Sam Presti on the Gordon Hayward trade: “I missed on that. That’s on me. But I’m learning. Trying to learn this team… Just trying to be a great observer of this team as it’s going through its paces… I don’t think I read that one perfect.”

What I love about Sam is he doesn’t try to sugarcoat things, just speaks his mind and you can tell he’s evaluating his decisions at all points
I haven’t really heard a GM admitting bad trades so soon. Good to hear honestly. It’s about making use of the cap space now.
Yeh same knows he has Ls. Atleast he’s willing to swing. Anyways looks like we have some money to use.
Lots of talk about going for outside acquisitions too
Yeah I’ll take one L for every 50 Ws. Keep doing your thing, Sam.
Translation: I didn’t realize he’d be a little bitch
Respect, atleast he’s not sitting here like the ravenous fan base trying to gas light us about the cap space being worth it.
Almost everyone knew this was a rough trade and yet the fan base would tear your apart for criticizing presti here a few short weeks ago. Presti himself is taking the blame for it now.
Presti is truly a great president for the team
Imagine reading this as Gordon Hayward
Gordon: “I don’t feel like I was given a chance to show what I can do…”
Sam: “YEAH I REALLY FUCKED UP BRINGING THAT PIECE OF SHIT IN I APOLOGIZE FOR EVERYONE HAVING TO DEAL WITH HIS BULLSHIT”
Love it
Acknowledging that he punted what could have been a probable finals trip is all we can ask for. It was a miss, it hurts that it was such a huge miss, but he is admitting he needs to learn from it. I think we all have 100% trust that he will.
It seems Gordon’s dumb ass comments inspired presti to clap back lol
Thing is he would’ve cracked the starting lineup in the playoffs and have more playing time probably if he played like he wanted to be here, instead of passing up open shots/layups and not taking shots at all..
it was apparent he was never intending to take a single shot unless it was extremely wide open (and he still passed someof those up), and just stick to rebound.
If he played like even half the player he was in the hornets he wouldve been in the starting lineup/ gotten more minutes…
46 playoff minutes is not enough to “showcase your skills” thats a whole ass game to do ANYTHING and he still went for 0 ( i dont even think he took a shot attempt…. Im so pissed at Gordon fuck….
I appreciate the accountability of Presti, to acknowledge a move was a mistake in hindsight instead of doubling down. That’s an admirable trait.
Unfortunately, that was to me a top 3 reason we didn’t beat the Mavs. If Giddey was to struggle to shoot, it was expected that at least Hayward would be a positive contributor as a longtime veteran on the team. He didn’t even get a point in the playoffs. That’s a killer any day.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that Gordon doesn’t come back next fall.
Sam cleared like $30m+ on that trade. If Gordon played well then that’s just a bonus.
I’m not a thunder fan so can someone please explain why this pairing didn’t work?
I know that leg injury robbed Hayward of a lot of athleticism but it’s not like he fell off a cliff as a player.
When I heard about the trade it seemed like a win-win and the sort of move that could tip the scales for a championship contender.
idk guys, I’m starting to think that we probably won’t bring Hayward back next season… maybe.
Sam we good fam
Well Gordon is definitely gone after that statement
46 playoff minutes this season, 0 playoff points
Great accountability from Sam. No one is perfect and I wish the fans still appreciate him without treating him like a god.
I can appreciate a leader admitting to a mistake.
