I’ll take the downvotes. This would be a great trade for the thunder. Cason is fantastic, but the Thunder need elite scoring and floor spacing at the WCF level. Mitchell does that – he’s had some of the best playoff performances from a 2 guard in recent years. He has gravity and finishing ability inside that would flourish in the thunder’s 5 out system.
Starters: Shai/Mitchell/Dort/Dub/Chet
To me that’s a significant improvement on Cason/Giddey and the only potentially valuable pick you give up is the Jazz next year. And I do recognize there’s significant risk there. I just think Mitchell is a very special player and I can’t think of a better fit to pair with Shai in the backcourt.
