Hot Takes or Toast: The Jazz reportedly are interested in trading both first-round picks for a wi…
what’s with these my girl they got what if we ever do this [Music] that TJ PK hot takes of toast brought to by s freeden Jensen with 30 years of serving Utah the Jazz reportedly interested in trading both first round picks a win now player is this a good [Music] move the reaction on our Facebook page a little bitter PK a little bitter or better jit bitter b t t r Jason I wish we had a four-time defensive player of the year who wanted to play in Utah not happy with a gobear trade Furious huh Elden throw in all you can eat Jay dogs for your and maybe they can pull it off that’s a lot of Jay dogs but it could help you in training because Kobe ASI did retire and that’s coming up here in July so maybe next year you could be the new Kobe AI the king is abdicated the throne is open right Coney Island let’s go big Coney Island guy in your jersey days no no that is uh a bridge too far too far to travel you would go past 177 places where you could stop right there we didn’t have the money to pay for gas like you guys did there it is false information Ryan says quit reporting it before you get blocked hey it’s not true look at the polls Jack it’s been out there I mean the man himself Danny r said we’re going big game hunting so this is a logical conclusion so how’s that false reporting Mark does point that out it would make sense considering the team is big game hunting right exactly this goes in line with what was said was it April early May whenever it was that this is their philosophy and this is what they’re doing I think it’s great news do you want to lose continue to lose or should you just say hey wait a second man this draft is loaded Cooper flag eigor don’t call me kakashka denim I mean I don’t know JJ said it different than you said you said like Denim and he was saying like denim in that uh promo we just ran so you two got to get together and straighten it out here my Russian’s a little rusty uh it is yep I didn’t know you had any Rusty to the point of you know it’s flaking off and uh that rusted car just isn’t there anymore I don’t know what the hell are you talking about yet so do you want him to do that again I believe a referred to that as like playing c yeah but that might be the best plan well it was it was in plan but it was down his list draft picked stuff that that that doesn’t matter do do whatever you want with the with the draft picks uh but the idea is should you tank really tank to get an opportunity to draft somebody this Cooper flag kid we’ve been hearing about for three years is that the way to go so then in two three years you’re way better off or you gonna I mean what big game player is going to be available is Mark in a big game player in terms of big game hunting yeah Aaron there may be 10 win now players and nobody’s trading those 10 guys that’s what I’m getting at yep right there with you so you can go but can you accomplish we’re going to go big game hunting and me being a LIF Long Hunter many time I’ve taken to the mountains and come back empty-handed this is metaphor okay your hunting experience is right up there with my knowledge of the Russian language I’ve never once hunted I have no experience with fire Firearms whatsoever zero literal zero so can that be accomplished whereas if you suck and really suck and get a bounce or two and you could be the Spurs This Cooper flag is supposed to be you know he’s white so we’re going to go the next Larry Bird and all that stuff I mean that that’s what they have to weigh and I don’t know that it’s an easy decision I think it would have been an easier decision if there were only like one year into it but having three years in a new owner who you know he kind of likes the attention who wouldn’t nobody nobody buys the team so they can be terrible year after year yeah I’ve got a lifelong goal I’ve made billions of dollars right but nobody step into the spotlight now you’re on Pat McAfee with your hat back and then lose consistently yeah that’s pretty cool yeah it is right I mean it clearly is obviously nothing wrong with it he hadn’t done anything wrong but actually the way he’s handled the attention has been pretty good when you think about it John says the 10th and 29th picks won’t get them much they’re going to need to throw in some of their other draft Capital to get someone who’s truly Elite right I don’t think that would exclusively the report I think it was Hoops hype or something I don’t think it it was exclusive just these two picks it’s part of the that’s where it starts but whether they put in a player or players or draft Capital it depends on who they’re trading for and who they’re trading with the hockey team I think they’ll be season tickets to the hockey team in there so I think that would be part of it I don’t think that’s exclusively it I mean you have a chance to get Nolan tayori supposed to be all that elite point guard Prospect I mean I’ve just uh once I uh in the last 24 hours I’ve been looking at 25 since they got uh eagle or don’t call me koskov just just to get it I mean we I’ve seen Cooper plag and you better be careful on that word by the way knowing you uh you you if I were you if I were you I’d hope he’d go someplace else in the east in the East Charlotte or something go to Charlotte wreck his career so you don’t have never have to talk about him yeah exactly the ultra big Cooper flag that would be dangerous so retail places to get the ultra big flag to call the ultra big flag that was an edited version that had to be edited it did yeah when we go to Serious radio then we’ll be okay look at the new gu just figuring it out oops this is all brand new to him a new audience somebody’s son that used to listen to us how how old are you 24 good we haven’t had a producer yet who’s where the show is older than the producer we’re getting close though flirting with it yeah so looking at this one after this kid announced uh wge put it out there that he was coming to BYU yesterday obviously start go looking right and and I already knew about the flag man because I me he’s been on TV I’ve probably seen him play at least five times and then you look at this uh tayori this this kid out of France man there’s like a couple guys coming out of France this year starting to think what’s going on in France yeah I mean it’s a golden generation playing good ball over there I think it’s cool right uh these guys uh when when we interview him are we going to hear that they all grew up watching uh Tony Parker and this is uh this is the next Generation inspired by him he can do it I can do it well I think that’s on and on that’s an ongoing thing whatever it might be and then there’s a Ron Harper’s son is out there Dylan Harper plays at ruter you know the Jersey school Chris Hill went there and so I mean you really have no idea right now how these kids are going to be but you listen to and read stuff about it and you can watch Clips he in Elite level point guard you know how many people get that said about them who knows if he can manifest it to that level but the first thing you read an elite level point guard who can do it all that’s tayori I’m speaking of wow sign me up yeah that’s your first reaction yeah right because they’re trying to you can argue they’re trying to square peg round hole type of thing with George you know they they’ve told us repeatedly that he’s never uh played uh point guard well how am I supposed to take that you’re not there yet well will you ever be there but but he can he can be there as an NBA player the point being if you got a kid like Tori who is a a an elite level apparently you know the the the phrase true point guard well then that that slides Jo into a position that he might be better suited better suited at yeah or he doesn’t have to play the starter minutes and now he just has to be a really good point guard in the 10 or 15 minutes they let him play as a backup point I mean lots of is he or you could trade him and get somebody else back who know is George another hornis sec type player you know he was drafted I remember when uh Jeff retired announced his retirement and went to Phoenix I had a sit down with Jerry Colangelo who’d like to take credit for everything and yeah when I saw him I thought you know because he was a second round pick turn into a really great player as a second round pick you know one of your better secondary players who shined in in in a a lesser role and is that if you got a hornis sec out of George I think you’d probably take it but in order to have that you had to have the statues yeah give me a Stockton yeah is this trar kid I have no idea but right now he’s getting a lot of run so do you want to pass up that because if that were the case when you think about it because they’ve they’ve sucked at tanking we all agree on that right well it’s like you said it’s the half tank they haven’t really tried they’ve been really good in the first half of the season and then bench guys at the end of the year so the one time that you might want to do it when you stand a better chance you don’t do it are you or you just exasperating the half tank yes yes you are and then you double down then you double down because if you get a you’re probably not going to get a great player but if you get a pretty gooder right but if you get a pretty good player and you look at a team that’s been 500ish before they decide to bench guys at the end of the year this pick could be good enough that then it’s the pick you end up handing over and conveying to Oklahoma City so now you’re not only drafting top four five six seven and getting one of these really good players you’re talking about but now you’re drafting well it depends on how good Cleveland and Minnesota are now maybe you’ll still end up hitting with pick 23 or whatever it turns out to be who knows we don’t know what those rosters are going to look like is Minnesota gonna move guys because of salary next year in 25 very next year when this draft comes along as a city are right now you’ll have Minnesota’s pick you’ll have Cleveland’s pick and you’ll have your pick if your pick’s great then you’re drafting up here 1 2 3 4 5 six getting one of these guys you’re talking about right but if you bring in a decent player and you go out and you win 43 games now maybe your pick isn’t good enough and you’ve got to convey it to Oklahoma City yeah I think Oklahoma City is going to trade that pick but doesn’t matter from the Jazz perspective yeah you wouldn’t have it yeah so maybe in this deepest of drafts you end up drafting 21 and 28 or 20 and 30 I don’t know where wherever they end up well maybe Danny Ray and hatb bil then get their guy eagor they’re in love with BYU BYU guys eigor BYU Guy what’s the worst you saw him slipping granted all this stuff is going to change in Year anyway Lottery wise yeah uh like 12 13 yeah somewhere in there that was but I mean this is very raw right now obviously these guys can move up spve down guess his flag will be there we’ve been talking about him for two years he’s McDonald’s All-American Gatorade National player of the year right so he’d probably go one uh these other guys remains to be seen you know I’ve seen Harper play ruter M got the Bloodlines I get that uh so there’s so much that D it’s just it it’s mading because you can work as hard as you could possibly work on all this stuff right and then in the end you really don’t know it’s crazy how these things play out in sports like in life there are no guarantees yeah but I mean if you go there’s a thing there out there you want to be successful in life get a high school degree stay away from addiction stay away from unplanned PR prancies uh do all these things put your ducks in a row you’re going to have a level of success right most likely right I mean you can get hit by a truck so there are no guarantees but you can tip the odds heavily in your favor but I don’t know here that you can I think you can tip the odds in your favor but the thing is they’ve already said they don’t want to be the uh I haven’t put exact numbers on it but I will they don’t want to be the 50- win team that goes out in the second around to the playoffs that’s what they broke up sort of a cop out that’s the justification for what we did more yeah they have to say that well now they’ve said it so we hold accountable why would you break it up and not say that you have to you’re forced once you do that you’re forced to say that so I don’t that doesn’t that doesn’t mean anything to me but I think that is why they broke it up if you thought they were obviously that’s why they broke it up that’s what I’m saying you don’t have to say because that’s why you did they have to say something we expect press conferences and explanations not with them well they do duck it as much as possible no doubt but even they do that yeah but that’s obvious that’s sunrises in the East it’s also true yeah but it doesn’t I don’t know that it is true it sounds good that’s give me time buy me time get off my back don’t criticize me that’s what they’re saying well that is part of what they’re saying but the truth is they didn’t think that group was to go to the Conference Finals and the NBA Finals because it would have kept it together if they thought it was going to no they wouldn’t have you don’t think so no because Mitchell was going to leave yeah but in three years if they were going to go to the NBA finals before then I think they would have rolled the dice with it they didn’t think they were going that far and they did think Mitchell was going to leave and they were right I think in both cases I don’t think they were going that far and I think he was leave but that that just drives me nuts that group was going to be the exact that group every single year for the next four years under Mitchell so that group wasn’t going to go that’s a fact you lost nobody can argue that but you could have made additions to better that group if they kept the group together and trade Mitchell who admittedly was a massive piece of the group but could they have traded him and then what could the group have done well it’s easy they should have traded the statues because without Hornes SEC that group was not going to go to the NBA finals and they considered and they decided no we’re going to roll with these two guys no they’re going to make moves to get better that’s what they decided they moved and they moved over they moved nine of the 12 guys on the team in those days it was a 12 12 player roster and they moved nine of the 12 in like 18 months right as you got to town so they got better but I’m talking about later they did get better they didn’t get they didn’t make the final right as I got to town no but that’s when they reconstructed the roster it’s when they made the horc trade was the biggest of those deals well that was like I’d been here for two years by then uh so that that’s what I’m saying why couldn’t they have done that I all these Defenders of these guys it’s like oh well we weren’t going to do this so we had no choice but to do that I disagree that’s not true that’s not the only choice you had you chose that path and I’m fine with it but don’t tell me that was either A or B that’s a bunch of homers homering for them that’s not true at all there was C move Mitchell keep there could have been CDF keep goar and Conley and Royce O’Neal G i j plan R if there was endless amount of matchup issues that eigor that you and Steve Cleveland agreed on and we just played it then there’s certainly endless amount of ways they could have gotten the team better they chose the path they chose I could argue it was the easiest path it was hard but everything is hard what isn’t hard anything that you want in life is going to be hard unless you inherit money the best way to get it if it were easy everybody would do it and if it were easy they wouldn’t people pay people millions of dollars to do it whether it’s Executives or coaches or it’s just like my position on the radio exactly rolling in it okay cut that for a drop will you well I’ll say it every time just point to me and I’ll create the drop live it’ll be a live drop I’m rolling in it oh now I have something to do for the rest of the show so there’s other things they could have done I that frustrates me every time I hear well they weren’t going to go to the NBA finals and win it all so we had to trade everybody in a dog no you chose to do that you could have gotten better and it’s fine that they didn’t that’s that that’s my point here is there’s a many different ways that they can go with this you don’t think a a 50- win team next year doesn’t sound good sounds pretty good to me it will sound pretty good after the last two years it’ll sound awfully good yeah and especially well we’re just as we sit here today we’ll assume that it’s 50 wins with a chance to get better they always have that chance to get better but with the internal development young guys right they’ll have these draft picks playing in the rotation maybe they have a better chance I’ll grant you that but the chance is always to get better no one’s preventing you from trying to get better every single season all you guys sit down and roll the balls over to the side I don’t want anyone here getting better knock it off I mean they put out pictures yesterday of marketing working out getting better I mean does he need to get better yes not really he’s already pretty good sure you can get better but I mean is that can get a little better at creating his own shot right there’s always something to work on F fine yes but for me his summer workouts are to keep yourself in shape keep engaged keep just trying to even if it’s just a little tiny bit sure the only time they couldn’t get better is when the antivaxer was jogging off the side in Sacramento they weren’t going to get better that was it but that’s an extreme case of two guys playing together virtually 40 years combined and it’s going to have to end sometime right but other than that you can always get better and that’s the goal every season whoever Denver needs to get better right everybody does Denver does they need their bench was not as good this year as it was before right and it showed up their big guys if they were off or just in a game when they had to sit down bad things happened yeah and they were let down by some role players who were starters not just I don’t want to dump on the bench guys that’s true yeah I mean Aaron Gordon what wasn’t good enough got to be better wasn’t as good as he was the year before so he didn’t get to run around downtown Denver with no shirt on yeah canag would have been this year if they would have won you got to top yourself yeah or in this case I guess bottom yourself bottom yourself okay all right DJ and PK the Jazz are on the clock long before draft night djpk coming up Travis Hansen BYU basketball legend 805 he’s going to join us in 20 minutes and talk about the big recruiting get you know his Russian will be good we’ll get the pronunciation we’ll get it authentic he play Travis played does he speak Russian yeah and he played in Russia he does speak russan to some level I don’t speak Spanish yeah to some level he does he played in Russia he picked up some stuff he’s gonna he’s gonna help us with the well if he doesn’t know the kid specifically he knows people who knows the kid right djp DK it’s 975 the zone
DJ & PK talked about the chances of the Utah Jazz trading their first-round picks in the NBA Draft in an effort to get a player via trade that could speed up their rebuild timeline.
