Luka says he leans on Kyrie’s experience in the post season.
Luka shared to him with a few minutes left in the game, “I’m tired..” and Kyrie responded, “you’re supposed to be”.
It looks like Kyrie’s championship pedigree has influenced these Mavs in many ways. Watching them in the fourth quarter today was special.
Definitely a big difference from the Wolves, and you have to wonder what Joe Tsai was thinking giving Kyrie away basically for free.

I mean at this point Luka has a shitload of experience in the post season of his own, dude has been balling in the post season every year for years it feels like. Nice to see Kyrie is given his props tho
[Jones] Ant says he leans on KAT’s experience in the post season. Ant shared to him with a few minutes left in the game, “I’m scared..” and KAT responded, “you’re supposed to be”.
OMG, the bromance is peak level.
nice to see kyrie becoming the father figure
but r/nba said Kyrie is a toxic locker room presence
[Jones] Zion Williamson says he leans on Kelvin Benjamin’s experience in the buffet line. Zion shared to him with a few plates left on the table, “I’m full…” and Kelvin responded, “you’re supposed to be”.
Trading for Kyrie is the best thing to happen for Luka. Dude finally got a mentor near his level on the court, instead of an end of the bench guy.
well tbh one factor that Mavs has on winning this series is not just because they have Luka or Kyrie’s skill set but also the experience the champion mindset Kyrie had and its a big advantage to have that I think 🙂 props for Mavs whole crew they have been great this whole series <3
Kyrie is leading this team from an experience standpoint while still falling into place seamlessly as #2. At what point do you start talking about the all time significance of this trade?
~~Uncle Drew~~ Mentor Drew
The nets were title contenders before trading Kyrie. If the pandemic didn’t happen, if Harden didn’t get injured and if KD didn’t have his foot on the 3 point line, they would have one or two rings. Literally everything that should not have gone wrong for the Nets happened.
It would have never worked for Brooklyn as Kyrie caused so much drama over there. Kyrie is focused on ball in Dallas. This version of Kyrie would have never materialised in Brooklyn. Boston had stability but it also didn’t work out. Kyrie coming in to Dallas knew his role.
Luka “Kelvin Benjamin” Doncic: “I’m full from rolling up to Culvers before the game”
Kyrie: “You’re supposed to be”
I just realized it’s Kyrie and Boston again, this should be a fun series
It ain’t even about Kyrie’s championship pedigree. He makes shots. Kyrie and Luka make shots. That’s the difference.
Fsther era Kyrie just dropped
He had to. He said he wasn’t going to play for them and Durant trade was already completed
Even though Kyrie has done some questionable stuff in-between it’s pretty cool to see him go from Lebron’s mentee in Cleveland learning how to win in the playoffs to Luka’s mentor in Dallas showing him how to win in the playoffs
Everyone talking about Kyrie is leaving out a lot of context too that Kyrie himself provides, he has spoken a lot about how he’s matured and grown, it’s not like he’s the same guy now who left the Cavs or the same guy they got in Boston
Do you have to wonder why the Mavs got Kyrie for “almost free” though?! Nobody wanted to touch Kyrie. D trade by everyone. Now yall want to come around with the revisionist history lol
Experience in the postseason matters so much. Kyrie has done all of this, he’s a terrific leader for the Mavs right now. Wolves don’t have anyone on the roster who has been this far and the inexperience is showing.
Devin Booker says he leans on Kevin Durants experience smoking weed before playoff games. Devin shared to him before game 3 of 1st round of western conference against the timberwolves “I’m too high” and Kevin responded “I haven’t spoken to Frank in months.”
Earth so flat in Dallas it made Kyrie normal again.
The nets fully fumbled the bag with Kyrie LMAO joe Tsai is a clown 🤣🤣
That’s keeping it real. Sometimes words of encouragement are worthless, sometimes you just need that cold hard truth to remind you that you’re right where you need to be.
Kyrie finally found his role. The father figure for Luka.
“What type of parental role has Kyrie played for you and your teammates?”
I’m ready for the buddy cop movie.
He was thinking “this dude’s a lunatic. Get him away from me team.” How was he supposed to know Kyrie would have zero incidents going forward?
Hopefully he can push through it to win a championship.
One thing I can see is they either have some connection where the moment Luka isn’t controlling the game for some time due to him being tired or whatever it is, Kyrie immediately takes control. Additionally, you can see them talking in game as well.
It’s insane what they’ve done. This connection is purely gold.
From looking like a mistake the year the trade happened to this
the magical sercret to giving your opinion just win and everyone forgets. but once you start to lose again those comments come back xD. glad kyrie is doing great.
Kyrie in Dallas and Kyrie in New York seem like completely different people
If Kyrie wins another chip, it would look so bad for KD
Luka:”I am absolutely blessed that I am not circumcised or Kyrie would’ve probably sat out these Playoffs.”
Are we witnessing the ascension of Luka or the redemption of kyrie?
Kyrie is essentially playing the role he did in Cleveland as LeBrons sidekick. It’s showing his growth as a player when he left Cleveland he wanted to prove he was the alpha and that’s why it ultimately didn’t work in Boston.
In Dallas he learned it’s okay to let Luka be the guy because I can be that guy too when I need to be.
Bought in Kyrie is a beautiful thing to watch.
I’ve said this whole series that the difference between the Mavs and Wolves is that the Mavs have (1) two of the best closers and 1 on 1 players in the NBA and, more importantly, (2) guys that have been to this stage.
Luka has been to a WCFA before, but Kyrie has been to the conference finals and the finals multiple times. His experience and leadership is invaluable, especially when each game has been decided with less than 3 minutes to go.
It’s been great watching both of them, even at the expense of the success of the team I root for.
