I can’t read the article because the pay wall, but here is my guess for what’s actually going on:
1) JA did not have a broken rib, and the Cavs were hoping he would take an injection and try to tough it out
2) the Cavs continued to mark him as questionable because of a) gamesmanship and b) in the hope that he would make the decision at some point to take the injection and tough it out
3) there were at least some Cavs players, coaches, and front office members who were frustrated with Allen’s decision to not get the injection and for not trying to play through pain and leak stating this after the Boston series was legitimate
4) The Cavs front office now has to dispute that leak and come to Allen’s defense (Koby calling it a “pieced Rib” which isn’t a real injury) because a) it’s bad for his trade value b) for the sake of the relationship in case a trade they like doesn’t materialize c) they don’t want to give the impression that they’re dumping on their own player b/c it’s a bad look to other players in the league
5) the Cavs are planning and want to trade Allen this offseason in part because of the fit with Mobley but also at some level because of his decision to not try to play through the pain

The article basically has Morris’ quote that we’ve all seen by now, said Allen’s timeline for recovery was actually months, not weeks and that Altman said “it’s impossible for him to play through what he was playing through.”

Chris and also Fear the Fro tried to paint Morris Sr in a kind of shitty light for those comments and having listened to that entire interview I dont think he was coming off that way at all. Morris has impressed me a lot with this short time at Cleveland.
