offensively that the team needs how do you feel like you’ve embraced that role on this team as a back court with Derek in sort of like taking the pressure off of Jaylen Jason the scoring Department if you need to screening uh playmaking like how do you feel like you’ve embraced that do anything real on offense yeah um shoot utility guys guys that will do anything to win and feel like that’s kind of what is important um it’s not necessarily um getting your stats or seeing what it looks like but doing whatever it takes to win and Derrick’s done a great job this whole season um um of just uh setting up the offense I’m getting us to the things we need I mean he talks to me so much telling me where to go what to do so as a point guard Derrick’s been Derrick’s been great and leading our team Drew o was a plus 18 tonight just over 12 minutes what made his time so impactful and how rewarding is it to see players like him that really haven’t seen many minutes of postseason perform like that yeah no I’m happy to see that um and he stays ready uh he hasn’t seen many minutes this postseason um probably didn’t play as much as he wanted to during the regular season but I just think uh that’s a part of sacrifice and and him staying ready um him staying ready I know it’s tough because uh you’re not really getting like game reps like that but the way he came out and played and I think like the first two minutes had two rebounds and great stops just really excited and glad for uh to see him do that cuz I mean for one is a confidence booster and two it’s against his own team his old team so Drew were you were you surprised at all that they went to the um like third string with five minutes left and it’s still like 14 15 point game and in that situation what’s kind of the key to ensuring there’s no let up in the game isn’t over on your end yeah uh just to continue to lock in um we know that these guys that are coming off the bench if it’s second or third string um this is their chance to make anything happen uh and we know just the first unit of the first and second unit of indd they’re going to play hard but these guys are going to play play even harder so um we know on the big stage um anything can happen and and guys can make plays and we really just wanted to set the tone especially toward the end of the game and and uh or control the game toward the end of the game thank you drew all right questions for Jas Jason a lot of the uh momentum seemed to shift when you moved over to the five and OA came in played played the four what did you see from those lineups that that worked yeah I think it allowed us to play a little bit faster um and you know each game presents different challenges or um you know we we always talk about we just have to be open to to different things and you know whenever your number is called or whatever you’re asked to do um just be ready to do it I mean we’ve talked about this a little bit before obviously you’re a big guy but playing the five is different responsibilities maybe a little bit of a different toll in your body what what is that like for you shifting into that position uh I mean we got defensive principles that you know we just we follow uh and it’s just about being connected communicating and playing hard essentially and then uh you know going up and get try to get a rebound Jason OA was a plus 18 tonight what did you see from him that made him so impactful and how rewarding is it to see a guy that really hasn’t seen many minutes this postseason take off like that oh it was great you know just the energy that he came in with on both ends um just finding a way to impact the game and like you said we see the Stay Ready group guys work and and show up for us every single day uh so you know I love when they when they’re able to get their number called and uh get an opportunity to help us win a game Jason did you speak with Jaylen before the game about being snubbed from the all NBA teams and if so how do you think it impacted him and tonight uh no we didn’t talk about that today uh you know dur shoot around we just focus on winning the game tonight um you know we all felt like internally that he should have you know made one all NBA teams uh so it was a shame to see that that he didn’t Jason 40 points for for jayen tonight after his heroics in in game one what have you seen from him throughout the course of this postseason how has his game evolved in your view uh I think you know the game is Just slowing down for him more and more uh finding ways to to be effective uh still while making the right play and uh you know just just being himself um you know when we need him to Jason how pleased are you to get out of here up two games to none heading to Indie for game three has what what you guys were able to accomplish here yeah I mean winning is hard winning in the playoffs is is is is tough as it never goes I guess how you expect it to uh you know each game is is is different in his own right uh it did feel good to finally win a game too especially at home so uh but we understand that New York was up 20 and it ended up losing that Series so uh you know far from relaxed but uh you know you you take a win whenever you get it they they play on offense with a lot of chaos that’s a word that’s been used a lot how did you feel tonight you guys have kind of been able to slow down and see through the chaos I mean it’s tough they they put a lot of pressure on you even the guys that come off the bench they play with a lot of freedom a lot of pace um they do a good job of space in the floor uh so you just got to connect to them connect to bodies you can’t let them run around without getting touched essentially uh cuz then it makes it extremely tough to do throughout the season you jump in and out of 14 and 15 coverage all the time changing coverages so much throughout the season does it make it easier to adapt to how much you have to change with this team uh I mean short answer would be yeah we just practice it so much throughout the season that uh and that’s why we do it throughout the regular season um just so you know when it comes to playoff time there not a lot of confusion Jason how important is jaylen’s voice obviously his play has been big but his voice you know becoming more vocal I know you know in one of the games you struggled early in the playoffs he was like Jason found his rhythm we got see him find his rhythm even more has he kind of been in your ear for a while this playoff run motivating you and pushing you like what’s what’s this voice been like for you and the team yeah I think uh it’s important for every guy um in that locker room to to speak up right we all respect each other uh and that comes from trust we we see the work that everybody puts in every single day and the growth from you know whenever your first year here was until now um the growth and development of of every single guy and we have that environment where um you know everybody has a voice from the the top guy to you know the last man on the bench right we all in this together um you need to encourage somebody do so if you see something that we’re doing wrong you you know she her job to speak up and how does that help you when a guy like him does try to motivate you or anybody on the team really like you say uh it’s just like having 15 brothers or so right we all um spend so much time together um we we trying to accomplish something special so we uh we are all in this together last question to Abby you mentioned JB but what does it mean to you to make the all NBA team and third straight year how gratifying is that after all the work that you put in uh I mean it it’s special it’s something I uh you know I I strive to to do that I expect uh but it’s nothing I take for granted um it’s an honor to be on First Team all NBA uh you know so many talented guys in this league um you know the talent just gets better and better each and every year so very fortunate to to make that team again um you know I’m thankful thank thank f for everybody that has helped me along the way uh you know success is not something that you can achieve by yourself so uh you know it’s a lot of people that deserve credit and helping me get to um where I’m at Jason Jaylen obviously um 40o night um were you seeing out there and one of the things that um Joe and and Jason were talking about is your ability to make the right play while you’re over there dropping 40 so what what were you seeing on the floor um just being aggressive um wanting to get out and transition and run um but he wanted to attack the smaller guards put pressure on them um get to the basket get to the free throw line was there any U motivation for you um after hearing that you didn’t make an all team no I would to say that what would you say I mean we two games from the from the finals so you know honestly I don’t got the time to give a you felt like there was a lot of room for improvement after game one what did you guys do better tonight I think we fought I think we fought from the beginning to end um we fought better in this game and I think that was the majority had some guys go down um and still some stuff we can clean up but I think we fought so um that was the most important thing Jaylen uh over here to be right just how good was it to get out of here up two games to none defend your home court now heading out there for game three yeah it’s great especially around this time of the year take advantage of home court and that’s what we worked all season 4 um during the regular season being the number one seed so being able to take care of business here at home um now let’s go still one on a row or two jayen third quarter there’s a play where you get the ball to a shay under the basket he gets the dunk Indianapolis calls Indiana calls timeout and all you guys play to the crowd but you seem to be particularly demonstrative at that point you looked up to the balcony you had hands up um what’s going on right around that time I mean it’s the playoffs you know uh it’s the best time of the year um and we need uh we need the fans to to bring that energy cuz we feed off it Jaylen you guys um went to some smaller lineups today probably because Luke was out but Joe hit said he wanted to try him anyway what kind of dynamic do you think that brought in this game and how it help you I couldn’t hear you said time the going small a little bit smaller lineups yeah we haven’t done that too much all year um that was a new look for us but um I thought that we won those minutes you know O’Shea came in X came in um and we were able to to still rebound and get out and run so uh I think the key in that group is rebounding um but that also allows us to play Fast um to match their speed a little bit better and get matched up in transition we just got to keep these guys in front of us um which is hard to do when they just you know they’re getting the ball taking the ball at the net and just pushing it up the floor um but I thought those guys O’Shea and uh X had uh in their minutes haded Great Value and were you were you surprised at all that they went like third string deep bench with like five six minutes left it’s still a 1450 point game and how did you kind of you know maintain your guys level when that happens yeah um it was a little surprising I don’t know what the um the reasoning behind that was but you know we focused on winning the game so um I think that’s what our Focus was but um yeah that definitely was a little weird last question personally jayen you were so intentional about what you wanted to accomplish in this postseason the work you put in being more efficient and kind of projecting what you wanted to accomplish seeing it happen now having games like this and the postseason in totality what do that meant given how intentional you were about what you wanted to accomplish uh I mean it’s a blessing to step out on the floor each and every night I’ll don’t take that for granted um so I keep that in perspective regardless of you know what’s being said or whatever the narrative or the discourse is around me I just come out and try to add value on both sides of the floor and I feel like you know at when when it comes to that there’s not a lot of people better in this league so I just come out and take it one game at a time and right now we uh we got two home games and we look for the next one Jaylen you’re I mean people have talked discussed about some maybe some of the things you have not been able to do as opposed to things you can do do you feel like you’re overlooked slided underrated and does that motivate you does that piss you off privately when you’re working out like you know do you you see what’s written about you you see what’s said about you and you you you keep a low profile off the floor but what how does that motivate you or push you I mean I watch guys get praised and anointed I feel like it’s half as talented as me on either side of the ball um but at this point in my life I just embrace it you know it comes with being who I am and what I stand for and I ain’t really changing that um so I just come out and I’m grateful to step out on the floor each and every night and put my best foot forward I get better every single year and whe the people appreciate it and not it is what it is thank you

Dear pacers … you aren’t playing the knicks … so what you did last round coming back from 0-2 don’t matter
Jrue finna get 2 rings before giannis 😂
Knicks fans are smiling
The Celtics just need to steel one if not both in indi, and it's a wrap, ☘️💪💥
Am I crazy for saying Pacers in 6 or 7? 😂 Siakam won’t go down easy. Come back to this 🔥
Stay humble Jaylen, you’re appreciated.
Game 1 so devastating. This why must come to the ball hard. Now injuries but cant hv turner guarded by tatum, just disrespect
Investigate Rick Carlisle.
"We're 2 games from the final. Honestly I dont have time to give a fuck!"

TIRED PLAYERS ARE YOU KIDDING ME
Eastern conference playoffs are a foregone conclusion. Pacers have zero shot. Nor did the Cavs or poodle Heat. Those teams front offices are clueless
Yes Rick Carlisle should be fired
Easiest road to the finals the celtics ever had
My man said honestly idgaf
Talk is cheap. Pacers' performance was weak and poor

Reporters without brains
Good game Pascal!
Jayson Tatum is SOOO salty Jaylen is showing him up AGAIN in the playoffs. dude has no personality. the only emotions he knows how to express are apathy & jealousy.
This is a no contest finals. It's a boring series. Wait for another season. NBA is sucks now. the 80s and 90s are still the best.
Nobody cares about this series. Can't we just skip to the finals?
Let's get this ring
Go Celtics! 💪
Can't believe JB didn't get into All NBA team…..Mental!!!!!!!
Payton owns u TJ
I love how Aaron Neesmith is straight tackling dudes all over the court, but Rick Carlisle has the balls to say Jaylen Brown ran through somebody
Cut the bullshit coach you had horrible game management and game one and your team is not mature enough for this moment. It is what it is.

Love you JB, You will always be you, and there is no better way to be 💚
You don’t need accolades to prove how amazing you are anyone with eyes can clearly see you are one of the best players, and they just snubbed you so it doesn’t matter, you keep showing them how amazing you are!
For all you people, I have only one thing to say.
Larry Bird, he was a tough man. He is an example of Indiana’s knowledge and love of baseball.
Tough people NEVER GIVE UP. I have loved the Celtics for a long time. I wish you the best. But… not in the heat of the Battle.👍
JB > Tatum
The energy of this whole post game interview is off. We all saw the fix we saw the end of the bench in the whole 4th we saw Siakam who was unstoppable get subbed out. Then Turner doesn’t even play in the 4th. I get it but just make it less noticeable
Leg soreness!? Are you serious lol it’s the playoffs…win or go home
