See… I don’t know what exactly happened to the nuggets to be so… atypical since the Spurs game. But I actually entirely suspected the wolves would get wiped (by OKC too if OKC made it).
Ever since game 2, there was a clear undeniable formula. (As an aside… never spot somebody 2 games if you haven’t gotten the screwing around out of your system of course). If we merely scored the simple 2 at a halfway standard clip, the lead would keep growing and growing. Because the wolves actually aren’t good at offense outside of transition set up by defense. 3 games in a row, wolves absolutely no problem.
Then… we deadpan imitate last year’s Celtics team on a bad day. Clang 3s endlessly, as though completely lost unless a 3 finally went down. Now mind you… little of the awfulness was actually contested either. Lost badly.
Surely we won’t do that again… and nope, crushing them easily game 7. Until we started clanging (wildly uncontested) 3s again. 3 points in 10 minutes. For some odd reason, conventional pundits try to say it was wolves defense. Like yeah of course… 3 points in ten minutes would have been impressive. But it was 90% uncontested clangers for no damn reason.
I dunno, I could only draw 2 conclusions from that series. 1. Wolves are definitely better than the Lakers, who still could only win a game against the weird ghost-of- themselves nuggets. 2. I feel like the wolves would get wiped by whomever they face who is hungrier than this ghost team. Like… during the entire comeback where they “stormed back” all the way to end of game… wolves shot 41% in that stretch. 41%!! Worship the D all you want to, but the signs were there it was like 85% about the Nuggets all along.
So anyway… I’m not terribly surprised at all. But of course it’ll be called outrageously shocking the Mavs are up 2-0 I’m sure.

Was watching the game and what a great game all around and comeback win for Mavs, something that I wish the Nugs could’ve pulled off.
I was kinda rooting for Minnesota to win so that we can say that we lost to the champs but I think this situation is better haha.
