That’s unfortunate. 11 days until Game 1 of the NBA Finals. It’d suck if Porzingis’s first game back is an NBA Finals game because how will he be able to regain his form and chemistry. You don’t really want to disrupt the rhythm. But he’s a necessary piece against either of those teams. Hopefully he’s good by game 1 with enough time to get conditioned in between.

We’d absolutely need Porzingis to stretch out the rim protectors of Gobert or Gafford/Lively. We’ll also need his rim protection against the lethal lob weapons that the Mavs have or the rim pressure that Ant provides.

Slightly surprised about Porzingis, but I also get it. We’ve won 6 straight overall and are 3-0 in the series, so I’m alright with keeping him for title or bust.

If it goes back to Boston I’d  be interested to see if he does finally get the QUESTIONABLE label then.

Makes sense even tho I hoped to see him back. Woulda been nice to knock the rust off but eh not mad at it. Hopefully he can get some good practice in for the 10 days off

  5. bryscoon

ok now it’s a concern but if we got some time before the finals hopefully he can make it back

If we lose in the finals because KP isn’t healthy, that’s going to be devastating. All the warnings come true in the worst way.

People before this series: there’s no reason to bring back KP at all this series if we go up 3-0 and don’t need him

People now: KP not coming back for Game 4 when we’re up 3-0 means he’s out for the Finals

Don’t act shocked if zingus isn’t ready for the finals. Celtics are underplaying this injury

  9. JoJonesy

i am once again worried about Porzingis’ timeline

also i hope jrue’s ok. figured it was just a stomach bug or something, but if it’s still a concern that’s pretty rough

  10. doflamingo34

If KP does come back he should come off the bench for the rest of the playoff run

  11. We obviously have no idea if KP will be healthy for the Finals. The fact that he’s been ruled out on every initial injury report makes it seem like he’s not particularly close. The Finals are 11 days away so he still has time to recover, but he’s also not been practicing and you kind of wonder what level his conditioning and game sharpness will be at.

I know there’s been no indication of it, but at this point I’m not expecting to see him on the court for the rest of the season. Purely based on the amount of time he’s been out already, not practicing with the team, no improvement updates. This isn’t some secret or some “gamesmanship” type of thing to keep opposing teams from finding out info. This dudes been out a pretty damn long time already. It’s a shame cause he really hasn’t been this hurt all season and right when the playoffs come he goes out with an injury.

If we take care of business on Monday, that gives us another 10 days of rest and practice before the Finals kick off on June 6th. I’m not too worried about KP at the moment, but if we get to Game 1 and he’s still on the report then obviously it’s going to be concerning. I’m kind of confused why reports came out speculating he could be ready for Game 4 of this series, there’s no evidence of him doing anything beyond shooting work at this point.

Ugh I think porzingis will be back by finals to some extent maybe not game 1 but feels like there was some sort of setback

  15. I_Set_3_Alarms

Porzingis playing in the NBA Finals without ever playing in a second round or conference finals series would actually be wild

  16. captaincumsock69

I don’t see how anyone could think KP is close to a return with what we have known

  17. 1. As far as I know, nobody in the Celtics organization, confirmed the report of a possible return in game 4. It’s possible that they have been aiming for the finals all along.

    OR

    2. The Celts know that the series is over, but it would seem arrogant and disrespectful to some to make it obvious that they decided not to risk a re-injury because they don’t need him to beat the Pacers, so they declared him out early on to preempt any speculation that game 3 changed their strategy..

    OR

    3. His recovery hit a speed bump or plateau over the past week and his availability for the finals is legitimately in doubt.

Option 3 would obviously be brutal.

  18. iAm-Tyson

Fuck if we don’t have KP for the finals we’re so cooked.

I hate the misdirection, Joe is making it sound like he can’t play at all, there’s no footage of him walking or shooting lately, and he hasn’t commented shit.
It seems like there’s a setback but there’s no real confirmation from anyone.

He’s probably out for the playoffs guys. If we draw Minnisota I have no clue how we can stop that 3 headed monster they have for bigs, if it’s Dallas im confident that Al can baby Gafford and Lively.

  19. Mikeyseventyfive

A couple of weeks ago we saw him limping around at practice. He’s now seem to be walking better whether he can undergo game level intensity is another thing altogether

  20. Starting to look like the next time Porzingis is on the court for us will be in October

  21. AmbitionExtension184

Fuck that sucks. Surely he’d be playing limited minutes in this meaningless game if he was anywhere close to ready.

  22. I’d have liked seeing KP for five minutes, even at half speed, just to get him into a game. That said, rest up and get ready for the Finals. KP revenge series incoming.

  23. PumpPie73

Porzingis needs to suck it up for the finals. This is the reason they traded for him. It’s a strain ad unless he could tear his muscle shoot it up and get out there

  24. TimmyTimeify

I wonder what the Woj comments were about then! Is this a smoke screen for the West now that the Pacers series looks like a wrap in 4 or 5, or is this actually concerning?

  25. KP still being out and not even stepping on the court for real work scares me… I really hope he’s ready in 10 days for the finals (assuming we make it)

  26. Ambitious-Fig-9106

Damn, if KP is out for the finals we need Al to dip into that fountain of youth for us one last time
